An aspiring actor and film extra got caught out lying about being a stormtrooper in the new Star Wars film…by Lucasfilm. Alex Rolt had a lot of positive feedback when he told his local paper that he played the stormtrooper who says the line “Traitor!” in the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens film. The drama school graduate told the paper he had been chosen because of his fencing experience to fight against Boyega. He told the journalist: ‘They got me in the stormtrooper outfit but the prop didn’t have a clip or anything on the uniform, so I had to hold it in a certain way then deliver the line: “Traitor!” ‘ The interview then went viral.

The interview came to the attention of Star Wars production company LucasFilm who revealed the role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was played by veteran stuntman Liang Yang.

Rolt made a public apology and admitted he only had a small extra role in the production. He said on Twitter: “Sorry for doing this to all the fans. Was a joke that got out of hand. My career is tarnished.”

Acting is a very hard career and actors do embellish their careers sometimes. Unfortunately, Rolt did not simply embellish, but took the credit for another actors part. It probably was a joke that got out of hand. It remains to be seen if he can redeem his reputation in the industry but it could be possible. He has already publicly apologised and that is the first step.

New Star Wars Film – It’s Official!

George Lucas has sold LucasFilm to Walt Disney for $4.05 billion and now the studio has confirmed it will make Star Wars Episode 7 in 2015.

If you are a fan of George Lucas then don’t get upset, Lucas will be working on the film as a creative consultant.

“It’s now time for me to pass ‘Star Wars’ on to a new generation of filmmakers,” announced George Lucas.

Kathleen Kennedy, who is the current co-chairman of Lucasfilm, will become the president and report to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn.

George Lucas Retires.

George Lucas is set to retire and has named Kathleen Kennedy as his successor.

Lucas will work with the Academy-award nominated producer during the transition. Lucas will then become co-chairman of the board of Lucasfilm and will continue as CEO.

“I’ve spent my life building Lucasfilm and as I shift my focus into other directions I wanted to make sure it was in the hands of someone equipped to carry my vision into the future,” said Lucas,

“It was important that my successor not only be someone with great creative passion and proven leadership abilities, but also someone who loves movies,” Lucas added. “I care deeply about my employees — it is their creativity and hard work that has made this company what it is today. As the company grows and expands I wanted to be sure the employees of Lucasfilm have a strong captain for the ship. I also care deeply about our fans and it was important to have someone who would carry on the passion and care that I’ve given the films over the years. So for me Kathy was the obvious choice, she is a trusted friend and one of the most respected producers and executives in the industry.”

Lucas friend and collaborator Steven Spielberg said, “George’s prescience is once again proven by his choice of my long time producing partner, Kathy Kennedy, to co-chair Lucasfilm. Kathy has been a member of both of our families going into a fourth decade so it does not feel like she is going to another galaxy far far away. She will get just as much support from me with Lucasfilm as George has given both of us all these years.”

“George is a true visionary,” said Kennedy. “I’ve seen him build Lucasfilm from a small rebel unit in Northern California to an international fully integrated entertainment company. I’m excited to have the chance to work with such an extraordinary group of talented people. George and I have talked about the enormous opportunities that lie ahead for the company, and as George moves towards retirement I am honored that he trusts me with taking care of the beloved film franchises. I feel fortunate to have George working with me for the next year or two as I take on this role–it is nice to have Yoda by your side.”

ZAC EFRON IS THE VOICE OF ANAKIN SKYWALKER IN THE PREMIERE OF ROBOT CHICKEN: STAR WARS EPISODE III

Adult Swim is bringing the force a bit closer to home on 27th December with the European premiere of the third Star Wars special of its Emmy award-winning stop-motion animated series Robot Chicken. The 45 minute long episode, starring Zac Efron will be available to view on adultswim.co.uk for 1 week until 3rd January 2011.

The legendary story of the intergalactic struggle between good vs. evil gets a unique make-over in Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III with full endorsement from Lucasfilm. The episode brazenly combines the satirical touch of the show’s creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich’s series Robot Chicken, with the Star Wars universe. Four key characters (Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Gary the Stormtrooper) reveal the untold stories of what went on behind the scenes throughout all six Star Wars films from Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi. The first two instalments in the Robot Chicken: Star Wars trilogy resulted in multiple award nominations and numerous Annie Awards and fast became the highest-rated original program on Adult Swim in the US.

Matthew Senreich says, “We wanted to take the Star Wars universe and see it through the eyes of Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Gary the Stormtrooper.
