With different textures and Valentino branding across the shoe to give a true ‘designer’ look, these are the perfect sneakers to upgrade your streetwear look with for the new season.

Rock Stud Heeled Combat Boots

If combat style chunky boots are what you are looking for, then these heeled boots, which also feature Valentino’s rock stud furnishings, offer great comfort as well as the fierce look you want. Made in high quality Italian leather, these boots will last you through many more winter seasons to come, and the chunky heel gives a feminine look that is great with jeans. These boots are also a great way to add a more edgy, bold look to cute dresses, especially when worn with lace or fishnet hosiery and a leather jacket.

Pink and Blue Cage Garavani Heels

If you want a sexy evening look to step out in this winter, then these beautiful stilettos with cage style straps are the perfect choice. The pink trim and straps against the blue body of the shoe make for an eye-catching contrast that looks incredible with black dresses, and the combination of the strappy design and the stud details makes these shoes as glamorous as you would expect from Valentino.

This shoe design is available in other colors and textures, including a cashmere boucle design in off white, as well as of course classic black versions, so if you prefer neutral colors for your evening shoes, it is still well worth checking out this model. The cage style of stiletto heel is one that will never go out of fashion, and provides a little more interest to your evening shoe than the classic court shoe or pump style.

Tan Shearling Boots

If you love the warm feel and winter comfort of shearling boots that encase your feet and ankles in warmth and softness, but you want something a bit more shapely and sophisticated than Ugg style boots, then these beautifully made Valentino shearling heeled boots in tan are a fabulous investment. The classic heeled structure makes these boots elegant and luxurious, and the Valentino branding detail adds a classy touch. Wear these over leggings or thick tights with your favorite winter sweater dresses, or pair them with jeans for a soft yet sexy winter look.

These are just five of the many fantastic designs you can find if you browse the latest women’s footwear offerings from Valentino. Whatever type of shoe or boot you are interested in adding to your winter 2021 wardrobe, you are certain to find styles you will fall in love with if you take a look at their beautiful new collection.

Where is the Wellness Trend Headed?

Health and wellness trends change over time as new ideas surface and gain traction with the health-conscious public. It’s always sensible to look out for new thinking on the subject of wellness because, as medical research confirms how alternative ideas about medicine have greater validity, products are released to provide new relief or a boost to health backed by the research.

Here are some of the wellness trends in 2019.

Personal Massage Treatment for Sore Muscles

The Theragun first got noticed at tennis tournaments when players began using it to relieve muscle tension by encouraging the muscles to relax again. The device eases muscles which relieves nerve tension and stops the pain. Nerve pain is one of the worst types of pain to deal with because it cuts right through you and painkillers don’t help much.

The HyperVolt hand massager is another percussive tool that works similarly and has been seen being used in chiropractors across the U.S. before making spinal adjustments to patients.

Be sure to visit sites like UpgradedReviews.com to find great deals on wellness products that you’re interested in purchasing.

CBD and Hemp Products Go More Mainstream

As the legislation clears the way, consumers are using hemp-based and CBD products to relieve fatigue and anxiety to feel better.

There are now many of these products that offer wellness benefits and are sold in spray, oil or edible form. The natural anti-inflammatory properties are the main driver here. It also helps consumers stop taking traditional medicine like aspirin or ibuprofen which is a popular change.

It’s not for everyone but nevertheless, the market and number of providers is expanding rapidly.

Oat Milk

Oat milk is the new almond milk. For milk lovers who look for the latest thing, oat milk delivers all the goodness they expect and a rich full-bodied taste that satisfies their taste buds too.

Oatly is the biggest brand to watch in this space. They’ve had to move to a larger factory and increased production by over 1,000% since oat milk began to rival almond milk in popularity.

Brain Health Becomes More Relevant

With the ongoing research into Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s, the understanding of the human brain is getting better. This is leading to new products to help you get more from your brain matter.

According to Lisa Mosconi, who previously wrote Brain Food, it all comes down to what we feed our brain. When we take in rich nourishment, our brains function better. However, when we eat poorly with low nutritional meals, our cognition and long-term brain health is at risk.

