Winchester Street Style

Fashion design really starts with street style. Everyday people out and about have no idea they could be the inspiration for the next big trend in fashion and style. Getting spotted doesn’t necessarily mean being featured on a runway or being asked to model for the latest campaign. Designers are constantly looking at everyday life for their next collections visual muse.

We decided to hit the streets of Winchester to see all the fabulous fashion that it had to offer. Winchester is becoming very well know for its Fashion Week. The last one was at the beginning of April and was a huge success. It is now a key date in the calendar in the South East. Also one of the most talked-about fashion events outside of London.

Seeing that the city is steeped in history and it used to be the former capital of England it needed some real fashion savvy reporting. So with this is mind and a camera in hand it was high time to snap away, not the models…No we wanted to see the real people of this beautiful city. The people that are more commonly known as Wintonians.

Wintonian FashionThis rather fabulous lady was elegantly gliding her way down the High Street, we just had to stop her for a snap. IMG_1242Colourful accessories are not just about a vibrant scarf and cute shoes. This young lady below was strutting her flamboyant, dazzling and beautiful self along the street and we jumped at the chance to picture her. This is a brilliant invention. This liquid hot chocolate just needs to be stirred into hot milk. However it’s a hot chocolate that is not just for drinking. You can spread on toast, squeeze and shake for a milk shake and drizzle over ice cream, porridge and fruit. It tastes great, like a high quality dark chocolate. Not the bitter ones though, it is very sweet. It is 100% natural, low GI, GM and gluten-free, vegan and only 14 calories per tsp. Wow and wow. Tan Organic

Are you loving being on the pale side at present, embracing the lighter side of life. Not being one for sunning yourself and do you wear factor 50 all year round. Like many you may have found our skin is so much plumper and heathy looking without the Summer sun damage.

So when we do want a little bit of a glow what should we reach for. Well here is a tremendous tanning lotion called TanOrganic Self Tanning Oil.

This Eco certified oil is ultra moisturising and perfectly subtle, you will look astonishingly sun kissed in a very natural way. It contains 8% DHA so this basically means its fairly light and perfect for the face and body. It was voted the best facial tan in 2013 so you can’t really get better than that now can you.

It will last about 4 days on well looked after skin thats been exfoliated and cleansed prior to application. You can focus on your legs to give them a little hint of colour and gradually build on layer by layer. It will last very well and didn’t fade in patches either.

IMG_0980They state you don’t need to apply it with a mitt so I was understandably a little dubious about this…I did 1/2 with a tan mitt and the rest with my bare hands. Just remembering to wash my hands afterwards! I don’t know what on earth I was worried about. No staining and no clothing was harmed during this trial either!

It glided on and made my skin feel very hydrated. It left a nice citrus fragrance behind that I loved as most of my perfumes I am wearing at the moment have citrus undertones. Citrus works so well with all scents, you can’t really go wrong. The oil vanished almost instantly and felt fairly dry to the touch so its a good idea to moisturise your skin a little before you apply it.

IMG_0994The bottle has a little dropper in the top to help with application and spillage issues…I’m a clumsy one so this was a god send!!

Application is recommended every 2-3 days to keep a nice glow and you can re apply it after 6-8 hours to intensify the shade. I loved the little bit of colour this gave me and I was astonished at how little you need to give a nice even, blended and perfect cover of colour. Now I used to teach students to do professional tans and I have to say this is a really easy home tan.

Sunbeds are so bad for you and I think they should be banned. Tan Organic is the Worlds first and only Eco Certified Self Tanning brand and I am loving it. With 64% of what we apply to our skin getting absorbed into our bloodstream, I am never using products that are not certified ever again. Hey ladies if this tan can be applied while your pregnant, yes pregnant then thats incredible!

This is going to be in my bathroom cabinet for a long time!IMG_1009This was a PR sample but I have fallen in love with it. I only share what I love here with you guys. So if I don’t love it you won’t get to read about it. I know tons of you like to hear the bad things, but I feel its way more beneficial to not mention bad products. This is a great product…off to top up right now!

