La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo [+] & La Roche-Posay Effaclar BB Blur Review

I have used La Roche Posay products for years. I love how good their products are for sensitive skin. I reviewed two of their Effaclar products that promise to ace your base and leave you with photo ready skin.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo [+] (£15.50) is both intensely hydrating and soothing. It is also lightweight, sinking into the skin as if it was never there. My skin really loved this. It has perfect texture and really does the job. It is also a brilliant base for make-up.

The non-sticky, melt-in formula is clinically proven to correct the appearance of blemishes, while unclogging blocked pores, controlling shine and refining the skin’s texture. Most importantly, the award-winning formula accelerates the skin’s repair process and contains anti-inflammatory Niacinamide to intensely soothe, while LHA and Salicylic Acid work to gently exfoliate the skins’ surface for a smooth, blemish-free finish.

I love BB creams. I fell out of love with heavy foundation years ago. Some BB cream on areas of concern is all most women need. This is a great mousse formula that sinks into skin and feels great going on. It doesn’t sit on the skin but leaves it shine-free and looking good. This has now replaced my usual BB cream. It feels so velvety and smooth and it leave my skin looking refreshed.

Even out skin tone and blur the appearance of pores, blemishes and fine lines with La Roche-Posay Effaclar BB Blur (£16.50). This new generation skincare hybrid absorbs oil for a flawless complexion. Specifically tailored for oily skin, BB Blur provides day-long control of
shine with Aircilium, a cutting-edge ingredient that is 3 times its weight in oil, keeping the skin matte and unified with a velvet finish.Furthermore, added ingredient Perlite, which is composed of silica is 5 times more powerful than talc and protects against humidity with its continuous blotting paper effect.

All products are suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

Claudia Fallah Beauty Products Review Daily Protection Moisturiser & Ultra Nourishing Moisturiser

claudiafallahreview, claudia fallah reviewI am always interested in trying a new beauty product so I jumped at the chance to try some products from Claudia Fallah. She had 30 years experience as a skincare specialist and now has her own product range out. I tried the Daily Protection Moisturiser and the Ultra Nourishing Moisturiser. Both are formulated for sensitive skin. Here is a bit about Claudia Fallah

“The London based leader in corrective and preventative skincare, Claudia Fallah created gentle and potent cosmeceutical formulations using her bio-dynamic approach of using what nature supplies, which filled the gap between the beauty counter and invasive treatments.

Proudly Made in London and independently owned and financed, CLAUDIA FALLAH is now a UK phenomenon, stocked in prestige clinics, exclusive day spas, and high quality pharmacies.

Entering the cosmeceuticals world on an international scale has meant Claudia Fallah has had to create genius in order to stand out. CLAUDIA FALLAH best selling rejuvenating, hydrating and anti-ageing serum ‘Energizing Beauty Fluid’ is symbolic of this approach, being the first in Europe to use a high percentage of a totally natural ingredient with a very technical sounding name XA-STNO which is sure to become a “cult” beauty must have, due to its amazing effects even on skin suffering from conditions such as rosacea and the fact that it only sourced from an ecologically sustainable renewable source.

Despite a history stretching back over seventeen years, the core message remains unchanged; CLAUDIA FALLAH is committed to achieving clinical results with minimal effort and zero downtime. Integrity and bio-dynamic holistic development sets CLAUDIA FALLAH apart from other brands that merely offer a band-aid rather than a solution for specific skin concerns. To achieve fast effective results CLAUDIA FALLAH use a concentrated and balanced combination of potent cosmeceutical, natural ingredients, which are supported with scientific evidence and efficacy studies.”

Here is what I think of the products.

The Daily Protection Moisturiser has a high UV protection factor. Something that is essential to me. It defends against environmental aggressions known to cause skin colouration and premature ageing. It has vitamin E in it, which is always a good thing. The moisturiser has a tint to it which I love. Sometimes when I put it on it looked chalky initially and did not feel like it was giving my skin enough moisture. But it settles on well and I have been using it all winter. It does not say which- if any- SPF it is, but apart from that I can’t fault it. I do think it has had a good effect on my skin. I would recommend it.

The Ultra Nourishing Moisturiser has a lightness to it and it really sinks into the skin and moisturises. It feels refreshing and makes my skin feel instantly hydrated. It is perfect for sensitive skin as it gave my skin a feeling of calm. Good stuff. I would use it again.

Ruby Red Body Moisturiser Review

We loved this new Soothe and Nourish Hydrating Body Moisturiser from Ruby Red. It absorbed easily and was gentle on those with sensitive skin. We love natural products and this fits the bill. It has six nourishing plant oils including hydrating Babussu oil to lock in moisture all day. It left us silky smooth and moisturised. Good stuff.

Fushi Virgin Marula Oil Review

I fell in love with facial oils last year after being sent some to review. I never thought I would like putting oil on my face; it would be too slick and greasy. But it actually makes a huge difference and is lighter than some moisturisers. Another benefit is that you tend to massage it in rather than just put it on, which also makes a huge difference to skin.

Fushi Virgin Marula Oil

Facial oils tend to be natural too, and Fushi Virgin Marula Oil is so natural that you can actually eat it. Perfect for sensitive skin and for those who are sick of putting chemicals on their face.

Fushi have a large African oil range, all of which are perfect for protecting and reviving skin and hair from the damages caused by the summer sun and the environment.

