Book Review – ‘What would Audrey Do’

This is quite possibly the best book I have read in a very long time. A realistic way we all can live like Audrey Hepburn and she would wholeheartedly approve, charming, fun and witty this book takes you through every aspect of modern living and how AH would have conducted herself in these modern times.

What Would Audrey doIt’s enigmatic, down to earth and modiste just like the lady herself. From advice on dating to style, coping in bad times to conducting yourself in public. It’s simply a must read and you won’t be able to put it down for love or diamonds.

This wonderful book will give you inspiration creating the perfect home, scattering your world with flowers, Diptyque candles and fine white china, it will embody your inner most self with touches of AH.

‘What Would Audrey do’ has ideas for party themes in an oh so graceful manner, how to apply the best simple makeup, for the look she created. It will give you so much advice, I live by these rules and so should each and everyone of you. Try it for a day and I promise you will feel amazing. Plus my own little rule…don’t stress, don’t worry about your day and don’t worry about tomorrow as it’s all meant to be. Even in nasty horrid times remember this has a path that’s leading me to a positive place and be calm, take a moment to understand this when life gets tough and you will be ok my friends!

Don’t kiss and tell

Turn around and check the back of your reflection in the mirror when you leave the house!

It will want make you rethink your every day, you will instantly adopt her mantra for learning to do one thing at a time, you will get more done and feel more relaxed about life, the stresses of the days will drift away and in short you will probably be a lot happier and even loose a few pounds! Stress makes us put on weight didn’t you know!

It will make you feel rewarded for time out and not guilt for slowing down, for saying no every now and again when you feel you need to.

ILA Spa

I adore bath products so when I was sent these lovely ILA beauty products recently I set aside some much needed me time and indulged myself with an evening of home Spa relaxation. Also to test them out to give you the low down on all the soothing, organic and delicious products.

Running a hot bath and adding natural products sends your senses to giddy heights and creates a virtual powerful health spa in seconds. A deep down feeling of wellness and being at one with nature.

With only the finest natural, traditional and sustainable plant and mineral ingredients ILA spa products are delightful, pure and embody great natural healing. They are perfect for emotionally nourishing your body as well as your spirt. The candle enveloped the woods on this photo shoot and filled the air with droplets of pure rose. The aura was enchanting, relaxing and peaceful, it made the day really special and created the perfect atmosphere for being at one with nature, the woodland and the creatures that where hiding away out of sight.

When trying the bath salts crystals you will drift away with a mix of jasmine, sandalwood and they made my skin feel so nourished and smooth. It comes with a wooden scoop so you can add just the right amount to the bath. The crystals dissolved beautifully and left no hard grains behind. Only a pretty pink glow to the hot steamy water.

After soothing your tired limbs you will need to feel refreshed and try the body scrub, Organic rose and geranium hits you as you open this jar and the grains are perfectly milled to a fine salt. With argan oil to nourish the skin and the organic juniper berries to stimulate circulation and help eliminate cellulite. This product can’t fail to impress, just heaven.

Now for me other than the candle the facial oil was my utter most favourite product. This has been my go to morning and night product since receiving these wonderful treats. This is their best seller apparently a ‘little miracle’ The face oil is a cult product revered by men and women worldwide. Packed with essential fatty acids and wrinkle-fighting antioxidants, it revitalises, nourishes and supports at the deepest level. Your telling me, I feel like I am glowing from inside out! It is a fantastic product to apply about 10 minutes before your moisturiser of factor cream. I use a factor 30-50 every day all year round. This will fight wrinkles, heal scars, help regenerate the skin cells, nourish the skin deep down into the layers of the dermis and gives you that glow of youth and hydration lost in our everyday busy modern life. Not only that it has won awards such as…Harper’s Bazaar Hot 100, September 2012, Beauty Bible Award Winner for Anti-Ageing, March 2011 and Natural Product of the Year, AsiaSpa Awards, 2009!!

I have been invited to meet the founder of this company and visit the manufactures. I will be asking loads of beauty, anti ageing and healthy skin questions while I am there thats for sure. ILA is now on my top list of beauty products that I will be recommending to everyone.

Spring is in the Air

We love this time of year so much, its mighty beautiful and its perfect for lazy afternoons wandering about town, window shopping, nipping out for coffees and catching up with whats happening in town.

Spring time is here and all the pretty pink flowers are out in bloom. Sunny days are filled with little sun dresses and delicate tones. This dress was purchased from Primark on a budget shopping trip recently. Primark is the place to visit when you need a little treat without breaking the bank. This dress was just £10 and at that price you just have to pop it in the basket. It comes with an elasticated back so it fits like a glove. P1130844

Behind The Scenes for ‘Ashley Sofia Events’

This was one of the best photo shoots I have done in ages, tons of fun and the location was just superb. Ashley is a self taught florist and has such amazing creative talent. Her floristry is magical, beautiful and original. We decided to get together a few months ago when Ashley contacted me through Twitter. Plans went into action for a very different shoot indeed.

