5 Fun Life Skills To Improve Your Life

5 fun life skills to improve your lifeIt probably is possible to go through life without developing any life skills at all. But would it be easier? I think not. With that in mind here is a fun little list of 5 fun life skills to improve your life. Add your own below.

Cooking

By the time you get out of your teens you should be able to whip up one amazing dish. By the time you hit thirty, you should have at least five amazing dishes that you can easily make that people compliment you on. This should be made without stress and fuss.

Driving

Driving is an unparallelled life skill. Running a car may be expensive but freedom costs money. Nothing beats being able to get into a car and go anywhere you want. It is debatable whether or not you are truly grown up until you can drive.

Dancing

Being able to dance is definitely a strength in life. So many social occasions call for it. If you don’t have natural rhythm then just take some classes and know your way around a fox trot. It will make you much more appealing to the opposite sex and people will think you are talented and sophisticated.

Games

Any party will probably include games, and dinner parties generally include post games fun. For something more entertaining than your average board game, and most things are, getting in touch with your gambling skills for an occasional flutter is fun. I am not talking about online gambling, but poker with friends is always lots of fun and very interactive. Brush up your card skills and bleed them dry.

Sport

No, not watching. Unless the sound is off and it is just for some eye candy. Learning a sport is an invaluable skill to improve your life. It will keep you fit, help you meet new people and maybe even get some fresh air. Take a class, do Zumba, running, football, yoga, anything you want. It will be another skill that will improve your life. I recently did Anti-Gravity Yoga which was different and lots of fun.

What do you think? What other fun life skills are there?

My favourite place to play bingo

Chit Chat Bingo is a site I was recommended to try by a friend. Knowing my love of the community aspect of bingo sites, she thought it would be up my street. I first went on to have a look and really liked the layout, colour scheme and how easy it is to navigate. These things may not sound important but it’s definitely something to consider when you’re selecting a site you’re going to be spending any amount of time on.

I’ve been playing online bingo for years, along with my husband, and we always like to try out different sites, although generally end up sticking to the same few. Chit Chat has definitely made it onto our favourites list, thanks to its overall user friendly layout and great games. After all, that’s what it’s mostly about. When you play bingo online, some sites can become repetitive or not offer enough choice. Chit Chat has something for everyone, no matter what kind of player they are.

It’s especially good if you like chatting to people – as the name suggests it’s primarily set up as a really sociable and friendly bingo site, which is exactly the kind of thing I like. Of course, there are also some great jackpots to win. The community in the forums share loads of helpful info like bonus codes and offers but more than that, you can have a really good chat and you’re welcomed straight away.

If you’re completely new to online bingo then it’s also a great site to start with. They have a social page which has a full dictionary of ‘bingo lingo’ that’ll help you become part of the community in no time! And it helps to make playing much more fun from the start.

There are also free games to play in the chat rooms all through the day with free bonuses that you can win up to a total of £5 each day. There is also a £20 no deposit bonus if you’re just signing up so there really is nothing to lose.

I think Chit Chat Bingo really stands out from the many bingo sites out there, partly because of its design. I like to feel comfortable and welcomed and I also like to be able to find my way around easily and enjoy the design and colour scheme – this is important when you spend as much time playing online bingo as I do!

There are 75 and 95 ball rooms as well as loads of great flash games to try, and of course there are some big bonuses, which you will most definitely want to try and win. Games are priced from 5p a ticket depending on the size of the cash prize on offer.

The pre purchase bingo rooms are the place to head if you want a bigger chance of winning the huge cash prizes and every Thursday there’s the chance to win a £5,000 jackpot in the bingo cafe. On other days there’s the chance to win a smaller but definitely still a decent amount of cash with a £1,000 jackpot.

Overall it’s a site that is worth checking out and if you like a chat, you’ll probably be like me and make it your favourite bingo site of all!

Testing the Playstation 4

Recently Frost was lucky enough to attend an event held by Argos showing off some of the top gifts for this Christmas. Among them was the much anticipated Playstation 4 which we were lucky enough to try. Unfortunately there were no games available but there was a demo showing off some of the potential of the machine.

In the demo I’m shown I sit down to see myself on the screen in front of me! The playstation camera which also acts as a motion sensing device beams me onto the screen but there’s also a floating robot head sitting next to me. What’s really clever is how the motion sensing device picks up your depth of field. I can interact with my robot friend my tickling him for example.

The demo also shows off the new controller’s capacitiative pad. By flicking the pad i can bring out more interactive robot heads and do a whole load of different things. I can even hoover them up and make them laugh.
Games are getting more real as the capabilities of the hardware grows. I was also lucky enough to try Oculus Rift recently which really blew my mind but that’s another story. It’s undoubtedly an exciting time ahead. It was very absorbing and a little overwhelming at first. I totally lost myself in it and in my excitement I smashed the glass of orange juice sitting next to me! My bubble was broken and I returned to the real world. It was clear to see this is a very powerful piece of hardware and I can’t wait to see what software designers are going to do with it but there is definitely tremendous potential.

