Zaggora Hotpants Review: Do They Work?

I have heard of leggings and tight with special technology that makes people slimmer or improves cellulite, but I have never heard of a product which claims it can do it that has such a following. Zaggora have over 250,000 likes on Facebookand have sold over 420,000 pairs of their ‘HotPants’

So, that is the science over, but do they work?

I have been exercising to lose the last bit of extra weight I still had from Christmas (ahem) and there was just this bit from my stomach that would not budge. I decided to do the two-week challenge, but to be honest, I did not need the other week.

Oxfam launches nationwide search to find a member of the public to see for themselves how money donated to the charity is spent

Oxfam is today launching a nationwide search to find a member of the public to travel to one of their projects and see for themselves how money donated to the charity is spent. The successful applicant of this unique opportunity will report back with their personal experience of Oxfam’s work helping communities out of poverty and will feature in a major advertising campaign.

Oxfam’s research highlights that uncertainty about whether donated money gets to where it’s needed or if it even makes a difference long term can be a major barrier to giving. The ‘See For Yourself’ campaign aims to dispel these myths and show how giving just £3 a month to Oxfam really can transform people’s lives. The core of the initiative is being open and honest about how donated money is spent by showing Oxfam’s work from an impartial point of view.

Earlier this year mum-of-two and Oxfam supporter, Jodie Sandford, became the first person ever to take part in ‘See For Yourself’ when she travelled to Zimbabwe to see Oxfam’s work first-hand. Now, in an unprecedented step, the charity is widening the recruitment for the next phase and is specifically looking for someone who is not an Oxfam supporter to travel with them to Malawi, southeast Africa.

Oxfam are looking for someone who is curious and not afraid to ask questions. They will need to be willing to embrace new experiences as the trip itself will be physically and emotionally challenging. The journey will take them to an Oxfam project, where they will meet the local people and share their personal account of their thoughts and feelings about directly witnessing Oxfam’s work.

The whole experience will be filmed as part of a TV, print and online campaign which will launch this autumn to encourage more people to donate to Oxfam on a regular basis.

Oxfam’s Paul Vanags, Head of Public Fundraising added: “Regular donations make Oxfam’s life-changing, life-saving projects possible but we urgently need to do more. We believe that the most powerful way to encourage more people to give is to show them our work through the eyes of someone impartial who’s never seen it before. This trip will not only offer an experience of a lifetime, it will also form the basis of a major initiative to help us find new regular supporters.”

Prospective candidates will need to hold a valid UK passport and be available to travel for up to two weeks in July or August 2012. Recruitment is open from 6-14 June 2012 and Oxfam will be interviewing short-listed applicants on 21-22 June 2012.

Two thirds of women regularly fib to partner about real cost of new clothing

Survey by online fashion retailer Lovarni.com also finds one in 10 women keeps every new fashion purchase secret

The majority of women lie to their partners about the amount of money they spend on clothes, a new survey reveals.

Two-thirds admit they “usually always” tell a porkie about the real cost of a new dress, top or pair of shoes.

Most argue that a “little white lie” or a “harmless fib” is better than telling the truth — and starting an argument.

Incredibly, almost 10 per cent rely on their partner’s lack of observation and keep EVERY new clothes purchase a secret.

They only ever come clean if they are caught out by bank statements or hard-to-hide delivery parcels.

The figures were released yesterday by online fashion store www.Lovarni.com, which surveyed 1,000 of its female shoppers.

A spokesman for the site said women are spending up to 50 per cent more online than what they do on the High Street because there is a less of a tell-tale paper trail.

She said: “It’s clear from our research that men are totally clueless about the amount of money their wives or girlfriends are spending on new clothes.

“Our figures show that most female shoppers usually always lie, or tell porkie-pies, about the actual cost of new purchases.

“Indeed, a small number keep every new purchase a secret and almost all only spill the beans if they are forced to do so.

“The upshot of all of this is that between eight and 12 per cent of women admit spending one and a half times as much online as on the High Street – primarily to prevent arguments, but also because they are less likely to get caught.”

According to a recent survey by ecommerce company WorldPay, the average British women spends £315 online on fashion and clothing per year.

Shoes are the most popular fashion and clothing item bought online, with almost 50 per cent of women having purchased a pair in the last year, while the most money is spent on handbags — an average of £187.

The new poll of 18-40 year-olds found that 62 per cent of women in relationships feel guilty or embarrassed about the cost of their wardrobe, and find it easier to lie than to justify their spend.

Virtually all (78 per cent) believe it is better to tell a white lie than risk a row, while a tenth said “complete secrecy” was safer-still.

According to Lovarni.com, a small proportion of women are spending more online than on the High Street because hiding numerous bags can be “very, very difficult”.

“Put simply, online shopping allows consumers to purchase their guilty pleasures without worrying about hauling bags around town,” a spokesman for said.

“It’s also easier to arrange deliveries when he’s out of the house, and saves having to hide lots of shopping bags.”

New footage hits social networks this week of record-breaking athlete proving it’s quicker to freerun through the UK’s most congested cities than to use public transport.