Eating more plant-based foods and avoiding additives is leading the charge. Plant-based burgers are becoming a hot space for some food companies. They’re even perfecting the look and smell of a beef burger without the animal fats. Even non-Vegans are interested in this healthier, lower fat option to fast food.

Fruit Juices on the Way Out?

We’ve seen the earlier trend towards drinking a glass of fruit juice in the morning at breakfast. However, it’s now been indicated that we should be careful about that. Researchers have indicated that the sugar in fruit juice isn’t as great for our health when consuming more than a glass a day. Therefore, while consumers have moved increasingly away from soda, switching to fruit juice isn’t much better for the teeth, gums or overall health either.

Healthier flavored waters and vitamin water solutions are encouraging consumers to stick with water and avoid sugar-loaded beverages altogether. Beverage companies are responding well to this new trend with many bringing out healthier drinking options, including Coca Cola and Pepsi too.

Many of the wellness trends are good ones this year. Pick your favorite one and try it out to see how you like it. You might be surprised.

How Are UK Dinner Trends Changing?

With 66% of all UK adults describing themselves as passionate about food and drink, the UK is becoming a foodie nation. We Brits love our grub, and we’ve got big opinions on our favourite meals, how they should be eaten and with whom. What’s our attitude to dinner in particular? Oldrids & Downtown, providers of dinner sets, finds out.

Britain’s favourite dinners

Opinions differ across the UK when it comes to the nation’s favourite dishes – different surveys tend to reveal different results, so we’ll try and give you an overall picture.

According to the Spruce, Britain’s Top 10 favourite British foods are:

  •   Bacon sandwiches
  •   Roast dinners
  •   A Cup of Tea
  •   Fish and Chips
  •   Yorkshire Pudding
  •   Full English Breakfast
  •   Cornish pasties
  •   Strawberries and cream
  •   Teatime Treat, Crumpets
  •   Beer

As reported by The Express, a survey commissioned by Welsh Lamb discovered that British food still came out on top – roast dinners and shepherd’s pie are dishes that UK diners favoured when asked which cuisine they would choose. Italian food scooped second place, with dishes like spaghetti Bolognese and pasta, followed by Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisine. The report also found that 56% of Brits are sourcing their food more locally, and paying more attention to where their food comes from.

Family dinners.

Whilst we are progressively becoming a foodie nation – it seems traditional meal times are becoming a thing of the past, with research showing that fewer British families than ever are eating together, and those that do so tend to eat in front of the television. Over 20% of British families only sit down to dinner once or twice a week, and one in five has family meals in front of the television.According to 60% of parents, ready meals are a preference, as they provide a quick and simple solution when faced with time constraints.

Should we make time for family dinners?

There are a number of benefits in sitting down to eat as a family, according to Health.com.

  •   Children may eat their vegetables. Research has found that children who eat with their families are more likely to eat fruit and vegetables.
  •   More fruit and vegetables means a healthier family. By eating together, a family has a greater chance of eating fruit and veg – making them healthier overall.
  •   Get time to catch up on your day. Eating dinner together as a family is time well-spent. It gives everyone a chance to catch up on their day and talk and listen to each other’s news.
  •   Save money by cooking dinners. As well as being healthier for you, cooking nourishing family meals is much cheaper than eating out. With a little planning – and a little batch cooking – you can make sure you grab a bargain and prepare nutritious meals.

Dinner parties

The formal-style dinner parties of the 80s and 90s has disappeared, according to the Telegraph. Traditional dinner parties of the past had a focus on everyone eating the same meal, with prawn cocktail and fondue on the menu and wine on the table.

As trends shift, dinner party menus are more flexible now to incorporate dietary requirements, with diet-conscious salads, meat and grains and locally-sourced ingredients.

Throwing a dinner party

Despite the shift to a more relaxed, informal style of dining, dining with friends is still popular with Brits. Here are a few tips to hosting a 2017 dinner party.

