The sound on this unique and beautiful speaker is amazing. It is also wireless and has a lot of connectivity options. Some of us found it hard initially to connect it wirelessly and some of us also had technology that was too advanced. It is still brilliant, has amazing sound and is perfect for people who are not as inept technically as some of us are.

Create the perfect Christmas soundtrack with the Libratone Loop. It’s not only a powerful sound source, equipped with Libratone’s signature FullRoom™ technology and numerous connectivity options including DLNA, PlayDirect™ and Apple’s Airplay, it also really stands out, whether mounted on the wall or free standing thanks to its svelte cylindrical design. We are completely obsessed with this phone. The fact we have been watching Mad Men has not helped. It is just so freakin’ cool. This is a wonderful blend of modern tech and retro inspired design that runs through the GPO brand. Sometimes when you can have just about anything, stylish and retro is best. It even has the proper traditional rotary dial up. Each of the products is stocked in GPO’s online store but also NotontheHighStreet.com, Tesco.com, Amazon.co.uk and Very.co.uk so plenty of choice.

Music Cube at Westfield was an amazing event and is set to change the way we all experience live music. Bands and music artists performing live in a clear soundproof glass cube with LED lights, sub woofers built into the flooring so you not only can see, hear but feel the performance. Listening to this via state of the art Sennheiser headphones! Now we where invited and you can experience this thought the medium I know best!….Pictures!

Styling Tips

I’m constantly telling my clients what to wear, how to style thing up. How to create loads of amazing outfits, but what I rarely say is what not to wear. So here goes…this is my list of 10 things to avoid.

Those of you that love any of these items I do not mean to harm your confidence and just so you know none of the following examples of clothing where harmed in any way while writing this and getting it out of my system. For one factor…I don’t own any of them as the images have been borrowed via *Google!!

1. The dreaded scrunchie and yes I know I should like Carrie in that episode of Sex and The City with Burger her writer lover how quite frankly irritated me from the start. Scrunchies should be burnt. Simple as that..you don’t look good in them even if your in the bath.

2. Crocs, those things are the least sexy, unflattering item of footwear to ever be created. They hold no style and not a ounce of street credibility. Large, flappy and down right nasty. You could get me on the Birkenstock’s but I wouldn’t want to offend many of you fellow fashion bloggers that have fallen into this bewildering trap!! The only crocs you should own are stunning ones!! Not necessarily these below but you get my drift!

3. Quilted coats, you know the ones that look like you have just wrapped yourself in a black seamed doublet duvet. Who needs to add about 6 inches to their frame and most are made from the most horrendous unbreathable fabric. I rest my case…

4. Any form of skirt, or shorts that end at the thickest part of the thigh or calf. You will add 2 or 3 stones in weight to yourself without even trying. Always have the hem sitting at the slimmest part. Just where the legs look slimmer as this will create the illusion of a set of Bambi pins to kill for. Here is a great look to show off slim calfs and this will hide bulky legs if worn with darker tights and boots.

5. Cheep bags of any description that are threadbare. Or that the stitching looks unfinished, tatty or wonky. Hunt for one off good quality leather bags in thrift stores and charity shops. It’s amazing what you can find.

6. White bras. They are the work of the devil. They look nasty after one wash, dreadful under white clothing as they can be seen. Bras should be hand washed at all times to keep them strong and in perfect shape. Nude is a more appealing colour and will sit very nicely under your crisp white shirt to blouse.

7. Legins as trousers…I’m not raging about this one too long. If you can’t see why this is wrong then you need to book my styling services more than you think!

8. Matching your bag with your shoes, it’s so circa 1980s it’s just not cool, try and clash with the other accessories and try different things. You will look way more effortlessly put together and it will spice up even a very simple jeans and T-shirt number.

9. Never go out with dark smoky eyes and deep red lips. It’s too much and my rule of thumb is dark eyes, nude lips. Red or deep lips, simple eyes, say just a black flick and no eyeshadow.

top

10. Finally the last and most important rule. Don’t get too tied up in size and label snobbery. Try different brands and visit shops you are unfamiliar with. A multitude of amazing finds are just hangers away. Rummage through all size tops. The larger more slouchy ones are sometimes so much more sexy as they drop off the shoulder. Play with your style and have fun with it. Just remember fashion is only in the shops for a few weeks, it’s style that you want to create.

