Zuzka … Capturing The Power Of Nature

Zuzka front coverZuzka logo

With time being today’s luxury, finding cosmetics and treatments that make the most of our time-consuming beauty maintenance is a constant struggle.
I’ve been using three products from the Zuzka ‘Botanicals’ range for the last few weeks, a brand founded by Susan Kohutova, a qualified beauty specialist and registered medical herbalist, with over 20 years experience as a consultant and therapist for some of the top cosmetic companies. Susan suffered herself with an extremely sensitive and allergy-prone skin and realised there was a great need for a product range free from the main skin irritants that cause such distress for certain skins when used on a daily basis. In order to develop her own formulas, Susan studied Medical Herbalism and discovered the incredible healing powers of herbs, plants and flowers, utilising these precious natural ingredients to their best potential. The brand name ‘Zuzka’ is Slovakian for ‘Susan’, inspired by her Slovakian husband.
The packaging is functional, practical and purist, aimed at the modern woman whose intelligence is reflected as much in her health and beauty care as it is in her career choices. The results on my skin were visible and tangible, I could apply my make-up more easily and my skin stayed fresh and supple during the day.
Zuzka makes caring for your skin a pleasurable experience by providing the highest quality therapeutic products with fresh natural aromas that produce beneficial, satisfying results at a very competitive price.
Without the obligatory harsh fragrances associated with so many beauty products on the market at the moment, but simple, light scents, the plant extracts act deep-down, improving skin action to improve tone and texture with a bare-feel sensation.

Rose Petal Facial Spritz – £18.99 – 150ml

The beautiful aromatic rejuvenating waters of rose petal, witch-hazel and frankincense, sooth and refresh the skin, closing open pores.

Organic rosehip oil for mature skin – £18.99 – 30ml

A luxurious, soothing, rejuvenating, collagen-boosting precious oil for mature skin, containing organic oils of rosehip, calendula, evening primrose, jojoba and the ultimate cell regenerating ingredient, rose essential oil.

There are five main skincare ranges:
Ocean Spa – toning and detoxifying
Honey Glow – soothing and therapeutic
Derma Care – deep pore treatment

Quick Tips Before You Buy Any Beauty Product

Being a woman, you exactly know what type of product will suit your look. But when a new product arrives in the market or a product that has never been used by you, what should you do?

Beauty review, Glowing skin, good beauty products.

Here are some quick tips to help you buy the right product so that you don’t end up slathering your skin.

  1. Check for the ingredients: If you are allergic to something, you know it better. Check for the ingredients and search online if there are any allergic reactions of the same. For example, if you have dry hair, benzoyl peroxide is not good for you. Benzoyl peroxide causes excessive dryness and should be avoided in that case. On the other hand, it is a great resort for acne. So, check for the ingredients and choose the product accordingly.
  2. Similar products: If you are unable to get the detail of every ingredient, check out for similar products. It can be a life saver.
  3. Online reviews: When a product is launched, people love to post a review about it. Good, bad and ugly; every review is posted. See what you make out of it. Is there someone who shares her story, and you connect with her review? Check what she notes for the noted product.
  4. Importance of Undertones: If you know your skin’s undertones, you can shortlist colors accordingly. For cool undertones, neutral or pink-based foundation is the best. For warm undertones, yellow or peach based foundation will do the trick. So, know your skin tone and shortlist the colors accordingly.
  5. Get the opinion of the stylist: A stylist knows what product will suit your skin. Taking their advice can help you buy the perfect product without harming your skin. So, if you are planning to book an appointment with a stylist, here is a nordstrom coupon code to cut down your costs significantly.
  6. Ask your friends: Having a lot of friends, you are at an advantage. Ask them about the product and they will ask their sources. The chain will be big enough to get you a handful of reviews. This is one of the best sources to get a review about a beauty product.
  7. Physical Stores: If you are visiting a beauty store, use the salesperson’s knowledge to make a better choice. Ask them about the difference between a product you have used and one you have not used. If you are visiting the store without makeup, you can test more products before buying them. Also, there are companies who are happy to send samples on request. So, don’t hesitate to ask them for it. Give it a try. You might walk back with a sample so that you can decide whether the product is worth buying or not.

Concluding, there are a number of beauty products that have never been to your makeup bag. If you are planning to buy them, here is a nordstrom coupon. With this coupon, you can buy more and pay for less.

Think Dirty App Tells You How Toxic Your Cosmetics Are

It is no secret that the bees are dying because of pesticide abuse and that all of the toxic chemicals they put in our toothpaste and make up are affecting our health. The madness of the world is that if we don’t want nasty pesticides on our fruit and veg then we have to pay more for the organic stuff.

thinkdirtyapp

This is why we have a new favourite app: Think Dirty.  This is what they say:

Think Dirty® app is the easiest way to learn about the potentially toxic ingredients in your cosmetics and personal care products. It’s an independent source that allows you to compare products as you shop. Just scan the product barcode and Think Dirty will give you easy-to-understand info on the product, its ingredients, and cleaner options.

