Pure Anada Solid Shampoo Bar – £9.95

What is it that makes a solid shampoo bar different from a homemade bar of soap?

Soap is made from oil or butter and lye, in a process called saponification. This process results in a finished product that is great for cleansing the body, but has much too high a pH for the hair. Pure Anada’s solid shampoo bars, on the other hand, have a lower pH and also contain surfactants, breaking up the trapped dirt and oils on the hair and scalp gently, so they can be washed away with water.

Why is pH important for a shampoo bar formulation?

Our skin has mechanisms that regulate its pH, but hair does not. The surface of healthy skin will eventually return to its natural, slightly acidic pH after washing with soap—even with a higher-pH soap (many of them are between an 8 and a 10.)

Hair on the other hand can’t; it doesn’t heal and balance on its own. For this reason, it’s important to understand that one of the major sources of hair damage is using products with the wrong pH on the hair. Depending on an individual’s hair type and health, washing once or twice with soap might not immediately be a problem, but it can cause damage over time.

Pure Anada’s shampoo bar formulation is pH balanced, making it safe to use on a regular basis. It is not the same as a bar of soap which contains saponified oils which are a higher pH.

Pure Anada Conditioner Bars – £9.95

Wet the Conditioner Bar in the shower stream, lather in the hands, and then apply the conditioner to the hair or rub the bar directly onto the scalp and throughout hair. Those with oily hair may prefer to only apply conditioner to the bottom half or to the ends of their hair. Work the conditioner throughout the hair and rinse thoroughly.

New luxury brand promotes hair health and wellbeing.

French luxury brand Ella Mae was founded by a brother-sister team who had become concerned they were unable to find hair care products that addressed their specific needs, such as slow-growth and thinning.

ELLA MAE, HAIRCARE, shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, luxury

After much research and investigation including journeys to Paris, Provence and Morocco they have created a new hair care range which aims to revive, hydrate and soothe.

Launched in 2019, Ella Mae uses sustainable, organic ingredients sourced in Provence, and after much success in France, has just launched for sale in the UK through their website: ellamae.com

The range was created to be experienced as a treatment to address common problems like brittle and thinning hair, slow growth and dry scalp. Offering more benefits than an everyday hair-washing routine lit leaves hair feeling softer, shinier and more hydrated. If used twice a week, Ella Mae products will result in at least 30% less follicle breakage.

Every Ella Mae product is nutrient-dense, packed with vitamins and minerals helping to keep hair hydrated, frizz-free and protected. Karanja Oil is used throughout the range offering 100% natural antioxidant protection of hair colour from repeated shampooing and UV Rays.

All ingredients used in the range are paraben and sulphate-free, and never tested on animals. When compared to similar products Ella Mae use 35% fewer synthetic ingredients.

Perhaps one of the more unusual ingredients in Ella Mae products is snail slime, which in fact has some of the best moisturising compounds found in nature and is hugely beneficial for both hair and scalp, and promotes healthy hair growth.

The beautifully-designed packaging combines elegance with simplicity. The entire range is manufactured to the highest standards with a strong focus on luxurious textures and naturally intoxicating scents.

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat and you haven’t got a clue what to give your man for Christmas. There are some great ranges of grooming products which are ideal for the image-conscious male.

Johnny’s Chop Shop (available at Boots and online) and Brisk (available from Boots and Waitrose) both have ranges of products, which make great gifts. Both ranges are unfragranced, which means that they won’t clash with whatever aftershave your bloke normally wears.

Johnny’s Chop Shop are offering a traditional barber shop range. The Born Lucky shampoo £6 for 150g) has a shot of conditioner and leaves your hair squeaky clean without taking all the moisture out. The Soul and Balm face balm (£7.50 for 125ml) is a moisturiser, which puts life back into listless skin. There is also Wild Cat Hair Clay (£7 for 70g), which gives a very stiff hold. It’s great for men – and women – if you want to build a quiff or really make a statement with your hair.

Brisk is aimed at hipsters who enjoy spending time with their beards. They offer a beard oil (£6.99 for 50ml) and a beard shampoo (£4.99 for 150ml). The beard oil leaves an attractive sheen and helps tame even the most unruly beard.

Andreas Wendt Haircare Review

Andreas Wendt Haircare Reviewhair Andreas Wendt Haircare Review Andreas Wendt Thermo Protector Styling Spray reviewNothing makes you feel amazing like great hair, so we are always on the lookout for the next big thing to make our hair look brilliant. We got sent some products from Andreas Wendt Haircare. The range launched exclusively in the UK on idealworld.tv in January.

The exclusive range, created by haircare and styling professional Andreas Wendt, looks to target specific elements of hair styling in particular colour and care. Andreas Wendt is best known for his hair-shows and make-overs throughout the entertainment circuit in Germany and Luxembourg, often frequenting the biggest fashion shows.

But is it any good? We tried the Andreas Wendt Age Vital Shampoo and Conditioner which we thought was great. It left hair shiny and more manageable. We couldn’t stop stroking our hair. The shampoo has horsetail-glycogen energy complex, which helps to cleanse and revive hair. The conditioner really hydrates and nourishes. Both give shine.

Next up we tried the Andreas Wendt Full Tastic Powder. This holds hair and creates volume and texture, a great styling aid that really works.

The Andreas Wendt Thermo Protector Styling Spray is something that everyone should have in their bathroom cabinet. It helps to guard hair from damage caused by heat exposure, the Thermo Protector is a formulation that helps prevent hair from drying out, whilst nourishing it during styling. Containing Panthenol which helps to moisturise hair, improving the condition and giving hair a more visible shine. Heat is very damaging to hair and it is always wise to use a protector. This works well and smells great.

We were impressed with Andreas Wendt’s new haircare range and will continue to use it. We were impressed with the results.

All available from idealworld.tv

Salon Science: AnaGain Review – For Thicker, Fuller, Denser Hair

Frost is reviewing something a bit different: In recent years there has been a huge leap forward in plant bio-active and stem cell technology which has provided access to superior formulations and ingredients which have not, until now, been available in haircare. Salon Science  is a brand new haircare collection of 18 products that uses plant stem cells and bio-active technology within the formulations.

Salon Science- AnaGain Review - For Thicker, Fuller, Denser Hair

Developed by the leading experts in plant stem cells and bio-actives, all of the products are underpinned by extensive in vitro and in vivo testing. The collection is comprised of four ranges, each devised to tackle a specific series of problems using a key active ingredient, derived from plant extracts.

Salon Science seamlessly combines cutting edge scientific expertise with plant bio-active and stem cell technology resulting in a luxury salon quality collection. Salon Science breathes life back into hair… reviving, revitalising and nourishing from root to tip.

There are many reasons why women lose their hair. Pregnancy, hormonal imbalance, nutritional deficiency, metabolism, genetics and stress. With that in mind we tried the AnaGain

This is what they say: “Packed with AnaGain, an organic pea sprout extract that is rich in restorative proteins, starch and fibres. These rebalancing phytonutrients combined with caffeine agents stimulate blood circulation to help encourage the growth of hair at the root. This advanced formulation helps strengthen, add volume, moisturise and protect, making hair more resistant to everyday damage. Continuous use of the Pro-accelerant regime helps give denser, thicker, fuller hair in 3 months.”

Do we think it works? Yes, hair looks noticeable better and thicker. Although this is all cosmetic it make you look and feel better. The shampoo is £15, the conditioner is £17 and the treatment is £39. Considering the price of other hair loss treatments- and the fact that many of them don’t actually work- this seems reasonable. We will continue to use this and give a further update in a few months.
