A loved one passing away is always hard, so anything that makes dealing with the administration of a death is something to be thankful for. After the FTC passed a new funeral rule in 1995 consumers became able to supply their own goods at funerals. This was great news for people buying funeral goods as it makes the process easier and makes sure you do not get ripped off during a time when you will be emotionally vulnerable. The rule also allows you to get the price over the telephone and see a written price for caskets los angeles and anywhere else.

Neil Armstrong, who was the first man on the Moon, has died aged 82.
The US astronaut set foot on the moon on 20th July 1969 and uttered the famous words, “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”.
His family released a statement saying he died from complications from heart surgery.
US President Barack Obama said Amstrong was “among the greatest of American heroes – not just of his time, but of all time”.
Armstrong received the Congressional Gold Medal in November last year, the highest US civilian award.
Armstrong spent three hours walking on the moon with fellow astronaut Buzz Aldrin.
Buzz Aldrin said: “It’s very sad indeed that we’re not able to be together as a crew on the 50th anniversary of the mission… [I will remember him] as a very capable commander.”
In 1971, he left NASA to teach aerospace engineering.
Armstrong was born in 1930 and was raised in Ohio, he caught the flying bug at six and flew Navy jets in the Korean War, he joined NASA in 1962.
His family called him a “reluctant American hero” who had “served his nation proudly, as a navy fighter pilot, test pilot, and astronaut”.
Neil Armstrong famously said:
“I think we’re going to the moon because it’s in the nature of the human being to face challenges. It’s by the nature of his deep inner soul… we’re required to do these things just as salmon swim upstream.”
“I believe every human has a finite number of heartbeats. I don’t intend to waste any of mine.”
After the incredibly sad news that Tony Scott killed himself, his friend have revealed that he
had inoperable brain cancer and only killed himself so his family were spared watching him die slowly and painfully.
ABC News revealed why the 68-year-old director jumped to his death on Sunday, by leaping from the Vincent Thomas Bridge. He left a suicide note.
A friend told the New York Post:
‘He has been suffering from cancer and he had a relapse. He wasn’t depressed, he was a lovely guy. On Sundays everyone went to his house, there would be the guy who worked in his local restaurant sitting by the pool by Michael Caine.’
Another source added: ‘He did have cancer, and for a while he was cancer free. He didn’t have any money problems or marriage problems.’
Scott directed such classics as Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II and Enemy Of The State and was the younger brother of director Ridley Scott. He fell within feet of a cruise boat around 12.30 p.m in front of horrified tourists.
‘He landed right next to our tour boat, and many of us saw the whole thing,’ a witness, who had been on the cruise told TMZ.
The Contra Costa Times reported that Scott climbed a fence on the south side of the bridge, which spans San Pedro and Terminal Island, at 12.30 p.m. on Sunday and leaped off ‘without hesitation’.
Simon Halls, a publicist for the Scott brothers, said. ‘The family asks for privacy during this time,’
Ridley Scott is flying from London to Los Angeles to be with his brother’s family.
He leaves behind two twin sons and his wife Donna. Hollywood is poorer today at the loss of such an amazing talent.
Music artist Professor Green is encouraging people to stop listening to his music. He’s teamed up with us for our new safety campaign asking people to remove their headphones at level crossings so they aren’t distracted from warnings about approaching trains.
Two people have tragically died this year at footpath crossings and it is thought they were wearing headphones, in the past five years there have been 19 incidents involving headphones at level crossings.
Two people have died this year at footpath crossings where it is thought they were wearing headphones. In the past five years, train drivers or railway staff have reported 19 incidents where pedestrians, joggers or cyclists wearing headphones have crossed the railway, seemingly oblivious to the approaching train.
“I never imagined asking people to stop listening to my music but this is about staying safe, so just for a minute, I want them to stop. I know it’s very easy to get caught up in a track when you have your headphones on and get distracted from where you are and what’s around you but I’m asking, please, lose your headphones when at a level crossing and pay attention to all the safety warnings. I don’t want anyone to end up on the tracks listening to one of mine.”