The entire week before we had showers, shadows and no sun whatsoever. Mine and Ashley’s vision was looking like it was going to be doomed from the outset.

We woke up on the day of the shoot to see clear blues skies and not a drop of rain. Here is a look behind the scenes!

Ashley Sofia Events is based in Manchester and started with a passion for flowers 8 years ago and with a focus on uniquely beautiful designs. Today Ashely offers trend setting wedding, Party, Christmas and event design. You can drop her a line and she will be able to help you with anything your little heart desires. Even a dinner party at home would just wow your guests. Beautiful centre pieces for coffee tables and fine dining. Ashley is free for ideas with hotels to coffee shops. Make your business stand out with a weekly floral display from this magnificent little company.

Nice …our model Lottie being a goof!! Joking aside a shoot like this takes weeks if not months of preparation. The test shots need to be sorted at the location, clothing needs to be sourced, props hired and the setting up takes hours. Tons of hanging about for the model or models. Lottie was freezing between sets poor girl. Coffee runs and catering has to be thought of too.

Delicious cakes eaten and a little delirious from all the laughter on set we called it a day. Perfect shoot in the bag and and a perfect friendship formed.

This is what can happen in-between all the fun! Here are just a few pictures form the shoot. The rest…well you will have to wait till they are published.

Super Fast Suppers, Chicken & Pesto Parcels

With all the bank holidays we have had are you seriously exhausted after a long weekend of fun and partying, are you in need of a really triumphant meal that you can be proud of and are you looking for a very quick and heathy supper to cook in a jiffy. Here is one of our fast feasts just for those of you that want amazing and great food but just don’t have the time to slave over the hob for an hour. We give you Chicken & Pesto parcels. These take just 5 minutes to prepare, so look no further and stop googling “Fast meals for the family” just make sure you check out our site from time to time as we are the ones that will help you in the kitchen with step by step pictures too!!

You will need:

Chicken breasts (1 per person)
Red and green pesto
Celery salt
Fresh basil (dried of you can’t get to the shops)
Cherry tomatoes
Sides of your choice
Tin foil
35 minutes of prep and cooking time.

Grab the chicken and slice it up into thick strips, place on a sheet of tin foil load all the other ingredients on top. Really simple and really beautiful to the eye. You can add cheese and bacon bits if you have them or go crazy and add a good dollop of chilli for a really wicked kick.

Place these babies in the oven for 30 minutes and serve in the foil with your sides. We decided to chow down with balsamic mini roast potatoes, homemade coleslaw and a colourful salad.

Perfect for the busy family and perfect for those waistlines too!!

High Street Finds

Primark are really pulling out all the stops this season and we are all loving the floral, vibrant and fun items in store. This fantastic jumpsuit is only £11 and looks and feels amazingly comfortable deliciously flattering and perfect for a casual day off or worn with a crisp white shirt at the office. This little number could even be thrown in a suitcase and worn with flip flops on the beach as a cool cover up. Perfect wardrobe must have for this season.

The Heathrow Experience

The new Heathrow Terminal 2 opens on the 4th of June 2014 and its set to be the best, most opulent and tremendous one yet. With 62 fabulous shops and fine dining areas all for you the traveler. This meticulously designed experience is all about the passengers. Making it a truly wonderful visit, you will just long for more time to wander about, shop and even have a luxury relaxing massage, shower and a nice rest before your flight. This sounds too good to be true but trust me I had the chance to test this all out recently and boy oh boy was it good!! Each shop has travel in mind and each and every one has thought of everything from keeping the kids happy to keeping you completely spoilt rotten.

Thomas Pink has a new state of the art personalised digital touch screen shirt maker. The Personally Pink gadget where you can choose the shirt, collar, colour, size and all the little details of your choice and they will create your shirt and get it specially delivered to your home within about 4 weeks. You now can be your own shirt designer and no one will have the same as you!

Cath Kidston, the British known institution of vintage kitsch is the best place to drop in for gifts and all those amazing holiday items you always want to purchase last minute. The shop will feature unique travel inspired designs at the terminal.

The amazing Sunglasses Hut have a very cool device called the Magic Mirror that allows passengers to try on frames with virtual technology!! I spent ages trying on the coolest new designs. The store is set to also feature a Luxury room with some High end fashion brands. On leaving the event I looked into my goodie bag and low and behold they had popped a pair of the latest Folding Ray-Bans in the bag! What a fab event and we all got totally spoilt.

