Zaggora Hotpants Review: Do They Work?

I have heard of leggings and tight with special technology that makes people slimmer or improves cellulite, but I have never heard of a product which claims it can do it that has such a following. Zaggora have over 250,000 likes on Facebookand have sold over 420,000 pairs of their ‘HotPants’

The Hotpants have Celu‐Lite™ technology which increases core body temperature while being active leading to increase in calorific expenditure during and after working out as well as short-term weight loss immediately following working out. The Celu-lite technology has specifically designed lining which insulates and increases heat generation during working out to deliver better results in the short and long-term.

So, that is the science over, but do they work?

I have been exercising to lose the last bit of extra weight I still had from Christmas (ahem) and there was just this bit from my stomach that would not budge. I tried everything; working out 6 days a week, not eating dessert, spanx, but it would not budge. Until the hotpant. I decided to do the two-week challenge, but to be honest, I did not need the other week.

All I did was exercising in them three times that week for one hour and wore them (underneath my clothes) for another day. I lost about 2 inches from my waist and an inch and a half from my hips. My legs are also slimmer. The little bit of annoying weight in my stomach has gone. The hotpants would also be amazing in winter: brilliant thermals!

I recommend these. I don’t know if you could just wear them and sit around the house, but as long as you exert yourself in them they definitely work. You can even wear them doing housework. They at least double the benefits of your workout.

Spring Cleaning tips to spritz your home

Did you know the average family of four sheds up to 3lbs of skin per year? Or that your carpet can hold up to 2lbs of dirt per square foot? Surprisingly, despite these shocking facts over 80 per cent of homeowners have never washed their carpets!

As well as this, 45 per cent of homeowners don’t remove their shoes before walking on their carpets and worryingly, four out of ten people eat food which has been dropped on the floor.

With a rise in a hectic lifestyle and the onset of the economic downturn, the traditional Spring Clean is no longer a top priority which is why many of us rarely spend time or money deep cleaning our carpets.

Which is why Rug Doctor, the carpet cleaning experts have come up with some top tips for Frost Readers on how to do a spring cleaning that won’t burden your finances or your time!

1. Take it one room at a time

Make sure you plan ahead and choose where to begin, make a list of the areas you want to target and tackle them one step at a time. Be sure to budget time for distractions too-unexpected visitors and phone calls are inevitable!

2. Declutter before your clean

Always declutter before a polish, make sure your area is good to go before you don your gloves and spray.

3. Deep clean those carpets

Nothing refreshes a room more than a clean carpet.

4. Make your vases blooming lovely

What better way to freshen up your home than with a bunch of sweet-smelling blooms. Handpick some flowers from your garden for a sweet-smelling aroma.

5. Add a splash of vinegar to make those windows shine

A top tip for making those windows squeaky clean is to add some vinegar to water and spray onto the glass, then simply wipe clean with a dust free cloth.

6. Care for your curtains

Are your curtains looking drab? Well take them down, remove the hooks and give them a quick cycle in the dryer with a wet towel to rid the dust.

7. Revamp your wardrobe

Empty your wardrobe of all your clothes and give it a good scrub, you never know you might find a couple of items you’d forgotten about too.

8. Open the windows for fresh air

Winter is over so open up those windows and let the good fresh air billow through your home.

9. Start from the top and work your way down

With each room start at the ceiling and get rid of the cobwebs before working your way down walls and finishing with the floor.

10. Get the kids to lend a hand

Share the workload with your loved ones, even the most unwilling helper can make a big difference in the work load.

Brits Neglecting Health Due to Lack of Money.

It seems the economical climate is really start to bite as Brits are cutting back on medical care.

New research by Sovereign Health Care has revealed that 63% of UK residents have delayed vital health care treatments to save money over the past 12 months, with women being the worst offenders (34%). Meanwhile more men (54%) than women (42%) said they will have to put back health related appointments this year in order to make their household budget stretch further.

The survey revealed that the economic climate has resulted in a growing number of people neglecting their health in order to try and save money. What’s perhaps even more worrying is that the vast majority of respondents (88%) say they would cancel or delay a health care appointment (such as dentist or opticians), rather than cut back on socialising and entertaining to make their money stretch further.

Although only 20% of those polled said they had been more ill over the last year, compared with previous years, 43% said they have been living with health care conditions such as a bad back, bunions and eye sight problems, as they can’t afford to get treatment – men are the worst culprits (22%). With these findings, it comes as no surprise to learn that 43% of women and 37% of men say it’s quite possible that they have forfeited their health over the past 12 months.

The survey findings also revealed that many people view certain complementary therapies as luxuries rather than necessities, including reflexology (91%), chiropody (73%) and physiotherapy (54%).

Russ Piper, Chief Executive of Sovereign Health Care says: “Delaying health care treatment is tempting when budgets are so tight, but neglecting your health is potentially more expensive and dangerous in the long run as you can increase both the severity of the problems you face and the cost of the treatment you need.”

He adds: “Treatments such as chiropody and physiotherapy can be costly, which is probably why people think of them as a luxury. However, they are beneficial for many people with health problems or injuries and they can be affordable with a health care cash plan as you can often claim back some of the costs.”

