Pale Green Dot Fruit & Veg Box Review | Win A Fantastic Food Box

pale green dot, fruit and veg box, fruit, veg, vegetables, box, food, London, We reviewed a fruit and veg box from Pale Green Dot and we loved it so much that we are now running a competition for one lucky reader to win one of their own. All you have do is follow us on Twitter and then tweet at us, or follow us on Facebook and leave a message to let you know you have entered the competition. The closing date is the end of June and you have to live in London, Surrey, Sussex or Kent.

The fruit and veg box is definitely the best fruit and veg box I have tried. The spring onion is sublime: so unlike the ones you get in a supermarket. It has lettuce still attached to its roots and Sussex chard. The tomatoes are ripe and juicy. It even has asparagus and delicious aubergine. The box is filled to the brim with healthy deliciousness. We love. Pale Green Dot have more food boxes now including a BBQ one. Have a look below.

Langshott Manor Review | Travel

After our recent marriage my new husband and I spent a wonderful bank holiday weekend at Langshott Manor which we booked via http://secretescapes.com. It was a truly wonderful 16th-century Elizabethan manor house in Surrey. We got a good rate and it included breakfast and a five-course tasting menu.

This is what http://secretescapes.com said:

A 16th-century Elizabethan manor house, complete with red brick walls, casement windows and an ancient moat, Langshott Manor is a real boutique gem. Set within three acres of secret garden near Horley in the heart of sleepy Surrey, you’re just an hour’s drive from the Big Smoke. Slip on your Hunter wellies and get ready for a decidedly stylish country retreat.

The refurbished Mulberry Restaurant is full of nooks and crannies to hide away in. Packed with original features, it has a cosy fireplace and views out across the pristine gardens. The menu is both refined and hearty, with plenty of home-grown produce and local ingredients.

Good to know

Please note that check-in is at 4pm ad check-out is at 11am.

The restaurant’s dress code is smart-casual, which excludes trainers, sportswear and ripped denim.

We like

  • The quirky original features in this grand 16th century Elizabethan manor house
  • The re-invented Mulberry Restaurant where you can have fabulous gourmet dishes and afternoon tea
  • Walking through the grounds to discover the ancient moat and beyond, tranquil countryside

We were very impressed with the food, the service and our room. The grounds were beautiful and relaxing. Ducks played in a pond and even came right up to the restaurant. They were completely adorable. Our room had a four poster bed, a hall and a beautiful bathroom. The food truly is first-class, as good as anything in the best restaurants in London.

We had a wonderful time. Upon checking out we noticed the service charges were quite a lot but, to be fair, the service is impeccable. The papers are not free and will be added to your bill. The nearest train station is Horley. You could take a taxi to the manor house and it won’t cost much. It is also possible to walk as long as you have a good sense of direction or GPS on your phone.

Busaba Eathai Kingston Riverside Is Now Open

New dishes recently trialed at the Busaba Eathai Songkran pop-up at Fairground, Haggerston, feature on the menu at the new Kingston restaurant, such as Isaan grilled pork and a selection of summer salads, all inspired by the executive chef Jude Sangsida’s recent trip to Thailand. The new site has 135 covers, including outdoor seating on a 30 cover riverside terrace. The interior is in a familiar Busaba Eathai style, featuring communal teak tables and benches in dark wood. A new lounge bar concept recently launched at the Old Street branch, includes a bar snack menu of small plates and cocktails including Lemongrass and Thai basil Martini and Tamarind Negroni.

Busaba Eathai Kingston Riverside is now open at 4 Riverside Walk, Kingston-upon-Thames, KT1 1QN.

Wildeflower – Good Girl | Music Review

Surrey folksters Wildeflower‘s new single is another gem from the rather fine Stella Mortos record label. The single is released on 14th May and it is one of the best of 2012 so far. Splendid. The title track sounds like The Great Park having a roll around in the hay with Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, creating a folk sound with something more complicated and swirling over the top. It’s a joy to listen to. The b-side, ‘Amazing Discovery’, is more Beatles-esque. The perfect soundtrack to a summers day.

Wildeflower to release debut single | Music News

Surrey popsters Wildeflower will release their debut single ‘Good Girl’ via Stella Mortos on May 14th. The 6 piece band from Englefield Green, Surrey are led by Max Kinghorn-Mills and marry influences from revival/progressive Nick Drake, Bert Jansch and Fairport Convention with the modern, swirling patterns of Caribou and Four Tet.

As introductions go, ‘Good Girl’ is richly evocative, showcasing the group’s sound: spring-reverb, warm piano flourishes and flickering percussion. Amazing Discovery’ saunters down a well-trodden pastoral path into a leafy mantra: ‘Sound surround the earth and help me wonder’.

Recording took place last summer in bedrooms and the Beaconsfield countryside with Chris Smith (Fractal Skulls). Max explains further,  “I wanted to keep these recordings organic, avoid cold production; so we recorded some parts outside in the fields.” Max put the video together with clips he’d filmed during the recordings with friends.