The ‘Man vs. Tube’ race saw the UK’s quickest mode of public transport fail to win by an incredible 11 minutes and 10 seconds. Top Freerunner and Guinness World Record holder CHASE ARMITAGE was challenged by top British actor TAMER HASSAN (DEAD MAN RUNNING, THE BUSINESS) to beat the time it takes to travel a 1.3 mile course on the London Underground. While TAMER HASSAN relied on public transport, freerunner CHASE ARMITAGE back-flipped and wall jumped his way to the finish line first, despite getting lost on the way.

RESULTS:

* Chase Armitage completed the challenge in 11 minutes and 21 seconds.
* Tamer Hassan completed the in 22 minutes and 31 seconds (the projected time for this journey is 14 minutes).
* The total time difference was 11 minutes and 10 seconds.

TAMER HASSAN was inspired to test out the method after starring opposite Danny Dyer in the action adventure film, ‘FREERUNNER’, out now on DVD and Blu-ray (Revolver Entertainment). The movie depicts freerunners crossing an entire city in 60 minutes, to fend off dangerous gangsters – arguably a similar pressure felt by commuters in the UK every day, in their race to get to work on time.

Fashion and art come together to help mend broken hearts

Last night saw the greatest names from the worlds of fashion, art and music descend on Proud Camden in support of the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) ‘Mending Broken Hearts Appeal’.

The BHF Tunnel of Love party is in its second year and attracted a host of high-profile faces in support of the ground-breaking appeal that aims to give hope to millions of heart patients and their families worldwide. Fashionable guests including Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe, Laura Bailey, Cara Delevingne, Sir Peter Blake, Katie Hillier, Patrick Grant, Mollie King, Pixie Geldof, Peaches Geldof & Tom Cohen, Sir Harold Tillman, Suki Waterhouse, Alice Temperley, Clara Paget, Miles Kane, Jacqui Ainsley, Gemma Cairney, Lara Bohinc, Little Boots, Tallulah Harlech and Hilary Alexander celebrated the work of the charity at this 1920’s-themed night featuring games, such as the Radley Roulette and performances from Frisky and Mannish and live music sets from the Broken Heart DJ’s .

The evening included auctions of fashion and striking contemporary art from Damien Hirst, Sir Peter Blake, Jim Dine, Cartier, Mulberry, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Antonio Berardi dress and Stephen Webster which raised thousands of pounds for the charity. Top British Cara Delevingne caused a bidding war during the live auction hosted by Harry Dalmeny of Sotheby’s and eventually went home with a trip to the Maldives with Soneva Fushi.

Guests were also treated to cocktails by La Maison Fontaine Absinthe and Rhum St Barth. Prosecco and wine was kindly provided by Tunnel of Love sponsors Marks & Spencer.

All of the proceeds from the Tunnel of Love party support the BHF’s Mending Broken Hearts Appeal.

At the moment, there is no cure for a broken heart. Once your heart muscle is damaged by a heart attack, it can never fully recover. But there is hope. Scientists funded by the BHF are striving to develop the technology to repair damaged heart muscle so that one day we could literally mend broken hearts within a generation. Together, we can mend broken hearts and make medical history.

Fox Survey: Do Brits Love Foxes?

Earlier this month Channel 4 launched Foxes Live: Wild in the City, an interactive natural history event which put the power into the hands of the viewers. Anyone who owned a smart phone was a potential wildlife photographer and was able to contribute to new natural history research by taking part in the largest ever urban fox survey.

Before the survey, no-one really knew how many urban foxes lived in the UK and what the general public really thought of them. With the last study on urban foxes carried out over 30 years ago, Channel 4 is now able to share brand new wildlife research and information.

Thousands of people took part in the survey sharing their thoughts and opinions on foxes and whether they believed urban foxes lived up to their cunning reputation.

Over 11,500 people completed the survey with a massive 89% of people living in urban areas saying they liked foxes and were in favour of them living in their cities. People who weren’t so keen on foxes were those who encounter them more frequently.

Females liked foxes more than males and those aged 18 and younger preferred them to people aged 18 and above (18-50 age group). Residents in Northern Ireland were the biggest fox lovers (92% liked foxes) and foxes were least liked in London (19% disliked foxes).

On the web site there were 17,532 fox sightings logged in total in the UK. Southern England had the highest frequency of sightings. Over 75% of people in London claimed to see a fox once a week or more.

When it comes to how foxes interact with other animals, 8% of people think that foxes might regularly attack pets but only 5% of people actually reported fox attacks on pets. And foxes may be the surprise victims: people reported they were three times more likely to see foxes being chased, attacked and even killed by pets than the other way round.

Eight out of 10 people agreed that seeing foxes enriched their lives and 36% of people living in urban areas admitting to feeding foxes in their gardens. Less than 1 out of 10 people said foxes should be removed from cities.

Foxes Live: Wild in The City was backed by The RSPCA and featured experts including Dawn Scott, Head of Biology and Biomedical Sciences Division at The University of Brighton. Dawn, who also analysed the online survey results, said ‘This information will provide us with a better understanding of the national distribution of urban foxes and enable us to produce new population estimates. It has also helped us to understand people’s perceptions of both the benefits and issues of living with urban foxes.’