It’s not only physical health that is suffering due to the recession, but mental well-being is also being affected, with 81% of people saying they have grown increasingly more anxious about managing their household budget over the last 12 months – women were revealed as the most worried at 52%.

Amoena: A Sexy Mastectomy Lingerie Company.

If you are one of the many women who has had cancer it will have affected everything from your bank account to your social life. Frost has discovered Amoena, a sexy lingerie line for women who have had a mastectomy.

Perfect for those romantic encounters, leading mastectomy-wear specialist Amoena has unveiled a gorgeous new Parisian-inspired collection – French Touch.

Available in two ranges, Juliette and Violette, the French Touch collection is designed for women who like to wear the very best lingerie and won’t let breast surgery stand in their way.

The range combines the finest fabrics with delicate decorative touches and provocative styling, for a subtle but sexy look. It includes four mastectomy bras and a choice of briefs, thongs and lace or tummy-control shorts.

Amoena questioned 1000 breast operated women who revealed that wearing glamorous lingerie makes them feel more attractive. Over 80% confirmed that wearing glamorous lingerie is still important to them following a mastectomy.

“Following breast surgery, women still want to look good, and it’s important for them to be able to find clothes that restore their body confidence,” says Amoena marketing manager, Rhoda White.

“We’re really excited about this lovely new collection. It will appeal to all those women who love to wear luxe lingerie and it is the perfect option for some Valentine’s romance.”

French Touch can be purchased online at www.amoena-online.co.uk, by mail order on 0845 072 4027, or from the company’s showroom in Hampshire.

From a Muffin Top to a Skinny Muffin

From a Muffin Top to a Skinny Muffin

By Alison Clark, independent nutritionist and spokesperson for Europe’s no 1 healthy eating plan, Eurodiet.co.uk,gives advice on how to get rid of a muffin top.

What is a muffin top?

According to the Oxford Dictionary a muffin top is “a roll of fat visible above the top of a pair of women’s tight-fitting low-waisted trousers”. You might also call it spare tyre, love handles or back roll but either way, what most of us want to know is why is it there and how can we get rid of it?

In some cases, the only risk from the over spilling of flesh above the waistline is one of sinning against fashion. However, for many more this excess fat could be a sign of central obesity, indicating a real risk to future health.

As we are often reminded, being overweight is bad for your health. What many people don’t realise is that carrying extra fat around the middle of your body can put you at an even higher risk. This is because there are two types of fat with different characteristics: the fat carried under the skin, called subcutaneous, and the fat stored around the tummy surrounding the organs, which is called visceral fat. Visceral fat is the most dangerous, significantly increasing your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.

How do I know if I am at risk?

Get to know your body! Apple shaped people store more fat around the middle than pear shaped. It’s a good idea to make a habit of measuring your waist circumference – see the table below for the key limits.

Increased risk

Very high risk

Women

80 cm or more

88 cm or more

Men

94 cm or more

102 cm or more

To measure your waist accurately, use a soft tape measure and aim for halfway between your hip bone and your lowest rib. If you’re not sure, measure just above your belly button – the important thing is to always measure the same place so that you can keep track of any changes.

What can I do about it?

The only way to reduce fat is to lose weight! The best way to do this is with a combination of a balanced diet and regular exercise and the good news is that shrinking that muffin top won’t be the only benefit of adopting a healthier lifestyle.

Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, aim for at least five different ones every day to ensure that your body gets all the vitamins, minerals and fibre it needs. If you prefer a little help and want to go on a diet, try a high protein diet such as Eurodiet.co.uk, they have revered engineered foods normally associated with high carbs into high protein such as bread, pasta and risotto. Base your meals on wholegrain starchy carbohydrates to make sure that you have plenty of energy throughout the day. Include lean meat and fish and try some alternative protein sources for a change such as pulses and eggs.. Make sure you also include low fat dairy products in your meals to get the calcium your bones need. Avoid fatty, sugary, fried and salty foods and drink plenty of water.

Finally, in order to have a healthy lifestyle and lose the love handles, you will need to exercise. Although targeting your stomach with sit ups or crunches will help to tone the muscles in that area, it will not specifically reduce abdominal fat – you need to lose weight from your whole body. Start with 30 minutes a day or moderate activity and build up from there. If you are not sure then speak to a personal trainer or gym staff who will be able to advise you on the best exercises for you.

Five Steps to Losing Weight and Debt in the New Year.

MMI offers practical advice for losing weight and debt in the New Year.

Every New Year, shedding weight and debt is at the top of the list for millions of people resolving to change for the better. According to a recent Times Report, these two are also among the most often broken resolutions.

While experts have offered numerous techniques and strategies for losing weight and paying down debt, the fundamental lifestyle change remains consistent for both – consume less.  Financial stability begins with spending less than you make, followed by paying more on what you owe.  Losing weight begins with consuming fewer calories, and becoming more active.

