CobWebKnits Lamb Newborn Baby Hat Review

When we saw the CobWebKnits baby hats we could not help but melt a little. Not only are they so small, they are also just super-cute. They are machine washable soft acrylic yarn that is soft to the touch and won’t irritate baby’s skin. Being machine washable at 40 C they are practical too and dry quickly. These hats are adorable and of the highest quality. I was very impressed by the hat, the quick delivery and the presentation.

The 2015 Revival Of 70’s Fashion… A Pussybow Too Far?

gallery_big_70s_retro_spinrg_2015_trends_milan[1] SS15-SEVENTIES[1]

Was it a collective prodigality that triggered Spring/Summer’s new love of showing off?

A desire for fabulous wealth?

Or is fashion’s latest switch part of a conspiracy to make us shriek “Help, I’m out of style!  I need new clothes!”?

All of the above are true, but there’s also the boredom element.

Our love of candy-coloured babedom is powerful but has it run its course?

Has the Seventies secretary gone one pussycat bow too far, and as for spots – enough already!

70S-SS-2015-Trend-2[1]spring_summer_2015_fashion_trends_1970s_fashion_fashionisers[1]

This season embraces all things 70’s and when it comes to 70’s add-ons, accessories are the icing on the fashion cake.

They are often the most practical and desirable items from a collection and the right selection can transform an outfit, key a wardrobe together and give a nod to each fluctuating trend without following it slavishly.

And the range of covetable trimmings this season is growing all the time – once, you could never have too many hats, bags and shoes, now sunglasses, belts, corsages and luggage can be added to the ever-expanding list.

FW1516Shoes-0[1]

Block heels and wedges are the favourites for this season, alluring metallic in grown-up shades with strong texturizing.

Chanel-Spring-2015-Bags-14[1]

Chanel brought protest-inspired items to the catwalk, theming some of its bags around the zeitgeist-y notion of feminist protest (a theme which was not treated with any sort of reverence) and others around a watercolor that Karl Lagerfeld painted.

So, commit to memory now … bold status prints, geometry and dazzling swirls are making a noise, prints go tech with sophisticated digital patterns, psychedelic prints create sexy curves and poptastic infusions of technicolour gorgeousness take 70’s inspired fashion for the 2015 season to a new level.

I was proud to act as Brand Ambassador for Wentworth Jewels during London Fashion Week AW2015, adorned with pendants, rings and earrings which reflected the elegance and versatility of Peter Wentworth’s work.

Perfect with plunging necklines and the ultimate in décolletage decoration – the pendant is making a comeback, and all eyes were on the hand-blown Venetian glass necklace with bright white diamonds which I accompanied with rare black Tahitian earrings pierced with shots of diamonds.

The Baby Show Review | 2015 Highlights

The Baby Show Review The Baby Show Review 2015

You may have noticed by now that Frost Magazine has a new(ish) parenting section. To find great articles for it, and have a bit of fun, I headed to The Baby Show at the Excel Centre. The Baby Show is the UK’s leading event for bump, baby and beyond. This year it also incorporated The Work & Family Show. a section sponsored by My Family Care and dedicated to helping new parents return to work after having a family – giving them access to a range of ideas for starting up their own business and advice on how to make the successful transition to the role of a working mum or dad. The Baby Show itself is sponsored by Made for Mums.

The Baby Show Review talks

There is a lot to do at The Baby Show and you really get your money’s worth. There are a lot of great exhibitors and you can buy pretty much anything you could ever want for your offspring as well as getting plenty of advice. In fact there was over 200 brands exhibiting including Mothercare.com, iCandy, Chicco, Emma’s Diary, mamas & papas, Maxi-Cosi, Quinny, Stokke and Tommee Tippee. There was plenty of talks on The Baby Show stage and the Work & Family Show stage. On The Baby Show stage nutritionist and author, Annabel Karmel MBE gave a great talk on weening, leaving the audience feeling inspired. Other experts who gave great talks included breast-feeding gurus Clare Byam-Cook and Geraldine Miskin, sleep experts Jo Tantum and Lisa Clegg, fitness guru, Michelle Heaton and child safety expert, Tracey Taylor from the British Red Cross. Tracey was great and showed the audience how to save their baby’s life. It was fascinating stuff and I can recommend taking a Red Cross class on first aid for your baby.