Foxcroft and Ginger

Foxcroft and Ginger was opened 4 years ago, Foxcroft & Ginger takes its name from its owners. Quentin’s family name is Foxcroft and his wife Georgina who is a very proud redhead. With their combined passion for food and relaxation and seeing as there was nowhere that offered a totally chilled out place to just sit, eat and enjoy the finer things in life, they set about brining a little place to relax, eat fabulous food, sip tremendous coffee and indulge in a spot of wine. They found a missing niche and they have certainly done a grand job of filling it.

FoxCroft and Ginger Foxcroft and Ginger (3 of 32) Foxcroft and Ginger (2 of 32)

We where invited to sample the menu and see for ourselves that this place has ready got what it takes to make any hungry Londoner satisfied in more ways than one.

The decor is modern and industrial with exposed brick walls, wooden tables and benches that have comfy cushions. Very welcoming when you want to while away a few hours enjoying fine coffee, fresh orange juice and delectable food.

We where seated upstairs near the window, perfect for food photography. If you know me by now you will know I’m rather partial to a good foodie shot. Fashion and food are my favourite things in life and when you find a fashionable place to eat that makes the heart race a little faster.

We ordered our coffees, Ian went for the long black and I had the Aeropress, Mine was like nectar, no sugar or milk was needed although they did give me a nice little jug of steamed soya milk on the side. By all accounts Ian’s coffee was rather good too.

Foxcroft and Ginger (9 of 32) FoxCroft and Ginger Foxcroft and Ginger (12 of 32) Foxcroft and Ginger (11 of 32) Foxcroft and Ginger (10 of 32)

We indulged in a drop of freshly squeezed orange juice that was sublime and complemented or brunch so well. Served in mini bottles they looked just perfect nestled on the little wooden table.

FoxCroft and Ginger

Now for the main event….the food. I have never seen eggs Benedict served with pulled pork before so this is what I opted for. Ian had the hash brown, sausage, egg breakfast with Bloody Mary sauce.

My perfect eggs on perfect soft, lean pulled pork that melted into the sourdough bread so tenderly. This is what Sundays where meant for. Ian’s dish was accompanied by lots of nodding in my direction so I feel he felt the same.

Foxcroft and Ginger (14 of 32)    Foxcroft and Ginger (17 of 32) Foxcroft and Ginger (16 of 32) Foxcroft and Ginger (15 of 32)

  FoxCroft and Ginger

We then paused for a while chatting about our weekend and how great the place was. Trying to pick fault but alas all we could come up with was that we actually live a little too far away and it meant we couldn’t make it our regular Sunday haunt!!

FoxCroft and Ginger

Never one to pass up on pudding even brunch has to have a sweet! Ian decided to go for a pot proper tea and a freshly made scone with jam. Keen not to pile on too many pounds I could only muster a herbal tea! Letting the side down I know, but did you see the size of my meal?!

Now we have to point out here that yes this is rather a picture packed review but seeing is believing and we needed to do this place justice, and you know me…photography and Personal styling are my main things, along with of course writing for Frost and my own fashion magazine!

All the food served at Foxcroft and Ginger is all made on the premises including the jam, scones, cakes and even the bread. Most of the cakes and bread are sold to other local establishments and they only purchase local produce for around the area.

Foxcroft and Ginger (5 of 32)

FoxCroft and Ginger

If you haven’t paid them a visit you really should, if you are lucky enough to live near by we are very jealous and wish we could sample the entire menu! Saying that we defiantly will be back as it’s top of our list as everything we saw served looked utterly beautiful.

Top marks for presentation, satisfaction, attention to detail and the staff where delightful and attentive.

We give it 5 stars here at Frost Magazine as all go this delicious food came in under £25!!!

Feathers 40th Birthday Bash

We spent a wonderful night celebrating with a charming family and drank some seriously exceptional cocktails. We chatted away to all 3 generations about life, family, pets and the passion of the clothing industry. To say I was in my element would be an understatement.

The event was supported by D1 London Gin with the distinctive blue skull artwork created by Jacky Tsai who you all will instantly recognise his designs when I say “Alexander McQween” He was the intern that created the highly sought after fashion accessory that to this day is still coveted.

He is a passionate artist that’s so humble you just gravitate to him. We talked about all his up and coming creations, what inspires him, design, life and his culture. But mostly our love of fabrics, pattern cutting and all the fashion geeky stuff that makes me giddy. I’m really looking forward to seeing his new collection soon and letting you all know more about him.

The reason we where there was to celebrate with Feathers for its 40th birthday. Feathers is a beautiful family run business that first opened it’s doors way back in 1969. The Burstein’s gave the original boutique labels like Biba, Ossie Clark and many more. Now the stunning well established shop has a huge following and an even bigger reputation.

