Celebrities don’t cut it with children.

In a world seemingly obsessed with celebrity, it is heartening to know that celebrities don’t cut it with children.

Celebrities aren’t that important to children after all according to research out today, despite the panic over the burgeoning celebrity culture.

When school children were asked to pick the most important people in Britain, celebrities ranked significantly lower than royals and politicians, with showbiz mogul Simon Cowell getting less than half as many votes as David Cameron (20 per cent versus 45 per cent).

The research among 650 UK school children, conducted for Galt Toys by leading child research experts ChildWise, showed Ant and Dec were important to only 21 percent of children and chart topper Harry Styles just 13 per cent. Daniel Radcliffe has lost his magic, only receiving 8 per cent of votes.

It isn’t great news for David Beckham either who ranked lower than Boris Johnson with 13 per cent of the votes versus 14 per cent. Cheryl Cole was important to just 11 per cent of children.

Brit winner Adele gets just 6 per cent of votes and Victoria Beckham trails in last with only 4 per cent.

John McDonnell, Managing Director of Galt Toys commented: “Children aren’t as frivolous as adults fear them to be. Our findings show it’s good news for the Royals in Jubilee year with the Queen topping the importance poll by a significant margin (91 per cent) and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in second and third place.”

The Royal family can’t rest on its laurels though as second in line to the throne Prince Charles lagged behind Prince William and the Prime Minister, coming in fifth place. Prince William got more than double the number of votes as his father (53 per cent versus 25 per cent).

Which of these British people do you think is most important?

Fashion queen Kelly Rowland

Dannii and Cheryl may have left the ‘X Factor’, but the style battle is well and truly still on. New judge Kelly Roland gives N-Dubz’ Tulisa a run for her money in this skin-tight outfit. Let’s just hope she can move enough to make it to the auditions!

Fergie says Cheryl felt obliged to divorce Ashley

Cheryl Cole felt she “had no choice” but to divorce Ashley Cole.

The ‘Parachute’ hitmaker is believed to have reunited with her ex-husband – who she split from in May 2010 following reports of numerous infidelities – and while her friend Fergie admits she never expected them to reunite, she is encouraging the singer to “go for it” and give the soccer player a second chance.

The Black Eyed Peas star said: “Ashley really hurt her and I couldn’t see her at the time ever taking him back. But she needs to follow her own heart.

“It’s easy for people to say she’s crazy taking him back, but life isn’t as simple as that. If the love is still there and she truly believes he’s changed then she should go for it if that’s what she wants.

“It doesn’t matter what family, friends or her management team say, it’s her life and her decision. She really loved him and didn’t want to get divorced, she just felt she had no choice.”

According to Fergie – who met Cheryl through bandmate will.i.am two years ago – the British pop beauty will want to take control of her relationship and won’t accept any bad behaviour from Ashley.

She added to Closer magazine: “The next chance will be Ashley’s last chance, there’s no doubt about that.

“Cheryl’s a lot stronger than she was two years ago. The relationship will be on her terms. It will be her who wears the trousers this time, and he won’t be able to put a foot wrong.”

The ‘I Gotta Feeling’ hitmaker also thinks Cheryl will want to start a family with Ashley sooner rather than later.

She added: “She’s a very traditional girl at heart, and wants kids and to grow old with somebody. She is really strong now and if she decided to give him another chance, he’s going to have to be the perfect husband because she wants to be the perfect wife and mother.”

Cheryl Cole celebrates 28th birthday

Cheryl Cole celebrated her 28th birthday at London’s Sanderson Hotel last night.

The former ‘X Factor’ star partied with friends including Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am, Cheryl is trying to get over her shock sacking from the US version of the show.

A friend told The Sun newspaper: ‘Her moping about ‘The X Factor’ is over. She’s determined to jumpstart her career. She still has America in her sights.’

Cheryl wore Stella McCartney white dress for the occasion.

Ex-husband Ashley did not make an appearance despite rumour’s the couple are back together.