The Baby Show Review sling

Treading the boards of The Work & Family Show stage experts include Daily Telegraph journalist and author, Bryony Gordon, Stylist Editor, Lisa Smosarski, business coach and founder of CEO Mums, Nicola Huelin, Chief Executive of Working Families, Sarah Jackson and prize-winning journalist and former editor of Psychologies and Good Housekeeping, Louise Chunn.

Louise Chunn gave a great talk on being a working mother. Louise also talked about the fact that her own mother was always starting businesses and that her most read article was one about her regrets about being a working mother.

This year’s charity partner was Theodora’s Children’s Charity which works hard to fund laughter in children’s hospitals, hospices and specialist care centres across the UK.  They train ‘Giggle Doctors’ who are professional performers such as magicians, singers, actors and musicians, to bring magical moments and laughter to brave children in difficult times.  It is a worthy cause so donate if you can.

The Baby Show Reviewannabel

Highlights on The Work & Family Show included:

A CV Master Class – how to make your CV stand out from the crowd after a career break

Building your Network – building relationships

Balancing work and family

Building your personal brand – gaining confidence and believing in yourself

Visitors will listen to industry experts and inspirational working mums give their advice on how to balance work and family and choose the career path best for them.  The Baby Show stage will also host a dedicated session on Shared Parental Leave and what it will mean.

Other highlights of The Baby Show include:

Catwalk shows with all the latest fashions in maternity, baby and toddler wear

Exclusive show offers and competitions from top parenting brands

A complimentary crèche where parents can drop off their little ones

The Baby Show Stars’ themed competition held by Bumpkins Photography where the Show’s cutest baby will be awarded a high end, exclusive photo shoot

Dedicated baby facilities including the Tommee Tippee feeding area where parents can take advantage of heating and sterilising equipment, complimentary baby food and a comfortable space for breast feeding.

The Baby show was a brilliant event. I learned a lot and there is a lot to do. It takes a full day to go around all of the stands and listen to the talks. There is also an option for networking and a complimentary crèche so you can take a look around without your little ones. The Baby Show will be in Birmingham in May next, then Olympia in London in October, followed by ExCel again next February. Catch it if you can.

Meet You At The Pug And Puffin In Lyme Regis By Wendy Breckon

Meet You At The Pug And Puffin In Lyme Regis By Wendy Breckon1No, not for your favourite tipple, but for a much better treat: when you have skipped on the sand, dipped a toe in the water and chased the seagull that stole your pasty why not … take a stroll up Broad Street to Pug and Puffin. If you are a dog lover, or a dog lover’s friend like me, this is one place that warms the cockles. It is vibrant and imaginative. We‘re talking funky and fun. The doors opened on March 28th, almost a year ago and the shop remains very popular. I don’t own a canine friend, but here is a unique place where dogs can be spoilt and owners stuck for choice. The thoughtful family have placed a water bowl outside too for thirsty pets.
Meet You At The Pug And Puffin In Lyme Regis By Wendy Breckon2Martin Luscombe, (Lyme Regis born), Janet his wife, and Jenny their daughter have combined their artistic talents brilliantly. Naturally, all three love dogs and have owned many breeds, shapes and sizes over the years. This became the inspiration for a delightful shop. Noah, their three and a half year old Pug, is of course reflected in the eye catching sign outside.
Meet You At The Pug And Puffin In Lyme Regis By Wendy Breckon3What can I say about Noah? Cuddly, cute, good natured and with such a handsome face. He looks quite at home relaxing in a dog basket wearing a trendy bandana. Adorable.
Meet You At The Pug And Puffin In Lyme Regis By Wendy Breckon4Lyme Regis is one of those dog friendly, seaside places. The Luscombe’s intention was to reflect this. Inside, there are so many quirky and unusual gifts. What do you choose for that very special pooch in your life? Martin, a self taught artist and his daughter Jenny are the painters and designers behind the products. Janet is the creative needle woman making doggy bandanas, snazzy bags, purses, and vibrant collars.
Meet You At The Pug And Puffin In Lyme Regis By Wendy Breckon5Incredible talent. Oh … and how about a colourful dicky bow for the dog and that very special occasion. The perfect, original present for a friend or a neighbour’s pet. Even your own.
Meet You At The Pug And Puffin In Lyme Regis By Wendy Breckon6Apart from a wide selection of accessories peeping out from shelves, or on papier mache models of dogs, (my most coveted items), there are many other best sellers.
Meet You At The Pug And Puffin In Lyme Regis By Wendy Breckon7Small wooden signs with ‘Lyme Regis’ emblazoned on them are extremely popular with holiday makers or passersby. There is a superb array of colourful doggy cards, (I love the alphabet ones too), and if you need a clock or a new mug, you won’t be disappointed.
So, if the sun is replaced by a sudden shower, and there is no room for two under the umbrella, why not splash out on a ‘pack-a-mac’ for your four legged friend. Don’t forget to pick up, before leaving, a plaque that says ‘I’D RATHER BE WALKING MY PUG’. (Other breeds available of course).