Sake No Hana Celebrates Arrival Of Spring With Pop-Up Japanese Cherry Blossom Secret Garden

From 7th April to 19th May Sake no Hana, the Japanese restaurant by the internationally acclaimed Hakkasan Group, will be celebrating the arrival of Spring and Japanese cherry blossom season with the launch of “Sakura at Sake no Hana”, a pop-up cherry blossom secret garden. Taking over the bar on St. James’s Street, “Sakura at Sake no Hana” will be a spectacular display of an abundance of pink cherry blossom enveloping the bar from floor to ceiling, entwining above and around guests while they enjoy limited-edition cherry blossom sake cocktails, bento boxes and desserts.

 japanese

Sake no Hana and renowned florist Veevers Carter designed the fantastical garden to capture the essence and ethos of Japanese cherry blossom season “sakura”, one of the most celebrated periods in the Japanese calendar. To enter the bar guests will step through a fairytale-like entrance, surrounded by interweaving branches and archways of lush blossom. Once inside, the creation focuses around two large cherry blossom trees – one either side of the bar – which reach up and encoil their branches above and around the bar creating an elaborate canopy effect, with blooms and branches intertwining the bamboo walls. Jo Malone blossom-scented candles will complete the sensory experience.

Inspired by “sakura” and “hanami”, the centuries-old Japanese tradition of celebrating the fleeting annual cherry blossom season, “Sakura at Sake no Hana” offers guests in Mayfair the chance to enjoy the transient beauty of the flowers by sipping sakura sake cocktails at the blossom bar or by booking a table in the pop-up garden to indulge in a Japanese lunch with friends. Limited-edition items include:

———-

Hanami Bellini Cocktail – Sparkling sake, Luxardo cherry liqueur, Heering cherry liqueur, lime, Tanqueray gin (£10)

Sakuratini Cocktail – Maraschino cherry liqueur; sake, vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice, lime, orange bitters (£10)

Cherry blossom macarons vanilla macarons with cherry blossom tea ganache (£1.60 each, 5 for £7)

———-

Guests at Sake no Hana at midday on Saturday 26th April will view the spectacle of “Kagami Biraki”, a time-honoured Japanese ceremony which entails the lid of a sake barrel being dramatically broken open by a wooden mallet before the sake is served in traditional cups. This will be accompanied by Japanese Taiko drummers with their captivating, high-energy, carnival-like performance.

“Sakura at Sake no Hana” limited-edition menu items available in the bar and restaurant from 7th April to 19th May, Monday to Saturday. Sakura crystal bento box available at lunch; sakura cocktails and desserts available at lunch and dinner. To book a table call 020 7925 8988 or email reservations@sakenohana.com.

He Texted: The Ultimate Guide To Decoding Guys Book Review

Technology usually makes things easier, but when it comes to dating, things are now more complicated than ever. Sure access is easier: Twitter and Facebook has given all of us the chance to stalk. Not that we would, of course.

But with access comes more problems: we know a lot about people just from their social media, but also nothing at all.

As the He Texted: The Ultimate Guide to Decoding Guys back cover puts it:

He Texted The Ultimate Guide To Decoding Guys Book Review

‘You’re a busy, intelligent, modern woman. You stay on top of work e-mail. You “like” all the baby photos your sister posts on Facebook. You found your dream job through LinkedIn. But when your crush texts you “Sup?” every few days, yet never asks you out, what the hell does that mean?

These days, dating is more confusing than ever. Friending? Following? Liking? Poking? Linking? LOLing? WTF? In an era when FaceTime is no longer the same as face-to-face, it’s no wonder you can’t tell if he’s into you or just really into his iPhone.

This hilarious and essential guide from the founders of HeTexted.com—with totally straightforward guy sight from the HeTexted Bros—will help you autocorrect your digital dating life, from decoding your Facebook friendships, to reading the intentions behind guys’ perplexing texts, to deciding when—if ever—you should text him first. It’s He’s Just Not That Into You for the digital age and What to Expect When You’re Expecting . . . a second date—all in one invaluable package!’

I found this book entertaining, interesting and full of great information and advice. It reminded me of a He’s Just Not That Into You for the modern age. The book comes from the creators of HeTexted.com, which consists of Lisa Winning and Carrie Henderson McDermott. Lisa has worked in start-ups all of her life and Carrie bravely left her job at Glamour magazine. And with great success: He Texted is an indispensable guide to dating in the modern age.

There is a lot of amazing advice for decoding texts and avoiding modern dating pitfalls in this book from different sources, including some men. It is fun to read and will help you through the minefield that is modern dating.