Having some fun at the even! Its not all work and no play at Frost. Work hard play hard, haven’t you heard our motto!!Dixons Travel is my kinda place. This new Leica camera is on my ultimate wish list. All hand made and a photographers dreamy dream. I did joke and pretend the pinch it but with a price tag of around £4000 I decided it wouldn’t be a good idea if they ever wanted me for a Photo shoot!! Now on the other hand these babies below are more in my price range, the latest sound box that connects to your phone wirelessly. The sound that was heard coming from these was tremendous. I need one for photo shoots that are in extreme places without electricity. Just imagine this dinky little number by the pool playing your favourite tunes or sitting sipping a nice glass of red while watching the sun go down, with delightful chill out music in the background. Whats brilliant these are just under £100 too!At the World Duty free bar we got to sample the cocktails and whiskeys. I opted for my all time favourite that is a Virgin Marry. I have to say it was possibly the best one I have ever had. Compliments to the gentleman creating them.The World Duty Free section will be offering whisky tasting, complimentary facials, massages and treatments, all are amazing I can reassure you. Now for the highlight of the day for me and that was the Plaza Premium Lounge. This will be the only independent lounge offering the most exquisite taylor made massages. With an incredible array of highly trained and courteous staff, this company has you and only you the passenger at the heart of what they are offering. First class treatment that fulfils every wish, every tiny little desire you might require. It will have 5 sleeping suites, shower rooms, business centre facilities, Wi-Fi workstations, private resting areas and a free restaurant, not just a cold buffet either, but with really sublime hot food, delicious Moorish premium dishes . For just £38 you can have 2 hours of access that includes all the above and you could even have a an exclusive wellness spa massage, you must book when you know you are visiting Terminal 2 as the massage I had was sublime. All this and there is also a Champagne bar. I really need to book a holiday and hope for delays!! Their ethos is service and superior service at that. Sleek, contemporary and accessible to everyone, Five star luxury at reasonable prices. Their products are delicious too, and the candles…well the candles. You will just have to visit them to experience this for yourself won’t you! Tearing myself away from all that for a spot of salmon sampling and caviar slurping. Nothing else would have done it mind you. Caviar House and Prunier offers incredible Balik salmon, caviar, chocolate and champagne. Every one of us at the event was overwhelmed at the flavours. I was instantly taken back to my childhood sitting on my fathers boat, lapping up the sea breeze and the salty air. This caviar not only tasted triumphant but made me feel like I had been whisked off on holiday. The ice bar was amazing, full to the brim with treats.With all this going on at the Terminal would you need anything else, oh yes you could. Personal shopping is the ultimate experience in its self and at Heathrow its all complimentary. With over 400 outlets at your disposal you can book a consultation with one of the accredited stylists fluent in 38 languages. Heathrow has thought of everything thats for sure.Now for some fun foodie news as Heathrow also welcomes Heston Blumenthal and his fantastic team to Terminal 2, with the opening of The Perfectionists’ Cafe. Celebrating all this is British from burgers made by grinding the meat grains in the same direction to create the most juicy and delicious burger you have ever eaten. Crunchy fresh cooked chips with a wicked batter coating. Pizzas cooked in wood burring oven and the option for a 15 minute menu if you are in a hurry.

I can’t wait to fly with Heathrow and want to thank them so much for hosting the mind blowing #ExperienceT2 it was by far the best press day I have been to this year. With 2.5 Billion invested in this development you are really in for a wonderful holiday right from the moment you step into the airport. Right what flights are setting off from Terminal 2….?!!!

Finding Fennel

Fennel is one plant that is more commonly used when dried and in curries. If you are looking for recipes for fennel the bulb itself they can be eaten raw and is delightful added to a salad. Here is a really simple dish you should try. Keep the flavours delicate as fennel has a rather a distinctive aniseed flavour. It pairs really well with celery and Lemon.

Eaten with a light tomato and basil salad for lunch, it’s a perfect healthy and rather wonderful way to keep your skin clear and also keep those dreaded pounds off too. After a weekend indulging in a few glasses of bubbly or your favourite wine, fennel is an ideal snack as its a diuretic and it has liver protecting properties when eaten raw, so it will help get rid of toxins. It is an amazing source of vitamin C, a good way to get fibre in your diet and not only does it taste great it will help to reduce elevated cholesterol levels. What a wonderful little plant this is!!

Here is a filling and easy dish to prepare for lunch or even a side dish with a nice slab of grilled salmon for supper. I have an amazing salmon and strawberry recipe I will share with you soon too! Keep your eyes out for that. Anyway back to the fennel dish.

You will need:

1 Fennel bulb
1 Lemon
6 celery stalks
2 tbs Olive oil
Ground black pepper
Tomatoes
Basil leaves to garnish

Slice up the celery and fennel in a food processor.

Add the freshly squeezed Lemon juice, Olive oil and lashings of black pepper. With clean hands get stuck in and it mix up. Garnish with basil leaves and serve with Sliced beef tomatoes, a drizzle of olive oil and a few basil leaves. Really simple and totally mind blowing on the taste buds.
