Wild Christmas Cocktail Recipes by Smokehead Whisky

If you’ve just had all hopes of some Christmas socialising dashed as more of the country gets plunged into Tier 3, Smokehead Whisky are here to save the day with some creative and festive cocktail recipes to try from the comfort of your own home. 

Because we all know staying in is the new going out, Smokehead Islay Single Malt Whisky has big ambitions. Established in 1933 by Ian Mcleod Distillers, the world’s 10th largest Scotch Whisky Co. Smokehead has a reputation for being labelled ‘the wild one’ of Single Malt Whisky which has been described as “an assault on your senses.” As the name suggests, if you love peat, you’re gonna love this. With that being said, Smokehead have come up with some very wild cocktail recipes to try out over the festive season… (wild-ish). They have experimented with some seasonal favourites to bring you a festive mash-up to go with their unique liquor.

Smokehead Snow Ball:

Ingredients;

25ml Smokehead 

50ml Advocat

12.5ml Gingerbread Syrup

Lemonade

Method;

Add Smokehead, Advocaat and gingerbread syrup to an ice-filled glass. Stir and top up with lemonade. 

Smokehead Grinch:

Ingredients;

25ml Smokehead

50ml Melon Liqueur

25ml Lemon Juice

12.5ml Sugar Syrup

Method;

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a coup glass.

Smokehead Hot Buttered Rum Rebel:

Ingredients;

25ml Smokehead Rum Rebel 

3 dashes of Mixed Spice

1tbsp Unsalted Butter

Hot Cider

Method;

Add butter mix to the glass, pour over Smokehead and Hot Cider. Stir until butter melts.

Christmas Cocktails ft. Cranes Liqueur 

We’re back and this week we are featuring our Christmas Cocktail idea which was kindly provided by Cranes Cranberry and Blood Orange Liqueur. This one is guaranteed to warm your cockles throughout December and all the way through to the big day. So turn those Carols up high, crank up the fireplace and lay back with something mulled.

Cranes Mulled Cocktail Recipe 

Warm up this season, with Cranes mulled Cocktail. 

Ingredients; 

  • 5 parts cranberry juice 
  • 2 parts Cranes Liqueur 
  • 2 parts orange juice 
  • 2 parts ginger wine 
  • 1 part Cointreau 

Method; 

  1. Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat over a medium-low temperature for approximately 3-4 minutes or until a desired temperature. 
  3. Pour into a mug and enjoy. 

Feeling fancy? Add a cinnamon stick and slice of orange to garnish!

Festive Cocktail Ideas : Amarula Edition

This week we welcomed in December and also snow in some parts of the UK so wherever you are, we wanted to offer you something super comforting, decadent and spicy to keep you warm from the inside out.
This week our cocktail has come from the delicious South African liqueur Amarula and has the inspiration of a hot toddy and a mulled wine all rolled into one quintessentially festive tipple.

Amarula Spiced Dram

Ingredients:
35ml Amarula Cream Liqueur

20ml Spice – infused whisky (clove, cinnamon, juniper, star anise & cardamom)
Method:
Stir ingredients in glass beaker with ice until chilled. Fine strain into a chilled champagne glass.

Ingredients:
30ml Baileys Chocolat Luxe


70ml Hazelnut milk

Gold edible colouring and edible gold leaf

0.5 units per serve

Method:
Shake in a cocktail shaker and fine strain into the glass.

Finish by garnishing a simple sheet of edible gold leaf.

If you’re feeling fancy, pre-dip a raspberry in edible gold colouring to add an extra touch of glam.
