An Exhibition to Marvel At: L’ODYSSÉE D’UN ROI

lxiii-royal-monceau-european-copy

Over the years Burlington Arcade have played host to many decadent and luxurious goods from all over the globe. For one final week, the Arcade will add to its list another legend, a piece so fine and exquisite that following the exhibition tour, it will be auctioned off at the prestigious Sotheby’s. We are of course talking about L’Odyssée d’Un Roi, a collaboration featuring some of the most luxurious craftsmen in the design world and also in the World of the finest Cognac, Louis XIII. If ever there were a chance to see an example of the most impressive French craftsmanship, then L’Odyssée d’Un Roi offers up Louis XIII Cognac, Hermés, Puiforcat and Saint-Louis as it’s travelling companions to complete this unique item.

Alongside L’Odyssée d’Un Roi itself, the exhibit features a chance to see the tools which are used to hand-make each of the items in L’Odyssée d’Un Roi, from the white gold pipettes to the mouth-blown, hand-engraved crystal magnum decanter and glasses. A truly worthy collaboration to such a historic and iconic Grande Champagne Cognac. Follow the journey Louis XIII has made on its passage throughout the ages and bid farewell to a legend which will make it’s way to someone lucky enough to purchase it at auction. With the last one recently selling at Sotheby’s New York for a cool $134,750, we think we’ll just stick to admiring its beauty from afar.

All proceeds from the auction will go to The Film Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by Martin Scorsese and several other filmmakers to restore and preserve classic films.

L’Odyssée d’Un Roi will feature at Burlington Arcade until 21st October

Burlington Arcade, 51 Piccadilly, London W1J 0QJ.

La Maison Rémy Martin are the Hosts with The Most

RemyMondrian00107

To celebrate the buildup of hotly anticipated private members’ club La Maison Rémy Martin, we were invited to The Rumpus Room at Mondrian London for “A Night of Olympic Talent”. The evening is one of many to be hosted by La Maison Rémy Martin where the element of surprise and exploration of craftsmanship is very much at the forefront, much like the mystère of the brand itself.

RemyMondrian00077

We had the privilege of meeting Olympians Jade Johnson, Dalton Grant and Peter Wilson MBE to hear their unique and insightful stories on their Olympic journeys and current lives whilst enjoying a selection of specially curated Rémy Martin cocktails including Rémy Grand Tonic, 1738 Royal Side Car and XO Old Fashion. All cocktails were a Rémy take on old classics and were a welcome change to the old favourites. Created with the iconic Rémy Martin we were immersed in the brands allure of luxury and surprise. Whilst kicking back on the plush leather sofas of the Rumpus Room, it was a joy to hear the Olympians’ highs and lows as well as hearing Peter Wilson MBE answer our burning question of how much partying he did after winning, needless to say, he couldn’t recall much from the week after. The evening was a relaxed affair and incredibly inspirational to hear such wise words from these winning athletes. If this is how La Maison Rémy Martin do all their events this is certainly a club I would love to be a part of. We finished our evening perfectly with Rémy Martin neat providing a gold finish to an already winning evening.

Vintage Seekers launches ‘Shop by Celebration’ for Wine & Spirits

Vintage Seekers are a Frost Magazine favourite. We went to their amazing launch have been charting their rise ever since.

The latest thing Vintage Seekers are doing is allowing you to buy the gift of great wine, from the vintage year that matters to you

Whether it’s a 1982 Chateau Cos d’Estournel for a 30th birthday, a 2002 Dom Pérignon Rosé for a 10th wedding anniversary, or a magnum of 1991 Château Mouton Rothschild to mark a loved one’s 21st, Vintage Seekers presents a concise hand-picked selection of wine, spirits and Champagne to match all the significant birthdays and anniversaries of 2012.

Until now, gifting someone a wine from their birth year or anniversary required a directionless and time-consuming trawl on the Internet through pages of results of different merchants and wine guides.

New for spring 2012, Vintage Seekers has given the industry a luxury makeover to provide a stylish source that both satisfies the experts and makes great wine accessible for everyone. With gifts starting from just £70, Vintage Seekers aims to dispel the myth that fine and rare wines or spirits are prohibitively expensive.

On the site you’ll find a reliably curated collection to rival that of the leading luxury retailers, sourced from Vintage Seekers’ network of leading wine merchants. We see it as your little black book for the best wines in the business.

Vintage Seekers presents you with the most show-stopping offering from each vintage, comprising not just fine wines, but also Armagnac, Cognac, Calvados, Port, Madeira, Sherry, single malt whisky and prestige multi-vintage Champagne.

Finally, beyond the online range, Vintage Seekers’ concierge ‘Seeker Service’ is able to source clients specific vintages to order for no additional fee.