This is a free app that will let you know if your products contain potentially toxic chemicals like BHA / BHT, PEGs, formaldehyde releasing agents, siloxanes, sulfates, petrochemicals, parabens, phthalates, fragrance/parfum and non-biodegradable ingredients

We love it and think that you will too. Get the free app on iTunes here.

Déjà Vu Boutique (Ipswich) – Been Here Before? Certainly Worth A Return Visit!

It’s widely understood that fashion is fickle but this little gem in the heart of Ipswich bucks the trend.  Mandy Errington is the creative force behind Déjà Vu, a ‘chic and unique’ shopping experience renowned for being Suffolk’s ‘top-to-toe unique boutique’.

015001

Déjà Vu attracts the right kind of attention, with one-off pre-loved, vintage, exclusive designer and brand new fashion, inspiring every budget and taste.  Offering a bespoke, personal service along with fashion tips and advice, you can treat yourself to a makeover which will guarantee that you leave the boutique looking good and feeling great.

With elegant suiting and sensual fabric, the boutique gives a flavour of empowerment, cleverly thought out space with walls covered in beautiful designs which exude style, an un-intimidating and relaxed atmosphere showcasing simple shapes to exquisite timeless elegance, clothes that won’t date or dictate a period.  Accessories maketh woman, so Déjà Vu guarantee to coordinate heels, bags and baubles to suit your summer wardrobe with soft, feminine details – a bow or a chain trim… Deja Vu redefines mademoiselle chic.

008007

The only dilemma is which items to choose – there’s a bewildering array of perennially stylish couture, handbags that epitomise understated chic, desirable heels and the ultimate in décolletage decoration complete the range of covetable trimmings.  Déjà Vu source individually so there’s less chance of seeing the same outfit duplicated.  Mandy is particularly thrilled at becoming a stockist of Covert Cases, a seriously gorgeous range of funky-coloured iPhone and iPad covers with prices starting at £10.

The boutique has an enviable eco-friendly image, with an energy efficiency rating as high as I’ve ever seen associated with a commercial premise through sensible use of lighting and heating.

I was impressed with the spacious changing room and the fact that if you fall in love with something that isn’t quite the right fit, an adjacent alteration service, Star Alterations, is at hand with quality adjustments to make the fit perfect.

005004

With the help of Mandy at Déjà Vu, you can easily shed 10 years with a wardrobe change but your make-up can easily be a tell-tale giveaway.  Déjà Vu  have recently introduced ‘Zoya’, a vegan-friendly nail polish range, made with no harsh chemicals and available in a choice of luxurious colours and finishes, but was one of the initial ambassadors for a range of make-up by Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, conceived by a professional aesthetician, Pauline Youngblood–Soli.  The range is all about quality, from light-reflective foundations that give the smoothest, sheerest coverage for all skin types and colours to lipsticks and eye-colour which are adaptable for subtle or strong colour-ways.  The products are pure, contain no fragrances, oils or talcs, ideal for post-treatment application, actively helping to soothe and heal the skin.

011012

We’d all like our make-up to look as if our skin had been re-touched, but that doesn’t always mean we’re willing to use invasive products to achieve it.  A signature look is all about detail and Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics epitomises this with their 100% chemical-free skin-transforming make-up, packaging with a reassuringly expensive feel and sleek-mirrored compacts for applying your make-up whenever and wherever.

Mandy chose to create the smoky eye, a catwalk favourite from the last few seasons brought bang up to date with a subtle use of colour rather than black, as Mandy showed when she created my summer-inspired smouldering look.

Mandy Errington is a perfectionist, she’s not happy until you are… in the current environment of high street too-big-to-care brands, she has an ethos all independent boutiques should aspire to.

Research gives heads up on top haircare brands’ use of palm oil (because the rainforest is worth it)

The environment and natural beauty are things that Frost is very passionate about. Protecting our planet should be at the top of every persons agenda and looking good should not harm the planet. In the latest investigation carried out by the Rainforest Foundation UK and Ethical Consumer magazine, over 20 of the UK’s biggest cosmetics and toiletries companies were surveyed about their use of palm oil or its derivatives, a key ingredient in shampoos and conditioners.

The survey – part of RFUK’s ‘Appetite for Destruction?’ consumer guide to palm oil content in products – was carried out in response to the increasing threat that unsustainable palm oil is posing to the world’s rainforests, and consequently, to the people that rely almost entirely on these forests for their livelihoods.

Some of the biggest names in the toiletries industry  including Procter and Gamble and Superdrug as well as ‘ethical’ brands Jason and Avalon, have scored poorly, while the top-scoring companies in the survey include Honesty Cosmetics, Little Satsuma and Pure Nuff Stuff.

Simon Counsell, Executive Director of The Rainforest Foundation UK said:

“Today we call on hair product companies to face up to their environmental responsibilities, reduce their use of palm oil, and help ensure the long-term survival of Africa’s rainforest, its people and unique wildlife.”