Look out for the PS4 at Christmas from £349 $399

Xbox 720 finally unveiled as Xbox One

It really was an incredible moment even for a PS fanboy such as myself to witness the online launch of the eagerly-awaited Xbox One just a mere hour ago.

“It’s time for technology to step behind the curtain,” said Don Mattrick, President of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft as he stepped aside to announce Xbox One – “All your entertainment – in one!”

This is the power of Microsoft’s well-oiled publicity machine. Unlike the PS4 launch earlier this year, Xbox One’s architecture was there for all to behold – a glossy, fantastic looking machine with a new pad. And again, unlike the PS4 launch, this one ran to time and wasn’t overplayed. This time, the launch of the Xbox One was clearly designed to set the stage and tell the tale of the next generation of console warfare.

To be completely honest, the stats kept coming – the console boasts an eight-core CPU, next generation USB 3.0, WiFi direct, a Blu-ray drive for the first time, 500GB HDD, HDMI input and output, and 802.11n wireless. If you didn’t get all that, It’s good – trust me.

Xbox Live is also getting a major update, with 300,000 servers backing up the service. “Your content is available and it’s stored in the cloud,” Microsoft’s Marc Whitten said. “That includes a DVR-like service for capturing game developers, and offloading processing”.

In terms of features, full voice-activated control was shown through the Kinect which is now embedded as part of the system. And, we’re told, not only would voice activation control games, but the TV and Skype functions tool. There was instant switching from the Xbox One dashboard to live television and back again with admittedly impressive speeds. They also demonstrated gesture controls for the console’s UI, quickly snapping back to the dashboard with a pinch command.

However, it was the games that were perhaps the most shocking. It seems as if Microsoft has lined up a number of developers tol produce exclusive content for the Xbox One. First up, EA Games with the usual Madden and UFC titles powered by EA Sports Ignite – a brand new engine build for the next generation hardware. Then they drop the bombshell – Fifa 13 will be exclusively for Xbox One.

While the room recovered, the usual demos followed along with talk of a Halo television series on Xbox TV, directed by none other than Spielberg. However, the biggest bang was the trailer for new Call of Duty: Ghosts. The graphics were better than imagined, with the new engine producing more detail, dynamic shadows and so much more. We are promised dynamic multiplayer maps, earthquakes and trapdoors will change the environment and even little things like better smoke and AI for fish as you swim past them. But, the big issue again is that this too is an Xbox One exclusive title. I can’t imagine many PS owners being happy about that.

Of course, the big place to check out all the new releases will be at the E3 which happens 11th-13th June this year. This will be the time when all the new technology will go head to head. It is going to be an incredible ride, so stay tuned to Frost Magazine to stay ahead of the game!

Survival of the fittest: Dirk Nowitzki’s Adaptability

5793624664_55cd9e4c11_o

When Dirk Nowitzki was first drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks as the ninth pick in the 1998 draft, he sported a 7-foot lanky frame with quite a reach and a long wingspan to prevent perimeter defenders from swatting the ball. He was immediately traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he was labelled as soft and delicate. You see, the German cager was not an immediate powerhouse. With his thin physique, he relied on spot up jumpers and chances from beyond the arc. Nobody expected the future star to provide an impact early on. And surely, during his career, Nowitzki shot a few air balls and had plenty of rookie mistakes, but that did not stop the Maverick forward to improve and expand his style of play.

Sharp shooting days
With the height that he possessed, the Wurzburg-born Maverick was a nightmare for his shorter defenders. Although quicker than most players in his position, the young Nowitzki was easily manhandled and out-powered in the low post. His slashing skills were still undeveloped. He cannot be trusted as the main go-to guy to handle the ball in the post or while driving to the rim. With a thin frame, the ball is easily swiped off by tinier and quicker defenders. Instead of being discouraged, the 7 footer developed his signature one-legged fade away, which up to this day is almost impossible to defend. It’s a good thing that he was teamed up with Steve Nash in his early years.

Sharp shooting plus rim slashing
As Dirk aged and developed by the entire cast of the Mavericks, the German expanded his style of play to make defenders second-guess his offensive tactics. In fact, the German PF notched his first NBA Championship in 2011 and earned his MVP Finals title too. He combined aggressiveness in the post while combining a finesse in a finger roll finish to his arsenal. It’s a good thing that he had Shawn Marion and Tyson Chandler to lighten the defensive and rebounding load. Unluckily, the Mavericks failed to go for a back-to-back and even failed to enter the 2013 playoffs. They could go early with their summer workouts or Marion, who is known as a poker lover, may want to host a friendly game of cards. Luckily, Nowitzki can participate anytime with the availability of online sites like PartyPoker Deutsch. It’s also a good way to improve rapport and focus. Just like basketball, there are basic skills in poker that are needed in order for the player to survive and even win the table. Focus, for one, allows a player to concentrate on his cards and the community cards as well even with the distractions of other players such as facial expressions and blatant bluffing methods. Also, poker players need to be snappy with their decisions, making a split-second move without compromising his play. Finally, playing poker is a good way to create a healthy camaraderie between you and other players even if there are real stakes involved. However, chemistry is always the key—and poker might just be the formula—come another 82 games next season.
