Pura Baby Wipes and Nappy Review

There is a lot of guilt when it comes to parenting but thankfully, I can stop worrying about baby wipes thanks to Pura. They also do eco nappies. Yes and yes! We reviewed them both so read on.

pura baby wipes and nappies.

Pura make the most environmentally-friendly nappy possible, without compromising on nappy performance. I love the feel of the nappies and they do not have that chemical smell a lot of brands do. They do not leak and look comfortable (if only babies could talk). I was impressed with the nappies in all areas: look, feel and performance. Pura nappies contain no nasty chemicals, perfumes or allergens.  The materials they are made from include soft sustainable organic cotton for baby’s comfort and a super absorbent core made with certified natural plant fibres.

This is what Pura say: “Our nappies are created with 100% green electricity and no production waste, and our super absorbent core is made with certified natural plant fibres. Wrapped in recyclable packaging, our nappies have been awarded the coveted EU Ecolabel.

Every day, in the UK, 8 million disposable nappies are thrown away. Going the extra (greener) mile, we’re working with the UK’s only nappy recycling company NappiCycle to keep these nappies out of landfill and repurpose the material for use in affordable housing and in notice boards for nurseries, schools and businesses. So, relax and use these nappies knowing you’re striking the best possible balance between a happy planet and a happy baby.

As for the perfect nappy? We’re working on it.”

Pura baby wipes have changed my life. I can now wipe bottoms, or anything else, without plastic and guilt. They do not smell and they can even be flushed down the loo. Pura baby wipes are 100% plastic-free, 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable, made from sustainable plant fibres
· Each Pura wipe contains 99% water and organic aloe vera and no perfume, alcohol or chlorine
· Pura baby wipes are available in flushable, with the Fine to Flush accreditation, and non-flushable options. The baby wipes are suitable for sensitive and eczema-prone skin, certified vegan and are accredited by the British Skin Foundation, Allergy UK, the FSC and the Soil Association
· Pura is the most accredited baby care brand on the market, with a unique, simple labelling system listing the product’s eco-credentials for parents
· The first baby wipes in the UK with a Fine to Flush stamp of approval, and an ambition to be the first Carbon Neutral baby care brand
· The only baby brand to be teaming up with the Woodland Trust to help support the sustainability of the UK’s natural environment
· Pura’s baby wipes are approved by midwives and are dermatologically and clinically tested

We at Frost applaud this and cannot recommend them enough. Frost loves.

Real Easy Wonderoos Reusable Nappy Review

Real Easy - the washable nappy manufactured by Wonderoos

The words ‘reusable nappy’ can strike fear into a parents heart. We know it is better for the environment and the purse but in a sleep-deprived zombie state we tend to go for the easy option. That is until you try one and it isn’t as hard as you think. Especially with Real Easy – the washable nappy manufactured by Wonderoos. The all-in-one, one-size pocket nappy comes with lots of buttons to make sure it fits your baby well, the design is beautiful and gender neutral. The nappy even feels great. It feels silky-soft on the outside and the inserts also feel nice and are comfortable for baby. The soft micro fleece lining keeps baby feeling comfy and dry, while the thirsty soakers take care of the wetness.

Each Wonderoos V3 Pocket Nappy is the equivalent to approximately 300 disposable nappies. One size fits 8-35lbs. You just adjust to fit from birth to potty. They even have unique girl/boy settings on inserts. The nappy is a little bulky so not all clothes will look streamlined on baby. However we can honestly say that we love this nappy. Great for baby, great for the environment and it saves money. What more could you want? This nappy has won many awards and rightly so. Very impressive. Frost loves.  Wonderoos One-Size Pocket Nappy can be bought here.

reusablenappyreviewReal Easy – the washable nappy manufactured by Wonderoos  – has won the coveted Consumer Choice Award in the Best Baby & Toddler Gear Awards 2015 in the reusable nappy category.

The price of nappies can be shocking.

Save money in nappies: Nappy comparison site bumdeal.co.uk shows how Kate & Will (and everyone else) can save up to £500 over the first two years of nappy buying!

Shopping around and comparing the price of nappies can save parents a shed load of cash – even the Royals! Across the first two years of a baby’s life, it is estimated that you will use over 4,000 nappies. As some retailers can charge more than double the cheapest price for nappies it is wise to shop around.

The table below shows a breakdown of the cost of nappies across an average first 24 months:

Nappy  Cheapest Price Most Expensive Nappies per Day Months Total nappies Min Cost Max Cost Difference
Size 1Pampers New Baby 9p/nappyAmazon family 17p/nappyOcado 10 2 600 £54 £102 £48
Size 2Pampers New Baby 11p/nappyTesco 19p/nappyBoots 8 2 480 £52.80 £91.20 £38.40
Size 3Pampers Baby Dry 9p/nappyAmazon family 20p/nappyTesco 6 4 720 £64.80 £144 £79.20
Size 4Pampers Baby Dry 10p/nappyAmazon family 24p/nappyOcado 5 16 2,400 £240 £576 £336
    Totals: 4,140 £411.60 £913.20 £501.60

If you bought all of the most expensive nappies, you would spend over £900 across the two years. If you were savvy and bought from the cheapest retailer, you’d spend just shy of £400 – an incredible saving of over £500.

Some of the cheapest prices are via Amazon’s membership programme known as Amazon family. This offers a 20% discount off various nappies when you sign up to its subscribe and save service. A free 30 day trial is available which can be cancelled at any time.

For completeness, excluding the Amazon family programme the total cost of nappies rises by £37.20, but still gives savings of over £460 over the two year period.

BumDeal founder Adam Cable, says “Nappies are amongst the largest expenditure young families face. You can save by shopping around, but it’s not easy to take into consideration all the special offers and promotions. Luckily BumDeal takes away the time-consuming task of finding the best deal and provides results in a clear way. Plus, those with a smartphone can access the comparison on the go, which is great for when you’re already inside a supermarket.”
