The dress everyone is talking about: Rihanna at the CFDA awards

There is no hesitation in saying that superstar Rihanna puts the RI in riskay, with her choices in fashion. She knows how to turn heads and be the only name on people lips at any occasion, and the CFDA awards were no different. Little is left to the imagination when the singer attended the awards that celebrate fashion ironically wearing practically nothing! The daring Adam Selman sheer dress that took instagram by surprise is confidently wore by Riri showing off a whole lot of her femininity. The fitted Swarovski crystal covered floor length dress spread across social media as the world is faced with Riri’s nipples drawing all attention, however the singer modestly tries to cover herself up with her fur accessory and not forgetting the sparkling turban to draw attention to her face.

Vogue tweeted “Rihanna doesn’t follow fashion she affects it!!”, There is no argument in honouring her with Style Icon at the event as she leads the way in the fashion industry taking every risk and taboo on the journey! She dares to do the the undareable and it is undeniable that she does it greatly, stiring up a storm whilst doing so!

Her best accessory of the night is her confidence and she has really embraced it to the fullest!

Print Your Own Make-up

Last week Tech Crunch announced that make-up lovers everywhere will be able to print any shade or type of make up from their own home for just $300!!

Call it crazy but it is true, Harvard Business School’s very own Grace Choi has invented the product that could be the answer to the make-up world, printable make-up. The Mink as it has been named, allows you to pick a colour, any colour online or from a photo, and produces eye shadows, lipsticks and any other form of cosmetic goodie from the hit of a button.

Choi researched into the make-up industry, the ingredients, the pigments, and the formulas that create that favourite lipstick, that sparkly eye shadow and much much more to produce the base for her products. The idea behind her concept is making available the luxury make up and the mass produced all in one place at a click of button, for young girls aged 13 – 21 experimenting with make-up. Break away from the stock colours of pinks and reds and be daring with bright greens and blues. The same dyes that are used in printers are those that are used in make-up Choi claims, as she states ‘take out the bulls***’, the branding, the expensive trip to the make-up counter. The Mink does the same thing as all these brands but right from your own home at a fraction of the price.

Urban Decay Electric Palette

Urban Decay have now added the Electric Palette to their collection of famous eye shadow palettes, and I have got my hands on one. I can never fault an Urban Decay palette and having many of them myself they are really great tools to work with. The intense pigments and the variety of colours, those who have invested in Urban Decay palettes will know what I mean. I truly love the electric palette, it is a burst of colour from Gonzo to Freak, a mixture of Chaos and Slowburn and the splash of Savage. These shades are WOW!

After getting the chance to play with the Electric palette and trying different looks by using just the colours in the palette itself as well as getting out my Urban Decay Naked palette as a partner in crime, I have fell in love with the electric palette. The pigment is bright and intense, a real trademark of Urban Decay. I can’t even pick a favourite out the colours, as they are all so different. You may find yourself having to dig your brush in other eye shadow palette to bring out the colour of the shade but with this palette a little dab is all you need for the soft subtle looks as well as the bright daring ones.

What I love most about this palette is how it can complete any look by adding a dash of colour. We’ve all had those moments when we are all done up and just staring at ourselves in the mirror thinking something is missing, my face looks plain and you can’t just figure out why. Just add a touch of Electric.

Electric can be used not only for eye shadow, but can you it for eye lines with its double ended brush, and if your really feeling creative you can create those theatrical looks as you can use these pigments all over your face and body, don’t just limit it to your eyes! You may be worried about the strong pigments staining but they are easily washed off. I really cannot fault Electric!!

My Skincare Secrets By Nakita Grewal

I’m going to share a skincare secret of mine, well of my mums. As the teenage years approached me I battled with the dark side of teenage acne, I tried skincare product after skin care product, spending from a few pounds into hundreds but I never found a product I was satisfied with. Not only was my skin breaking out but I also have the great honour of having dry sensitive skin so I have to be very careful with what I put on my face. After another failed battle in my war to control my breakouts, my mum made me a home remedy, a lemon and honey facemask. She never shared this with me before due to the sensitivity of my skin and how the lemon may react but since I tried anything and everything that I could find, there was no harm in trying this.

Get great skin like Kate’s.

It is a very quick and simple mask squeeze the juice of a lemon and mix it with honey in a bowl and apply to your face for about 10 – 15 minutes. After trying this the first time I’ll be honest I wasn’t that impressed but after doing this 1 -2 times a week for 3 weeks I noticed a difference I wasn’t having extreme breakouts and my complexion was starting to glow.

The lemon is the important ingredient in this. Firstly it dries up spots, and helps prevent breakouts as it is a natural cleanser. But it doesn’t stop there it helps in aiding an even skin tone and gives you a beautiful glow. But remember if you are using lemon on your face it is very very important to wear sun block as it does make your skin sensitive to the sun.

The honey works as moisturizer and a healer, as the lemon dries up and cleanses the skin, the honey works it magic to prevent over drying of the skin as well as healing the breakouts. These two natural products work hand in hand and leave you with gorgeous looking skin.

Also you can use the same ingredients to make a super face exfoliator by adding sugar. Use the scrub on your face for about 5 minutes going in circular motions to really scrub away at the dead skin cells and revive a new glow.

These techniques have helped me with my battle to control my skin and have worked wonders even with my sensitive skin.