Style and fashion is what I live, breath and sleep for. I’m the kind of girl that goes to bed at night dreaming about all aspects of style, from shooting beauty, helping clients feel and look good to searching for one off outfits I or they will love for years to come.

My idea of a perfect day is browsing in a calm little boutique that I know will always be able to help me find the perfect outfit for my client or myself! Being able to find stunning items that will work on photo shoots or just to browse amongst the delightful clothes and mentally style an outfit from top to bottom I’m my head.
Feathers ticks all the boxes for me and even you are not close to the Knightsbridge store they have an online boutique that’s amazingly user friendly. The company are constantly looking for new and exciting designers to add to the store and website. Keeping it up to date for each and every season. There is something for everyone and quality is guaranteed.

We have decided to go back very soon and feature the store for an article. They where packed to the rafters last night and it was one of the best fashion gorges we have had in a very long time. We filled up on perfectly made cocktails featuring the totally mind blowing infused gin created by D.J. Limbrey and glorious style.

The shop is situated right next to Harrods so you can’t miss it. It’s well worth a visit and even if you can’t make a trip there you have to follow this wonderful families boutique on twitter! If you are near by then pop along, say hello and wander about this beautiful store. If you have ever heard of them then you will thank me so much for introducing it to you! Now get those heels on and hightail yourself off for a gastronomic fashion feast!

Now if you have spotted yourself and want a lovely little link to your website to Twitter page, please don’t hesitate in contacting me @SarahBacchus and l will give you a mention with links. Both myself and my photographer husband Ian Bacchus had a great evening and came home with so many cards we lost track!!

Emma-Jane Photography | Wedding Photography

Out of all of the things to get right on your wedding, the photography is very important. Why spend all of that money and not capture the day properly. Your wedding photographs will be something that even your grandchildren will look at. The pressure to get them right can be tremendous.

My husband and I got very lucky. I met Emma-Jane at a press event and she was an easy choice as our wedding photographer. Talented, friendly and professional. She wasn’t just a photographer on the day, she was someone who was calm and unflappable, she was endlessly helpful and managed every crisis that came her way. She has a great eye and her pictures are just stunning.

She took this picture of me. She managed to capture the light perfectly.

I can’t stop gushing about her. Emma does other photography and has been in Tatler, Hello and this magazine you are reading now. She is endlessly talented and I can recommend her for any photography project you have, including the one on the most important day of your life.

Frost Writer Helen Takes The Stoptober Challenge

As challenges go, stopping smoking is a pretty huge one. Not only is smoking addictive but it eases stress for those who do it. But the benefits of giving up are vast: smoking is terrible for your health and takes years off your life, giving up is one of the best things you can do for your health, it saves money: cigarettes are now over £9 per pack and it stops your clothes smelling bad. Smoking even makes the walls in your house yellow so giving up would be life-changing.

fitness-get healthy

I want to give up to improve my health and save money. I will be stopping by keeping my hands busy, distracting myself, thinking of the reasons why I will be quitting. I also knit and that really helps by keeping both my mind and my hands busy. I also have an occasional snack. I also think about all of the things I could buy with the money I will save. I am finding a lot of help from Boots, who can help you with their Smoke Less Plan and their NikAssist range is great too.

This is no easy challenge however, I have been smoking for decades and have given up a few times. I think Stoptober is amazing. A sense of community always helps when trying something. Smoking is a huge burden on the NHS, never mind the personal damage to health and finances. Most people love a challenge and this 28-day national stop smoking challenge is a brilliant one. I will be taking part in a Twitter Party with Beautyandthedirt and Sexinlondoncity. I hope you can join in too. This is happening between 1-2pm on October 16th. We can all do this together.

Bootstwitterinvite

This is just my first post and I will update you with how I get on later in the month. I have been set a number of challenges and challenge number one is preparation. So I am preparing myself with the top tips from Boots UK Stop Smoking.

Boots UK pharmacist Angela Chalmers knows that the key to any form of success is often preparation and has prepared these top tips to help you embark on the first week of your smoke free journey. I have found them really helpful. If you want to ask Angela a question you can do so via our comments section.

Tip 1: Quit your own way

When you begin your smoke free journey, it is important that you know your smoking habits and chose a time to quit that is right for you. Many people find that starting their quit journey on a Wednesday is easier than starting on a Monday. Luckily the first day of Stoptober falls on a Wednesday this year!