Cheryl has only been seen in public twice since she was replaced by Nicole Scherzinger on ‘The X Factor’, the other time at the US embassy in London earlier this week – she wanted to let her fans know she was doing fine.

She wrote on her website: ‘I have had the time that I have not had in so long to just chill with my loved ones and do the normal things that I like to do. See my friends and family and be with my doggys. It feels long overdue and sooooo good, even my feet are happy to not have to wear a pair of high heels hehe.

‘It also breaks my heart a little when i hear that some of you worry about me and need to know that I am ok, so I want to PROMISE you that I am absolutely fine and more than OK! (sic)’

Brigitte Bardot Voted Most Stylish Woman Ever

– ALMOST A THIRD OF BRITS VOTED BRIGITTE BARDOT MOST STYLISH WOMAN OF ALL TIME – BEATING VICTORIA BECKHAM & CHERYL COLE TO TOP SPOT
– 62% POLLED ADMIT FRENCH WOMEN ARE MOST STYLISH OF ALL TIME
– PARIS VOTED WORLD’S MOST STYLISH CITY, CLOSELY FOLLOWED BY MILAN

French actress Brigitte Bardot has been voted the most stylish woman of all time in a new UK-wide poll.

The 1960’s film star outscored a bevy of beauties, including a number of dazzling British female style icons, to land the crown as the world’s most stylish woman.

She polled almost three out of every 10 votes cast (29.5%) in the nationwide poll of 3,000 Brits across the UK by iconic orange soft drink Orangina.

Legendary English rose and Hollywood icon, Elizabeth Taylor, who sadly died this year, came a very close second, with just a few percentage points between her and Bardot.

Bardot, the former fashion model, actress and singer, is now aged 76 and is a world-renowned animal rights activist. But in her 1960’s heyday she was lauded across the world as the epitome of glamorous French style, with her dress sense and iconic hairstyle copied in shops, fashion houses and hair salons in across the globe.

The poll results also illustrate that the English can’t help but admire the French for their cutting-edge style.

A massive 62% of those polled said that France was quite rightly renowned as the home of the most stylish women throughout history.

Famous French women such as fashion queen Coco Chanel, actresses such as Juliette Binoche, Catherine Deneuve and Emmanuelle Béart, and former model now president’s wife Carla Bruni, have helped establish French femmes as the leading lights in the global style stakes, according to those polled in the national study.

Paris also won the vote for the world’s most stylish city too, beating Milan into second place, New York into third and London into fourth.

Orangina spokesman, Steven Simpson, said: “The British and the French may have had their differences historically, but it is clear the French sense of style hasn’t been lost on the British.

“Brigitte Bardot is the epitome of classic French styling and despite being out of the limelight for all these years, she is still held up as a style icon.

“She was the pin-up girl for a golden age and has never been forgotten in France and, it seems, in Britain. The fact that she still ranks higher in style terms than some of Britain’s won modern style queens says it all.”

The top ten most stylish women of all time are-

Brigitte Bardot
Elizabeth Taylor
Victoria Beckham
Cheryl Cole
Joan Collins
Audrey Hepburn
Grace Kelly
Sophia Loren
Marilyn Monroe
Princess Diana

Cheryl Cole Told: 'Lose Two Stone' For X Factor.

In the ongoing saga of Cheryl Cole’s firing from the US X Factor, it emerged yesterday that she was told by an unnamed executive at Fox network to lose up to two stone before her debut. The 27-year-old singer quickly enlisted Gwyneth Paltrow’s personal trainer, Tracey Anderson, to get back into shape after a battle with malaria left her with a curvier figure, but found herself out of time, out of favour and heading back to the UK.

To soften the blow of her failed trip, a return to the UK’s show was offered to the troubled star as an olive branch. But it has now been announced that she will not return to the UK X Factor after she became ‘uncontactable’.

X Factor judge, Amanda Holden, said that Cheryl will regret it if she doesn’t return. She told Radio 2: ‘There is dark talk of Cheryl snubbing a return to British X Factor. Please do not do this. You will regret it for a long time.”