  •  Go for food you can prepare earlier in the day so you can spend time with guests. Stick something in the slow cooker like a stew or curry that can cook while you enjoy yourself.
  •  Put everything in serving dishes and let guests help themselves. Think big salads, rice dishes, assorted meats and sides.
  •  Don’t be afraid of short cuts. If it’s easier for you to buy the bread and use shop-bought pastry just do it.
  •  Make a playlist to set the mood. Cater to your guests and make it varied and fun – you can even include some songs for a sing along/dance off, depending on the liveliness of your guests.
  •  Relax. If you’re at ease, your guests will feel at ease, and everyone will have a better time for it.

What Skin Needs Hydrating Facial Serum + Trends in Green Beauty for 2017

hydratingfacialserumwhatskinneedsI am a huge fan of green beauty. Anything natural or organic usually gets my approval. I have been using What Skin Needs Hydrating Facial Serum for months now and I really love it. It has hydrating in the title, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Plenty of beauty products don’t back up their promises. This serum however left my skin feeling so hydrated that I rarely used a moisturiser afterwards. It is not too greasy and it really sinks into the skin. It left my skin looking amazing. I cannot sing its praises enough. It is light and non-greasy, always a win. It has jojoba oil which improves skin tone, and it also contains Plantolin which has anti-inflammatory properties. Great for scarring, pigmentation, skin cell renewal, skin balancing and hydrating & nourishing skin. Great stuff.

Now here are some Trends in Green Beauty for 2017

Having flawless skin is like effortlessly having great style – It’s always on trend!

One of the easiest ways to achieve flawless skin is to use natural and organic products as many have multiple properties which can clean, clear and protect your skin.

We’ve rounded up the top 5 organic beauty trends to look out for next year:

SEAWEED

We all lust after thick and voluminous hair, and just like mermaids, one of the best ingredients for thicker hair and a healthier scalp is from the sea.

Absorbing all the nutrients from the ocean, seaweed has high levels of calcium, and omega 3 and 6. These essential fatty acids are great for stimulating hair follicles, promoting growth and hydrating your scalp and hair.

Just like a green juice for your hair, the marine extracts help hair to rebuild itself and grow stronger.

Including seaweed in your diet is also a great way to keep your thyroid gland healthy, which in turn can effect the health of your hair, Dr Marilyn Glenville, author of Natural Alternatives to Sugar (Amazon, £7.17) explains:

“The Japanese also eat good quantities of seaweed which contain important trace minerals like selenium and iodine for healthy thyroid function. A wealth of immune boosting minerals, vitamins and amino acids can be found in seaweed, so try adding a little to your soups or mix with mashed potato.”

JOJOBA

There are hundreds of different oils in skincare ingredients but only a few have cult status.

This organic oil is known to be great for balancing oil production in the skin as it almost tricks the skin into believing it already has produced enough oil. Jojoba oil is a non-comedogenic, so it is perfect for all skin types including those with acne or sensitive skin.

Skincare expert at What Skin NeedsSonja Dymalovski, recommends using a skincare that includes natural oils such as jojoba oil, as they reduce the chance of breakouts.

“Natural oils tend to be much gentler on the skin which is why so many people favour organic skincare. Jojoba oil is easily absorbed into the skin, which is wonderful for people who might have drier skin. I would recommend using a organic serum like What Skin Needs Hydrating Facial Serum (£17.99, http://www.whatskinneeds.co.uk), as it also contains Plantolin which has anti-inflammatory properties.”

PROBIOTICS

Many celebrities use probiotics as an added extra in their beauty regime, Gwyneth Paltrow, Miranda Kerr and Halle Berry has all stressed the impact of a healthy gut in their skincare.

Nutritionist, Cassandra Barns, explains:

“The skin is also closely connected to the gut and supporting gut function can help to reduce skin outbreaks. There are a number of studies linking the use of probiotics to positive outcomes for eczema, acne, rosacea and anti-aging.”

Probiotics can have a calming effect on the skin by balancing the bacteria in your digestive system.