Fushi Virgin Marula Oil Review

With a higher antioxidant level than Argan oil, Marula Oil works in two ways to help fight the ageing process; protecting the skin against damaging free radicals and also visibly reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Marula oil is often known in Africa as a “miracle oil,” Marula Oil has been revered among African women for hundreds of years for its powerful moisturising and anti-aging benefits. This prized oil is extracted from the fruit kernels of the Marula tree from Kenya. Marula oil deeply nourishes and hydrates the skin and is quite unique due to its super rich content of fatty acids, vitamins C and E. Marula oil is thought to have a richer content of antioxidants than even Argan oil. It is ideal to use to protect the skin from aging, for fine lines and crows feet. A light non greasy oil, Marula oil is absorbed easily and is the perfect anti aging night oil for the face and neck area. It is most effective at protecting the skin from those damaging free radicals that accelerate aging.

It says it is perfect for mature skin types but I am in my twenties and I still love it. I don’t have any wrinkles yet but I have noticed some enlarged pores and a few fine lines forming. After using the marula oil I have noticed a significant difference. Even my fiance remarks that I am ‘glowing’. It is also great for dry skin as it really hydrates.

The smell isn’t great but it is bearable and doesn’t linger for too long and a little of the oil goes a long way. I don’t use this during the day as it leaves the face shiny and I am just not sure it would work but it is my current night oil of choice. I love it and it is organic, cold-pressed and fairtrade. Sigh, I’m in love.

You can buy it from the Fushi site.

Vichy Idealia Smoothing and Illuminating Cream Review

vichy idealia reviewIt is not common for me to be upset when a moisturiser runs out. There is always something else to try. But when my Vichy Idealia Smoothing and Illuminating Cream ran out I felt forlorn. It is just that good.

It smells delicious, which is probably the Kombucha tea extract, the packaging is stylish and the texture of the pink cream is light and not too heavy, but, importantly, it really works. I used this religiously twice a day, except for once or twice when I went to bed late. When I did not use it I could see the difference in my skin. I just looked less fresh, less ‘illuminated’. The overall tone of my skin is greatly improved. It evens skin tone and smooths out wrinkles.

I have sensitive skin and this hypoallergenic cream was gentle with it. It did not irritate it at all. It is also paraben-free. I really love this moisturiser and so did my skin.

Vichy say,

– Enriched with Kombucha 3%, AHAs, Vitamins, Probiotics and Polyphenols
– Skin feels more even, smoother, supple and refined
– The complexion is more radiant
– Skin is replumped with moisture
– Skin looks more youthful, fresher and healthier

vichy ingredients

It is quite pricey at £22 but I think it is definitely worth the money and a little goes a long way. It is like youth in a pot.

Available from Superdrug or Selfridges.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Review | Beauty

What the cream looks like when it is finished.

What the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra looks like when it is finished.

Anyone who has read a few of my beauty reviews will know that my skin can be sensitive. So I was excited to try this calming cream. Toleriane Ultra is for allergic, sensitive or intolerant skin.

While using it my skin did not have any redness. It calmed it down. It smelled pleasant, really moisturised my skin and was not greasy. It did not just sit on my skin. It was hydrating and did not make my skin break out. The consistency is not too heavy but still has lots of goodness. It is not thinned down.

I love the bottle. As you use it you the clear bag of cream inside of the bottle gets smaller and smaller, like a vacuum bag. This stops bacteria getting in but is also really cool and hygienic. You can also be sure you won’t waste any and you will know exactly how much you have.

I would definitely buy this cream. Prices for it seem to start at £11 but it lasts quite a while and I think it is worth it.

What they say:

It’s formula is a true formulatory feat: ultra-minimalist, uncompromising and highly safe. A formula stripped down to the essential, using minimal ingredients and removing all potentially irritant or allergy-inducing substances. An ultra-minimalist formula with intense soothing power, thanks to Neurosensine, an active ingredient which targets cutaneous irritation mechanisms. A soothing action, reinforced thanks to the new association with naturally soothing and anti-irritating La Roche-Posay thermal spring water. Non-comedogenic. Ultra high tolerance. Tested on allergic skin.
PRESERVATIVE-FREE – PARABEN-FREE – FRAGANCE-FREE – ALCOHOL-FREE – COLORANT-FREE – LANOLIN-FREE.

Available from Boots, Superdrug or Amazon UK.

Vichy and La Roche-Posay Skincare

In late October I went to check out skincare by Vichy and La Roche-Posay at B.Hive in Covent Garden. I have always been a fan of Vichy but this was my first experience of La Roche-Posay.

Vichy started in 1931 with the birth in France of Vichy Dermatological Health Society.

When we arrived we were offered some prosecco and some canapes. The lovely Julia greeted us and talked us through the range. I was hugely impressed by Julia. Not only is she a great advert for the brand as she has the most amazing skin, but she also knows everything there is to know about Vichy and La Roche-Posay.

Vichy and La Roche-Posay has a product for every type of skin. I was impressed at the size of the range. There is also a good amount of products for sensitive skin like mine.

In the coming month I will be reviewing Vichy Idealia, La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra, Vichy Normaderm Total Mat and La Roche-Posay Anthelios AC Matt Extreme Fluid SPF 30. So watch this space.