Meet You At The Pug And Puffin In Lyme Regis By Wendy Breckon8

Enjoy your visit. Stay a while. Pug and Puffin is a charming, friendly shop. A visual delight. You won’t leave empty handed … and your dog will be eternally grateful.

On Saturday evening, Jennifer Klein launched her debut ‘Diamonds are Forever’ 2015 collection at the Meursault, Kensington, a heady mix of the finest jewellery on a catwalk presentation produced by Oliver Morris and played out to a huddle of well-heeled, glossy VIP guests who were treated to drinks and canapés whilst deliberating on their purchases, direct from the catwalk.  Alex B, a vision of elegance, compered the evening, taking the audience through the collection at an absorbable pace.

Jennifer’s use of fashion colours rather than traditional hues make this exclusive collection as appealing as a sweet shop – fashion accessories to be indulged in.

This is great news for the woman who loves to wear real jewellery.  The last few years the girlie, quasi-Bohemian aesthetic has been fun but it didn’t give us the opportunity to dazzle – real gemstones instead of paste is what suits fashion’s money-conscious new mood … and Jennifer Klein is running with it.

Aimed at a design-conscious clientele, far from the hushed, carpeted atmosphere of the old-fashioned jeweller as you can imagine, Jennifer’s collection is giving real jewellery a modish twist, it’s as though all the sugariness of the past few years has unleashed in each of us the deep desire to behave like a woman of the world, instead of a slip of a girl.

Jennifer Klein has rationalised the reinstatement of the pearl necklace, considering all the baggage it once carried with it of dowager duchesses, maiden aunts and women who wear taffeta gowns to the opera.  The return to real jewellery is about being grown-up, chic, womanly.  It’s a step up in sophistication and it’s a step up in significance because a necklace intricately defined with real stones is, by definition, less throwaway than, say, a £5 bead choker from Top Shop.

Real gems are now being worn by a younger generation of women, no longer saved for special occasions, but worn with the season’s wardrobe – just as all  those rules about only wearing sequins in the evening dissolved in a flurry of spangled T-shirts, the idea of what jewellery you can wear and when is changing.

The catwalk featured black leather and silk necklaces, 4 stone detail embellishments incorporating Tibetan turquoise, quartz druzy, white agate and amethyst, Swarovski crystals and 18 carat gold plate, double freshwater pearl

and black druzy.  Cuffs adorned with semi-precious bi-colour gemstones surrounded by tumbled ametrine and crystal on genuine snakeskin bands… each piece, due to their inherent characteristics, unique and unmatched.

Each beautiful adornment is sensibly priced, earrings are approximately £150 per pair, necklaces, approximately £380 and cuffs around £175.

A Latin-themed dance show inspired by the sophistication of Jennifer Klein’s luxury jewellery debut collection was presented by international championship dancers, Florent and Diana – superior dancing from a couple who are taking London Fashion Week 2015 by storm,  leaving the audience spellbound after a breath-taking performance.