Win Sonos music speakers
Our digital campaign ‘Lose Your Headphones’ features the popular rapper in a video which appears on the music streaming service Spotify as well as being promoted via social media sites such as Twitter. We’re offering a prize of Sonos music speakers to five lucky winners who re-tweet our campaign message.
Don’t get distracted
Trains can travel up to 125mph on the main British rail network and even with safety warnings such as lights and signs at footpaths across the tracks, it’s easy to get distracted if you’re caught up with your favourite tune.
Stay safe
Dr Bruno Fazenda, from the Acoustics Research Centre, University of Salford said: “Hearing is the only sense that can warn us of dangers we can’t see and when listening to music with headphones we become isolated and are less likely to hear sounds that might tell us of approaching dangers. It’s not just the volume of the music but also because the headphone itself blocks out ambient noise.
There is also plenty of evidence which shows that when you are doing two activities at the same time, such as listening to music or texting and crossing a railway track, your attention gets divided in such a way that you might not notice an approaching train even if all the warning signals are there.”
NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP – THOSE PHOTOS WE CAN’T BRING OURSELVES TO GET RID OF
·43 per cent of Brits keep photographs of former partners
Breaking up is hard to do, and while millionairess Tamara Ecclestone has tasked bodyguards with ridding her home of every trace of her love rat ex-boyfriend Omar Khyami, research from Friends Reunited shows many of us can’t bring ourselves to be so cut-throat. The latest findings reveal 21.6 million Brits have held onto photographs of former partners following a break up.
Women are more sentimental than men, with 61 per cent claiming they keep the photos as they highlight a part of their life they don’t want to forget, versus 56 per cent of men. But men may be hiding more from their partners than their other halves realise. One in five men (20%) in a current relationship who have photos of their ex partners say they have hidden photos of an ex fearing disapproval from their new partner, compared to only nine per cent of women.
Men also seem to have more weighing on their conscience, as 17 per cent said they ‘sometimes feel guilty about keeping photos of their ex partners’, compared to just 11 per cent of their female counterparts. They may have good reason for this, however, as more than one in ten men who keep photos of their ex partners (12%) admit they still have feelings for their ex, compared to only five percent of women.
Corinne Sweet, behavioral psychologist said: “It’s not surprising that nearly half of us keep some kind of visual memento of past partners; a photo generates strong emotions as it unleashes memories of past attachment and times. The main reason people hide their photos (especially men) is probably due to a fear of their current partner’s jealousy, or of evoking comparisons in terms of attractiveness and sexiness, etc. Emotionally mature partners will be able to accept you have a past love-life.
“The point at which people are able to put an ex-partner’s photo away (after a split, divorce or death) is usually the time they are emotionally ready to move on. Yet, it is totally understandable for people to keep photos to remind them of previous loves, as, indeed, these images do form part of our life stories – whether for better or for worse.”

The majority of us (48%) keep these snaps in old photo albums, but others (31%) stash them in cupboards and drawers, or in the attic (12%). Nine per cent of men say they purposely keep the photos in hidden files on their computer.
Matt Bushby, Head of Friends Reunited, said: “We all have photos from our past we want to keep; whether we want to share with others, or remain private. Old photos are often the best – they bring back memories and blasts from the pasts, even if we think we’d sometimes prefer to forget! The new Friends Reunited site is the one place you can search, collect and save treasured personal memories, especially old photos that have a special place in our hearts and you make them totally private if you want too!”
Gore Vidal died yesterday at the age of 86. Frost has gathered some great quotes, a story and a video of his wit and genius. Enjoy and RIP Gore. The New York Times’s brilliant obituary has this gem:
In 1968, while covering the Democratic National Convention on television, he called William F. Buckley a “cryptofascist.” Buckley responded by calling Mr. Vidal a “queer,” and the two were in court for years. In a 1971 essay he compared Norman Mailer to Charles Manson, and a few months later Mailer head-butted him in the green room while the two were waiting to appear on the Dick Cavett show. They then took their quarrel on the air in a memorable exchange that ended with Mr. Cavett’s telling Mailer to take a piece of paper on the table in front of them and “fold it five ways and put it where the moon don’t shine.” In 1975 Mr. Vidal sued Truman Capote for libel after Capote wrote that Mr. Vidal had been thrown out of the Kennedy White House. Mr. Vidal won a grudging apology.

Spoiler Alert. Anyone who doesn’t want to know what happens in Desperate Housewives should not read further.
News of the series regular who is to die in an upcoming episode of Desperate Housewives has been revealed after it was let slip in a court hearing between the show creator Marc Cherry and Nicolette Sheridan.
James Denton’s character Mike Delfino will die. Denton has been a series regular since the show started in 2004 and he plays Teri Hatcher’s husband on the show.

Whitney Houston has died at the tragically young age of 48. Her death has left the entertainment industry in shock.
Houston was found dead in her room in the Beverly Hilton yesterday. The Los Angeles police said paramedics had tried to resuscitate Houston but they were unable and she was pronounced dead at 3.55pm local time.
Houston, who was one of the biggest selling artists of the 80s and 90s, had battled drug addiction. Police also said that there was no “obvious signs” of any criminal intent.
Houston had been due to make an appearance at the Grammy Awards tonight, and had been at rehearsals, as she was to perform for her mentor Clive Davis.
Aretha Franklin said: “I just can’t talk about it now, It’s so stunning and unbelievable. I couldn’t believe what I was reading coming across the TV screen. My heart goes out to Cissy, her daughter Bobby Kris, her family and Bobby.”
Tributes have been flooding in for the singer. Mariah Cary said she was “heartbroken”
“Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston,” Carey wrote on Twitter.
“My heartfelt condolences to Whitney’s family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world.

“I will always be grateful and in awe of the wonderful performance she did on my song and I can truly say from the bottom of my heart, “Whitney, I will always love you. You will be missed.”
Houston also starred in hit movies including The Bodyguard. She won multiple Grammys and sold millions of records.
As well as her drug addiction her 15-year marriage to Bobby Brown came to an end in 2007.
Brown told a sell-out crowd in Mississippi: “First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all. Second, I would like to say, I love you Whitney. The hardest thing for me to do is to come on this stage.”
