Wedding Shoes | The Wedding Diary

So I have bought my wedding shoes. It was pretty hard not to put that in capital letters, that’s how excited I am. Well, to be more precise, I have two pairs of wedding shoes. One high and the other (ahem) less high. I completely love the flat shoe trend and wear them all the time, just not on my wedding day. Especially as my husband-to-be is 6.3′. It would be nice to meet his eye on our wedding day.

When I first thought about buying my wedding shoes I was going to buy something quite traditional, a silver, gold or white high-heeled sandal or shoe. In the end I went for colour. A very bright pair of high heels, but comfortable high heels. Yes, there is such a thing. They are peep-toed and after the wedding I will post lots of pictures of them. In the meantime I will post pictures of my evening shoes. They are wedges with a little heel so should be good for dancing the night away. They are a cruise shoe from Hotter and are so comfortable. Far too comfortable for something so stylish. They have built-in underfoot cushioning, soft leather inners and a flexible sole.

With wedding shoes you want ‘wow’ and comfort. Something that makes a statement, that won’t cause a lot of pain and that also makes the dress perfect. It is possible that no one will see your shoes, but you will know you are wearing amazing shoes. You could also get some pictures of them taken by the photographer.

I have sourced some amazing wedding shoes in this article so take a look. And remember, you can wear any shoes to your wedding, you don’t need specific wedding shoes, in fact, you will probably save more money if you keep away from the ‘w’ word.

Let me know what you think.

Petals & Peplums

IMG_1490

Pretty sunny days require pretty outfits. Weeks and weeks of style inspiration has been gathered and I have been craving a peplum hem skirt. unable to fine one I decided to make one. Such an easy skirt to make too. Just adapt a pencil skirt and add 3-4 times the amount of fabric width and the length you require. Gather, stay stitch, pin right sides together to top half and sew…hey presto you have a peplum hem. I am really loving being really creative again and developing a few vintage patterns and remaking them with a modern twist. I still haven’t decided if I am going to be selling my creations just yet. Developing a range can take years but its something I would love to do. So in my down time I have started to do a little bit of designing and pattern cutting. If we ever won the lottery its something that I would do in a heart beat. This skirt is such a simple item to make for spring. Grab an old pencil skirt that fits you perfectly, unpick carefully and you will have an instant toile/pattern for you to recreate all sorts of designs.

If yo don’t want to make one for yourself you can purchase them on ASOS this one below is priced at £40. Mine cost me £12 and took me 1 hour to make!

Dolce Inspired Look

This season I am loving all the Spring summer 2014 collections. Brands that are shining and screaming out to be used for style inspiration are Dolce & Gabbana with its stunning and sexy curvaceous collection and Burberry for its girly lace and sheer paneling. They are truly making women feel wonderful and bringing back the feminine looks of the 50s and 60s with their wiggle skirts. Would you like to own a stunning runway skirt. Well with some creative flair you can. Along with the right accessories you will look picture perfect. On any budget…Trust me as I have styled so many women and worked with countless icons in the fashion world. All it takes is a little know how and a savvy eye for amazing finds. I love sharing them with you so you can create your own fantastic looks. Everyday is a runway in my head!

Here is my take on the sexy feminine looks hitting the high street soon. Think skirts, lots of amazing skirts and lots of big jewels. Non of this need to break the bank either. The skirt is a little 1 hour creation I made last week, all you need is a sewing machine and some simple dotty fabric. I purchased one metre and threw this together out of a basic pattern bought in my local C&H Fabrics. I adapted the size to fit me perfectly making a toile (test pattern) now I can create whatever my heart desires. I say if you can sew a straight line then you can sew anything! the jacket was found in a charity shop. Shoes are from Zara and the bag is vintage. If you would like an article all about creating one for yourself let me know. Ping me a little Tweet @sarahbacchus and I will set about doing a tutorial for you! IMG_1428IMG_1407IMG_1389

The main event here is this stunning necklace found on eBay no less. For the whopper of a price tag of £7.50!! Fashion and style don’t need to cost the earth. Worn with a Primark top costing £5! Before you head off to purchase any expensive item take a look on ebay as I am sure you will be mesmerised at the range. Now it is worth mentioning this one came from America so I had to way a few weeks to receive it, I am sure you will agree for less than £10 including postage it was a steel. It pulls this look together making it look very of the moment.IMG_1379IMG_1495IMG_1378IMG_1373IMG_1369seeing spotsIMG_1356IMG_1350IMG_1343IMG_1348
