The Chelsea Antiques Fair Returns To The Old Town Hall

After last year’s successful re-launch, The Chelsea Antiques Fair will return to the Chelsea Old Town Hall twice in 2014. One of the highlights in every antiques lover’s diary, the Spring Fair will take place from Wednesday, 19th to Sunday, 23rd March 2014.

The Fair, which was established in 1950, prides itself on its boutique style set up with a great variety of traditional art & antiques and a time line up to mid 20th Century. Around 35 specialist dealers have been chosen for their expertise in each field and will bring exquisite highlights to the Fair, as well as objects with more affordable price tags from £100. The friendly Fair is known as the perfect place to chat to dealers and learn more about their specialities and collecting art and antiques in general.

This year’s Fair promises some great discoveries for collectors, investors and anyone decorating their home. Generalists like Mark Stacey, known for his appearances on BBC Antiques programmes, will exhibit next to British paintings specialists, jewellery dealers, oak furniture experts and Works of Art dealers, specialising in glass, ceramics, silver and textiles.

There will also be a more active angle to the fair, with some live demonstrations of carpet restoration on the Pars Rug Gallery stand and talks by antiques and art specialists and interior experts.

This year’s Fair will again support the Hearing Dogs for Deaf people charity, with a percentage of sales from selected objects going directly to the charity.
The Autumn Chelsea Antiques Fair will take place from 17-21 September, 2014.

Independent film Third Contact Tours after making cinema history at BFI IMAX

Third Contact is the debut feature film from Director Simon Horrocks and his company, BodyDouble Films. After a successful premiere at the renowned BFI IMAX, the independent film will make its way around the UK, Europe, America and Canada over the next four months. Screenings are being funded by Indiegogo and Tugg using a unique ‘cinema on demand’ approach.

The story follows Dr David Wright, a depressed psychotherapist, who embarks on an obsessive investigation after a second patient takes their life in mysterious circumstances.

Shot using only a handheld camcorder, a microphone and a light, the overall budget for the film came to an astonishingly low £4000. The film has been praised for its exceptional camera work in addition to its seamless use of colours, themes and sounds throughout. The actors have been credited on numerous occasions for their performances whilst the script has been commended on its intelligence.

The writer and director, Simon Horrocks, who also took care of filming, casting, production and editing, had raised the money to put the film together by working in a cinema. Later down the line, Horrocks would be making cinema history for having a film short costing virtually nothing, screening in a theatre alongside films made for £200 million.

This milestone moment in Horrocks career came together by a Kickstarter campaign, which funded the premiere held at the BFI IMAX in London. The likes of MacUser Magazine and Raindance Film Festival got behind the project and made donations towards the campaign.

Once the premiere had taken place the film received rave reviews from the likes of Faust, Critics Associated, Frankenpost, Movie Sleuth and The London Film Review. Third Contact also made it to the prestigious HoF International Film Festival in Germany.

Third Contact will be screening in various locations in the UK, Europe, Canada and America over the forthcoming few months.

An Evening With Sylvester Stallone

 AN EVENING WITH SYLVESTER STALLONE IN LONDON Hollywood’s much-loved action hero Sylvester Stallone is set to enthrall, enlighten and entertain the UK at a unique ‘An Evening With’ event at London’s iconic Central Hall, Westminster on Saturday, 11th January 2014. Stallone then released his most ambitious project, the action thriller The Expendables, which he wrote, directed and starred in, and for which he hired an all star action cast including Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Eric Roberts, Dolph Lungren and Steve Austin – as well as Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It opened to Number One at the Box Office – making Stallone the only actor in Hollywood history to open a Number One film across five decades.

 

Seen as one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars, Sylvester Stallone will be seen at Christmas 2013 starring in Grudge Match with Robert DeNiro. In March, 2014, Rocky the Musical will open at The Winter Garden on Broadway. The musical is based on the original film written by Sylvester Stallone with music by Stephen Flaherty and Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens.

FLASH Entertainment have announced today that the Rolling Stones will kick off their 14 ON FIRE tour presented by Eastspring Investments (#StonesOnFire) with a very special one-off show at Abu Dhabi’s du Arena (Yas Island) on Friday 21 February (#StonesAbuDhabi).

The Book of Mormon Review | Theatre

The Book of Mormon is much hyped. Every paper and magazine is full of glowing reviews and the word of mouth is strong. But does it live up to the hype? Well, yes and then some. This controversial musical from the makers of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, who is a co-composer/co-lyricist of Avenue Q, is actually one of, if not the, best thing I have ever seen in my life. While it could just comes across as mean and bullying, it is an incredibly smart musical religious satire. It will make you think, it will make you laugh and it will make you happy.

The Book of Mormon tells the story of two young Mormon missionaries sent to a remote village in northern Uganda, where a brutal warlord is threatening the local population. Naïve and optimistic, the two missionaries try to share the Book of Mormon, one of their scriptures, but have trouble connecting with the locals, who are more worried about war, famine, poverty, and AIDS than about religion.

I laughed all the way through and I cannot wait to see it again. It had funny line after funny line and not one weak scene during the whole musical. The production values were extremely high. Everything was done without compromise. The sets and costumes were fantastic. The script was ingenious, the acting, choreography, music and singing was incredible. What more can I say? This musical will go down as an all time great, it probably already has, you won’t want to miss it. A must see.

Sasha Wilkins (LLG) to host uniquely stylish afternoon tea party

Liberty London GirlLRNatural, fair and delicious Clipper Teas has launched a series of very special afternoon tea parties hosted by celebrity florist Nikki Tibbles, English gardener Rachel de Thame, and style blogger Liberty London Girl (A.K.A Sasha Wilkins) in aid of national charity, Contact the Elderly.

The three ladies – known for their mix of stunning interiors, blossoming gardens, and enviable style credentials – will each personally host a unique afternoon tea party this Winter. Ticket-holders will be invited to devour luxurious treats and sample a range of Clipper teas in stunning surroundings, including Nikki’s very own period home, Rachel’s botanical haven, and LLG’s Regent’s Canal barge.