If quitting on the first day of Stoptober is not right for you, then choose a time or day in the first week that best suits your lifestyle. If you tend to be a social smoker, then choose a time to quit that doesn’t clash with a social gathering – for example quitting a day before your best friend’s big birthday or a close family celebration might not be the best time for you! Remember that Boots pharmacists are available to provide advice and support at any time and stage of your smoke free journey.

Tip 2: Know your smoking triggers

Breaking a smoking habit is difficult as it’s often a part of your daily routine and something you may tend to do without even thinking about it. However, more often than not there are factors that can trigger these habits or make you want to smoke. For some people it goes hand in hand with a night out, for others it may be part of their morning coffee routine. It is important to know what your triggers are so you can put a strong plan of action in place to help you avoid them while you are on your smoke free journey.

Replacing your triggers with a different healthy habit can also help. For example, if you usually smoke after meals then maybe think about replacing that cigarette with a brisk walk to the end of your road or drinking a glass of water.

Many people worry about weight gain as they often confuse their cravings for hunger and increase their food and snack intake. If you’re worried about weight gain talk to a stop smoking advisor who can give you tips on eating right and exercising so that weight gain is minimal. Things that could help:

  • Drink an extra glass of water after meals to keep you feeling full
  • Snack on as many fruits and veggies as you want – something crunchy like baby carrots or an apple, can sometimes be very satisfying
  • Keep your hands busy with something besides food!

Tip 3: Swap smoking for a new hobby

It is normal to get a little irritable when you quit smoking. Why not distract yourself by taking up a new hobby such as learning a new language, trying a new recipe or playing sport? By keeping yourself busy you are more likely to reach your smoke free goal as well as learning something new. Or you could simply get round to doing something you’ve been meaning to do for a while – clearing out your wardrobe, putting up a new shelf, even cleaning the windows?! Creating a list of all the things you want to do and then ticking something off that list (even the smallest thing) can you give you a great sense of achievement!

It’s also important to think positively (it’s easier said than done, we know!). However, rather than seeing quitting smoking as giving up something you love, taking up a new hobby or activity can help you to associate it with a new fresh start and a much more positive way of thinking that will help you to stay motivated.

Tip 4: Don’t give up giving up

Many smokers try on more than one occasion to give up cigarettes. If you have a smoking relapse, try not to be disheartened. Instead, examine what caused you to smoke again, so that you can look out for the signs and find a way to overcome this on your next attempt. Remember that giving up smoking is not easy and celebrate each day that you remain smoke free. Sometimes a visual tracker can help. Why not buy a wall planner or calendar on which you can cross off each smoke free day so you can see how well you are doing and increase your confidence in yourself?

Tip 5: Reward yourself

Don’t be too hard on yourself! Giving up smoking is a huge challenge and each day that you stay smoke free is an achievement – something many people strive to achieve. In fact, 61% of smokers say quitting smoking is one of their lifetime’s ambitions so make sure your celebrate, perhaps by setting yourself small targets and treating yourself when you reach them.

Remember – one of the best benefits of stopping smoking (aside of course from the health improvements) is all of the money you will save! Use this to reward yourself with a treat or something fun. This could be a pampering new make-over to show of how great you look now that you are smoke free, a new wardrobe or even a weekend trip away.

Jude Law Gets Immersed In Johnnie Walker Blue Label ‘Symphony In Blue’ Experience

JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL Presents SYMPHONY IN BLUEJOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL Presents SYMPHONY IN BLUEJOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL Presents SYMPHONY IN BLUEJOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL Presents SYMPHONY IN BLUE

Last night saw Johnnie Walker Blue Label, the leading luxury Blended Scotch Whisky, present Symphony In Blue – the world’s first theatrical, experiential, musical and artistic journey for guests to enjoy. This truly immersive experience was crafted by a star-studded team including Hamish Hamilton and Russell Thomas from Done+Dusted as well as culinary geniuses, Sam Bompas and Harry Parr from Bompas & Parr.
Symphony In Blue celebrated the heritage and craftsmanship behind Johnnie Walker Blue Label, as well as the journey that Johnnie Walker started nearly 200 years ago. This educational performance was staged at the magnificent Merchant Taylors’ Hall, home to over 1,000 years of history and located in the heart of London’s square mile.
Hosted by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Jim Beveridge, this one-of-a-kind event saw a special appearance by Jude Law, in addition to a host of VIPs and London influencers including Tamsin Egerton, Luke Treadaway, Donna Air, Morwenna Lytton Cobbold, Natalie Coyle and Alistair Guy.

