Evans the Death, Tyrannosaurus Dead, Gum, The Hundredth Anniversary | Music News

Evans the Death, Tyrannosaurus Dead, Gum and The Hundredth Anniversary are all on the release of

GUTS on – a split tape via Reeks Of Effort that will feature Tyrannosaurus Dead, GUM

and The Hundredth Anniversary. The release will also be marked by gigs in Brighton and

Cardiff.

The release is now streaming and available for pre-order at:http://reeksofeffort.bandcamp.com/album/guts-2

Evans the Death are special guest headliners for the gig. They released their self-titled

debut album in April this year to widespread critical acclaim.

Evans the Death make frenetic and infectious punk pop which exudes the kind of unbridled

charisma, intelligence, and runaway energy that promises a singularly exciting future for the

band. Comprising Dan Moss (guitar, vocals), Lan McArdle (bass), Katherine Whitaker (vocals,

keys), Rob Mitson (drums), and Olly Moss (guitar), and named after the undertaker in Dylan

Thomas’s Under Milk Wood, Evans the Death are poised to fulfill their potential as one of the

most refreshing and exhilarating new groups around.

Brighton-based Tyrannosaurus Dead formed late in 2010, and immediately set to work honing

their melodically driven, fuzzed-out sound. Inspired by bands including The Delgados and

“Trailer” era Ash – Billy Lowe (vocals & guitar), Eleanor Rudge (vocals), Martin Edwards

(guitar), Tom Northam (bass) and Rupert Willows (drums) make warm, distortion drizzled pop.

A successful live act, they have played support to the likes of The Primitives, Shrag and Wave

Pictures.

Gum have been making woozy, reverb-drenched shoegaze since September 2011. Formed in

London by Grant J. Healey (vocals & guitar), Jessica Jordan-Wrench (vocals & bass), Dayoung

Styxx Yun (drums) and Chris Leader (vocals & guitars) they have quickly gained notoriety with

a string of favourable reviews and a split 7” out this month via Art Is Hard (hear track from split

here). Noisy-pop that joins the dots between MBV, The Jesus & Mary Chain and Yuck.

The newest of the newcomers, The Hundredth Anniversary are a four piece band based in

Brighton who formed earlier this year. Eleanor Rudge (vocals & guitar), Chris Lowe (vocals &

bass), Andy Taylor (guitar) and Dem Mather (drums) make gloriously soaring lo-fi indie. As if

The Walkmen were fronted by Cat Power and filtered through a soft-haze of radio static.

Reeks Of Effort is a renowned Cardiff/Manchester/Brighton/London based blog, who are now

branching out into gigs and records. Exciting right?

One Of These Days will be two days like no other in the international festival calendar. Never have so many of the world’s best events come together to create a one-off spectacular and the look and feel of each event will be distilled and brought to Blackpool and allowed to explode aurally and visually into the many rooms of the Winter Gardens. Each festival will bring their unique ethos and style to their own individually designed space at the legendary multi-venue indoor complex, curating a line-up that reflects their own celebrated events. From the spectacular Cubehenge light installation of Glastonbury to the indoor forests of End of the Road and the Croatian beaches of Electric Elephant, each festival will bring a taste of the place they call home to Blackpool.

From the big stage draws of Melt! Festival and Eden Sessions to the electronic innovation of The Warehouse Project, Glastonbury Dance Village and DFA and the folk inclinations of End of the Road and SWN Festival, you’re sure to find plenty to explore. With over 150 bands, artists and DJs, not to mention interactive art and film installations, an emerging talent strand and our exclusive Winter Market, One Of These Days promises to end the year in spectacular fashion.

One of These Days will help kick start the cultural redevelopment of Blackpool, it aims to bring this world first event to the seaside town and utilise Blackpool’s existing infrastructure of beautiful Victorian theatres and bars that stretch the coastline.

“We were going around the world to many different festivals seeing really unique ways of doing things. We decided to invite these wonderful festivals to the party. Our vision is to have one site where each space within it is filled by a micro-version of each festival, not just musically, but visually – capturing the essence of each festival. We aimed high and asked the festivals we love to come to Blackpool. They said yes…”

Lady Gaga Launches Perfume

Lady Gaga has launched her first ever perfume ‘Fame’. The first ever poster sees her modeling for icon photographer Steven Klein. Frost Loves it, and are those ‘little monsters’? Gaga confessed on Twitter that she was nervous about posting the photo to her followers. She tweeted: “I won’t lie I’m a bit nervous. its been a while since i’ve shared some work with you. But i’m so proud of Steven+I, we really did not sleep!”

It is the first ever black fluid perfume. Apparently it has Lady Gaga’s blood in it. Gaga said she wanted it to smell “like an expensive hooker”…[Blood and semen] is in the perfume but it doesn’t smell like it”

“You just get sort of the after feeling of sex from the semen and the blood is sort of primal. And the blood was taken from my own blood sample so it’s like a sense of having me on your skin.”

N-Dubz rapper Dappy’s 800% surge in digital fans as Tulisa slams his plea to free murderer

A controversial video calling for the release of a convicted killer sent Dappy’s digital fans into overdrive.

The N-Dubz rapper saw eight times as many digital fans add him across social networks on last Tuesday, according to global analysts Musicmetric, who monitor the digital space for record labels around the world.

A whopping 3,822 new fans followed or liked Dappy on Tuesday compared to his daily average 440 for the previous month. By Wednesday it had reduced to 2,516, giving him a total of 586,000 online fans.

See the latest stats for Dappy here: http://bit.ly/MEBwIl

The rapper called for jailed killer Learco Chindamo to be freed in the opening credits of his new video Tarzan 2.

A disclaimer at the start reads “the views & opinions expressed in this video are those of the artist only” — with a message saying “Free Leo Chindamo”.

Chindamo knifed to death Philip Lawrence, 48, outside St George’s RC School in west London aged just 15, after the head intervened in a fight by the gates in 1995. Dappy, 25, went to the same school.

Chindamo, 31, served 14 years for murder and was released on licence in July 2010. But he was sent back to prison for breaching the conditions of his licence, after he was caught associating with gang members after his release.

Tulisa slammed the video, tweeting: ‘Just puttin it out there..dont involve me in dappy’s latest hype, I don’t condone it in anyway.N its a shame I’m not around 2 control him [sic].

Philip’s widow Frances of Ham, West London, told The Sun newspaper: “I haven’t heard the song yet. But I don’t think it is right someone should be making money from using his name in a song.”

Tulisa has more than four times as many fans than Dappy – 2,466,000. See the latest stats for her here: http://bit.ly/M45juq

Marie-Alicia Chang, Musicmetric co-founder, said:

“The idea that ‘controversy sells’ is hardly new, but it’s clear that, for whatever reason, the public is interested. The massive spike in digital fans for Dappy – an artist purely of the digital generation – could be a goldmine in helping sell downloads or lucrative gig tickets. Of course many others could be mightily offended by this kind of thing.

“But if labels can determine where their fans are, how they access their favourite artists and, most importantly, when, they’re able to get a lot more out of them. And at a time where music needs all the support it can get, being able to embrace technology in this way could be vital.”

How Does That Song Go?

Frost Magazine have come across a useful music resource.

Zlyrics have come up with a comprehensive online lyrics resource featuring over 700,000 lyrics from over 30,000 artists. It took them months to gather all the lyrics data along with the music video of every track. The lyrics submitted by users at Zlyrics are then double checked by our team to ensure the accuracy.