If you are among the millions vowing to finally achieve a healthy waistline and a healthy bottom-line, consider the following five steps:

  1. Make the commitment.  When considering any lifestyle adjustment, the first step is to decide – are you ready to make the commitment to do what it takes to improve your health and financial wellbeing?  Are you ready to accept responsibility for changing your situation?  Do you believe that you can and will change the way you make decisions about food and money? It isn’t until you can truthfully answer yes to these questions that you will be ready to face the challenges of creating a healthier physical and fiscal life.
  2. Create a plan.  Creating a budget and a meal plan starts with tracking – tracking expenses and tracking calories.  Consider carrying a pocket notebook for noting every penny spent and calorie consumed.  Review your results and look for areas where you should and can make cut backs.
  3. Develop SMART goals .  One of the most important pieces to being successful in these areas is to set clear goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, rewarding and trackable.  Remember to create short-term, or milestone, goals as well as a target accomplishment.  If your ultimate goal is to become debt free, celebrate when you pay off 25 percent.  The same goes with weight lost. If you aspire to lose 50lbs., acknowledge every 5 to 10lbs. as an accomplishment.
  4. Eliminate temptations.  Once you have a clear calorie and spending budget outlined, remove any obstacles that may hinder your success.  Don’t carry your credit cards in your wallet and don’t keep high calorie sweets in the house.  Leave your cards at home in a safe place and only take them out when you have a planned purchase and payoff strategy.  The same applied with food temptations.  If you know you’re going to be in an environment where you’ll be tempted to indulge, eat a light snack before you leave the house.
  5. Stay flexible. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see the pounds or debt melting away as quickly as you had hoped.  Change doesn’t happen overnight, and there are no quick fixes. The important thing is to remain flexible and committed. If you aren’t meeting your goals, revisit and adjust your plans as often as necessary.

Remember, you are human and set-backs are inevitable.  However, if you are truly committed to doing what it takes to meet your goals, you can accomplish anything.  To learn more about staying committed to your New Year’s resolutions, visit MoneyManagement.org and down New Beginnings , one of MMI’s free eBooks.

Women reassured with safe alternative to breast implants

Externally worn breast forms are never dangerous, says world leader in breast care

Women concerned about the recent health scares over the controversial PIP breast implants can rest assured that the silicone used to manufacture its externally worn prostheses will never pose any danger to health, says world-leading manufacturer of prosthetic breast forms, Amoena.

Amoena manufactures silicone breast forms, a globally recognised medical device worn in the cup of a bra to replace a woman’s breast once she has undergone breast cancer surgery.

In the UK, around 48,000 new incidences of breast cancer are diagnosed each year*, with most women undergoing breast surgery as part of their treatment.  Many use a prosthetic breast to restore their appearance and provide the balance that helps prevent postural problems, although surgical solutions, such as breast reconstruction, are on the increase.

However, while women may be concerned about possible risks associated with surgical procedures, there is never any danger of health scares if women use an externally worn prosthesis.

Amoena invented the externally worn silicone breast form in 1975, revolutionising the level of post-operative care that was offered to women following breast cancer surgery.

“Since then we have dedicated ourselves to research and development,” explains Helmut Wild, vice president of research and development at Amoena, “working closely with medical specialists and breast-operated women to ensure that we incorporate the latest technology into our designs.  The result is innovative breast forms of the highest quality.”

One of these innovations offers women a realistic alternative to breast reconstruction.  The Amoena Contact breast form adheres directly to a woman’s chest wall and stays securely in place all day long.  “Contact looks, feels and behaves just like a real breast,” says Wild.  “It offers women the freedom of movement and the choice in clothes and lingerie that they had before surgery.  We’ve had feedback from thousands of delighted customers, telling us that it has quite literally changed their lives.”

Over the decades Amoena has established manufacturing processes that produce the most durable, skin-friendly, lifelike breast forms in the industry.  “For a woman who has suffered the trauma of breast cancer, our breast forms are the closest thing to a real breast,” says Wild.  “And our state-of-the-art manufacturing plant and patented processes ensure that her safety is paramount and her peace of mind is assured.”

As long ago as 1992, Amoena was the first breast prosthesis manufacturer in the world to set up a certified quality management system that conformed to BS5750/2, the internationally recognised quality standard at the time.

“Today’s standard for medical device manufacturing is ISO13485, and our rigorous quality management process ensures that we remain fully compliant today,” continues Wild.

“Each Amoena breast form is certified as a medical device globally, which requires biocompatibility testing according to international standards, to ensure that materials coming into contact with the skin are completely safe, non-toxic and non-irritant.”

“Only the very best materials are considered after passing our intensive testing in production conditions and fulfilling all biocompatibility requirements. Amoena has the widest experience in producing silicone breast forms, the highest number of product and process patents and we have developed our own bespoke production technology that ensures rigorous end-to-end quality control.”

Wild concludes:  “I think it’s important to emphasise that no external breast form poses any health risk whatsoever to the women who wear them.  For women who have suffered the trauma of a breast cancer diagnosis, and who do not want to undergo further surgery, we are pleased to be able to provide a solution that is totally safe and of the very highest quality.  It’s a reassuring and realistic solution at what is undoubtedly a very stressful time in any woman’s life.”