Guests were welcomed on a 7-room odyssey of the senses inspired by the physical, architectural, social and gastronomic dimensions of Whisky. Among the experiences, guests entered the world’s first Whisky Weather system, a luxurious breathable cloud of JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL and after passing through the Ice Palace where an illuminated block of 10,000 year old ice awaited they witnessed the hand-charring of barrels with the use of Whisky flamethrowers.

Culinary geniuses Bompas & Parr created an exquisite banquet of mouth-watering dishes, each one uniquely crafted to celebrate and highlight the complex flavours found within Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Upon finishing the gourmet masterpiece served to guests seated at elaborately dressed long banquet tables, the duo revealed the hotly anticipated multi-sensory project they have been working on for over a year – the world’s first working Flavour Conductor; a one-of-a-kind musical instrument that brings an inimitable theatrical dimension to whisky tasting. The magnificent church organ built according to centuries of tradition combines a contemporary sound and light spectacular with the rich heritage of whisky blending, whilst each note of the instrument emphasizes the individual flavors that can be discovered in the Blue Label blend.

Following the feast, a unique, performance took place with dancers, musicians and actors, each embodying a chapter of the Johnnie Walker story and celebrating the flavor, history and heritage. The final scene took to the walls as breath-taking projections transported the guests into the center of the glass of a glass of whisky.

Jude Law, star or Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s short film ‘A Gentleman’s Wager’ closed the occasion by thanking guests and raising a glass to all with encouragement to ‘keep on walking’.

The exquisite menu consisted of Stuffed Quails’ Eggs with Sumac, Chipotle and 24 Carat Gold, Foie Gras, Toasted Brioche, Johnnie Walker Blue Label Jelly, Poached Scottish Salmon and Lobster Roulade, sour cream and caviar sauce, Artichoke and Wild Mushroom Gratin, Stichelton, truffles and cream, Johnnie Walker Glazed, Slow Cooked Jacob’s Ladder, served on barley risotto, with a red wine reduction, Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve Marbled Jelly, spiced citrus jelly, candied orange peel, edible flowers and a treacle Tart served with Johnnie Waller Gold Label Reserve cream Chantilly.

The Symphony In Blue performance – inspired by the physical, social and gastronomic dimensions of Whisky – features extraordinary JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL-inspired installations, a theatrical meal and climatic spectacular finale. Confronted by a play of light, art, sound, extreme temperatures, gastronomy and performance, guests’ imagination and perception of flavour will be challenged and provoked through a host of experiences including; entering the world’s first Whisky Weather system, a luxurious breathable cloud of JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL and a rare opportunity to meet with Master Blender Jim Beveridge and craft a personalised Signature Blend drawn from the largest reserves of whisky in the world.

James Thompson, Global Managing Director of Diageo Reserve says: “JOHNNIE WALKER has continued to be the world’s best-selling Scotch Whisky and one of the most loved spirits brands in the world. At the heart of our brand is a deep commitment to innovation and a pioneering spirit, made tangible through our signature ‘Big, Bold Flavours’ drawn from the four corners of Scotland. With SYMPHONY IN BLUE, we elevate the understanding of JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL, our search for flavour and how we perfected the art of blending.”

JOHNNIE WALKER® BLUE LABEL™ is one of the pinnacle offerings from JOHNNIE WALKER.

Only sublime, rare whiskies at the pinnacle of perfection are used in the blending of JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL, with only 1 in 10,000 casks containing whisky of sufficient character to deliver its remarkably smooth signature taste. Each is hand selected by the JOHNNIE WALKER Master Blender himself, part of an unbroken lineage of Master Blenders stretching back over 190 years – it is an ultimate expression of whisky making today and an remarkable achievement for the modern era.

Presented in individually numbered bottles, it is reminiscent of the 19th century style of whiskies. The Master Blender uses his decades of experience to select some of the rarest casks from the JOHNNIE WALKER reserves for their quality, character and flavour to create the powerful, complex, smooth character of BLUE LABEL.

BLUE LABEL has a mellow, rounded nose, with a dry smokiness (a JOHNNIE WALKER signature flavour) mixing with raisin sweetness. It is best savoured with the palate cleansed and cooled by iced water. One sip reveals a velvety mouth-feel, then an explosion of flavour. At once you’ll discover hazelnuts, honey, rose petals, sherry and oranges. Subsequent sips reward you with more hidden secrets like kumquats, wispy aromatic smoke, sandalwood, tobacco, and dark chocolate.