“To support your skin include fermented foods in your diet, such as kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi and miso soup. You can also take a supplement, such as Pro-Ven 25 Billion (Boots, £13.95)”

POMEGRANATE

We know we love eating them but what about in skincare.

A powerhouse antioxidant, anything with pomegranate listed in their ingredients is sure to have amazing anti aging properties, boost collagen levels, and can help to protect the skin from further damage.

New studies have proven the anti-aging powers of pomegranates, so try and get as much of them in you and on your face as possible.[1]

Shona Wilkinson, from Superfood UK, explains:

“Pomegranates are native to Iran and India, in Ayurveda they are a symbol of fertility and prosperity!  They are packed full of nutrients and contain high levels of vitamin C. Try tossing the pomegranate seeds on a salad for a brilliantly colourful, crunchy, and nutritious addition and add them to your smoothies for a great taste.”

GREEN TEA

Just another reason to go green; not only is green tea packed full of antioxidants and nutrients, great for brain function and a natural boost to your metabolic rate, it also has a wonderful effect on the skin.

The high concentration of catechins gives Green Tea its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-aging effect on the skin. Studies have shown it can also reduce the risk of sunburn![2]

Nutritionist and weight-loss expert, Lily Soutter, explains how green tea can also curb your hunger cravings:

“The catechins found in green tea also help balance blood sugar levels. An added bonus is that green tea can help to lower cholesterol and triglycerides, as the polyphenols can help the body both eliminate cholesterol and stop its absorption. Try having 2 to 3 cups daily, in between meals.”

What To Buy This Spring

Military, spring, fashion, what to wear, what to buy

After what feels like the longest winter in history spring is finally here. This means two things: warmer weather and new clothes. It’s hard to know which one is more exciting. To get you in the mood we have put together a shopping guide to give you some inspiration. From the 1970s to mesh dresses, we give you the lowdown on the trends to keep in mind when you are shopping for your spring wardrobe.

Yellow

Yellow is in this season. In fact, yellow is the only colour to be seen in this season. If you think it won’t work for you then don’t worry. There is a shade of yellow that will suit every complexion. Choose between canary, amber, marigold or saffron. Just figure out your skin’s undertone and then find the hue that suits it.

The 1970s

The 1970s are back in a big way. Think hippy and 1970s Marrakech. Long, billowing dresses are right on trend, think luxury bohemian. Floral patterns are a given, especially on shirts. Brown coats and suede also featured heavily. Don’t be scared to clash and add a scarf.

Black And White

Monochrome was a huge trend on the catwalk. There were a lot of black and white suits, a node to one of the original glamorous girls, Bianca Jagger. Lanvin, Giambattista Valli and Céline all sent black and white suits down the catwalk.

Denim

Denim never goes out of fashion but this season jeans are baggy and cropped. Gucci meanwhile sent models down the catwalk in a little cowgirl dress which gave a nod to the trend without making you look like you just stepped off the ranch. Burberry on the other hand choose contrasting suede panels on their classic trench shape.

Shirtdresses

Shirtdresses may be a functional classic but this season they are also in. The classic shape was given many twists on the catwalk. Think drop waists and high slits. It is both tame and sexy. Shirtdresses go with everything, they can be either functional or glammed up for the evening. Either way, it’s a wardrobe classic.

Military

Nope, not time to join the army. Military is big this season, but don’t worry: it is completely wearable. Khaki may have hit the catwalk over 40 years ago but it is still a classic and is back in a big way. The olive drab hue is best and the catwalk went mad for military-style coats and dresses. Take inspiration from the suede khaki pieces at Chanel’s feminist protest. Ralph Lauren went for safari-style military glamour and Marc Jacobs went for a sexy silhouette.

Mesh.

Rita Ora caused a stir at the Vanity Fair Oscar party wearing a nearly-naked black mesh dress. Heidi Klum, Gigi Hadid and Irina Shayk also followed the trend at the Academy Awards after party. This one is only for the brave and you may want to tone it down for the daytime. You can give a nod to the trend without flashing anyone.

Is Natural Beauty Skin Deep? UK Breast enlargements falling demand

great implants, breast enlargement, trends, cosmetic surgery, cosmeticThe Era of Natural Beauty? Falling Demand for Breast Enlargements.

Are attitudes to cosmetic surgery changing among UK women and men?

The UK’s leading cosmetic surgery law firm, Cosmetic Surgery Solicitors, who have a decade’s experience in this field have brought the latest and startling figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (BAAPS) to our attention. If these figures are anything to go by, then attitudes are certainly changing. With overall figures for plastic surgery in the UK decreasing in 2014 by 10 per cent, it would seem that cosmetic surgery has lost its lustre among British women.

Is this part of a new Cosmetic Surgery trend?

Certainly, the influence of the fuller-figured celebrity seems to have waned considerably as British women last year opted for more limited beauty surgeries with subtle cosmetic enhancements replacing the more obvious charms of glamour model style boob jobs and dermal fillers.

The figures from BAAPS, an organisation representing most private cosmetic surgeons in the UK, shows clearly that for the first time in the last five years, cosmetic surgery is on the decline and in a large way.

Much of this slump can be explained by women avoiding breast augmentations. While breast enlargements are still by far the most popular cosmetic operation in the UK, their popularity among women has deflated by a huge 25 per cent. Cosmetic surgeons attribute this partly to the PIP breast implant scandal where some breast implants were filled with silicone unfit for human usage. This has meant women are now erring on the side of caution when deciding on cosmetic surgery.

But the overall decrease in cosmetic operations has also been driven by a desire for a more natural look that is currently more popular among celebrities. It would account for breast reductions increasing in popularity and bucking the overall trend. That attitude has been called ‘tweaked, not tucked’ and appears to have become a new beauty ideal with the demand for understated anti-aging surgery such as eyelid surgery and dermal fillers remaining mostly unchanged and popular while large cosmetic changes like tummy tucks and nose jobs falling sharply by 20 per cent.

And it’s not just women; there’s been an overall drop of 15 per cent for men. Nose jobs, the most popular procedure for men in 2013, dropped out of the top position with a massive fall of 30 per cent while the more subtle eyelid surgery is now the most popular reason for men to brave the surgeon’s knife.

Thanks to Cosmetic Surgery Solicitors for their input to this article. If you want to find out more about cosmetic surgery negligence then check out their website at www.cosmeticsurgerysolicitors.co.uk or call them on 0808 256 9318.

One In Eight British Adults Are Now Vegetarian

Leek And Lentil Hotpot Recipe Vegetarian FoodcookingSomething is afoot. A change in our eating habits which has become more than a trend. Sparked by people becoming more environmentally conscious and not wanting to contribute to the damage that cheap meat causes. More people are becoming vegan, pescetarian (eats fish but no meat), vegetarian and flexitarian (has a mostly plant based diet but occasionally eats meat. I would put myself at the end. I have tried vegetarianism before but it never worked out. The first time I got really ill and when I started eating meat again I always made sure it was organic, free-range meat and that the animal had had a good life). To be honest the thing that most put me off vegetarianism was, and is, aggressive vegetarians. There are few things worse in life than an aggressive vegetarian who is always getting on their high horse and telling everyone else what to eat and how to live their life. Debate is fine, not lecturing. My husband is now mostly pescetarian, we eat mostly vegetables at home. This has been a learning curve when cooking meals and has also been a trial whilst pregnant and constantly craving meat. My husband and I are not alone however.

According to Mintel, around 12 per cent of people now follow vegetarian or vegan diets – rising to 20 per cent of those aged between 16 and 24. Millions more are flexitarian. A staggering one in eight British adults are now vegetarian. The truth is, we are all eating less meat. The meat-free market is now worth £625million a year and growing all the time.

That is quite something. We will be doing more vegetarian recipes on Frost and will also be doing a lot of cooking videos on our YouTube channel. So watch out for both and let us know what you think.
