Bio:
Cata9tales are an innovative alternative hip-hop/hypecore duo from Baltimore and Virginia, who in only two years have managed to score number one slots in charts, contests and festivals throughout the country (including Vans Warped Tour), released two albums, gained an international and celebrity following, and put on shows coast to coast.

Formed in 2011 by vocalist Berkley Priest, the flamboyant, poetic “rocker who rhymes,” and his multi-instrumentalist prodigy bandmate, Kreator, the band released their cathartic independent debut, “Kick the Bad Love,” followed six months later by the enigmatic “A Chameleon’s Dream.” That e.p., which was downloaded over 10,000 times, caught the attention of independent label Monarchy Records, a division of the Spectra Music Group, who signed the band in the summer of 2012.

Cata9tales has been a top worldwide featured artist on Reverbnation, have been selected as finalists (and won) dozens of music and performance contests, crossed over to both the hip-hop and rock worlds, and have appeared in multiple publications and at music conferences throughout the country. In a short time, Cata9tales has proven themselves a force to be reckoned with – a unique, charismatic, totally innovative voice in a saturated scene. They have recently completed their newest – and best – album, “Hello Maybe Everything,” due to be released worldwide October 1, 2013. Look for Cata9tales to explode in the coming year, and to arrive swinging mics and turntables at a venue near you.

Plastic Bags To Cost 5p From 2015: Why It’s a Good Thing.

It has taken a long time but there will finally be a charge for plastic bags. Plastic bags are to cost 5p in England in a bid to discourage their use. Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg will unveil the plan at the Liberal Democrat party conference this weekend. Scotland will charge from October 2014 and charges for single use plastic bags are already in use in Wales and Northern Ireland.

environment, effect of plastic bags on environment, plastic bags to cost money, plasric bags, wildlife,

The charges will apply to supermarkets and larger stores and the proceeds will go to charity. Watch the video below to learn why Frost thinks this is such a good thing. Plastic bags have a bad effect on the environment and can kill or hurt animals.

Here are our top 5 reasons why it is a good thing:

1: Stray bags choke and strangle wildlife around the world
2: Production of plastic bags requires millions of gallons of petroleum.
3: Less plastic bag use would significantly reduced carbon dioxide emissions.
4: In 2006, the United Nations found that each square mile of the ocean has 46,000 pieces of plastic in it. We don’t want to add to this.
5: There would be less plastic bags littered around, leaving the world a much more beautiful place. Over one trillion plastic bags are used worldwide each year and 3-5% of these are recycled

Miley Cyrus ‘Wrecking Ball’ Video Gets Over 20 Million Hits. Watch The Video

If you think Miley Cyrus’s VMA Twerking performance was raunchy, (and let’s face it, it was, Especially grinding into Robin Thicke who seems such a fan of disrobed women), then watch her ‘Wrecking Ball’ Video. You have probably seen it already. If not then you will see Cyrus completely naked riding a wrecking ball.

Miley Cyrus, wrecking ball, naked, music, video,

We like her music, but we would like it a lot more if she did not exploit herself. What do you think? Should she put some clothes on and let the music speak for itself? Or is she just really good at publicity?

The Great British Bake Off Recipe Videos | Bake Your Own Cakes

baking, how to, recipe, video. cheescake, muffins, ganola barsReady, Steady, Bake!

With The Great British Bake Off back on our screens, now is the perfect time to get back in the kitchen, whip out your apron and bake some yummy treats that the whole family will love.

In preparation for the nation’s favourite baking series, Jordans has teamed up with The Boy Who Bakes and original winner of The Great British Bake Off, Edd Kimber, to create three exclusive new recipes.

To kick start your day Edd has created some delicious Oat and Raisin Muffins using Jordans Crunchy Oat Granola with Raisins and Almonds. These muffins are perfect for breakfast to set you up for the day or for an afternoon snack.

Finally, Edd’s show-stopper: Strawberry Cheesecake Tart. This stunning creation is a perfect centre piece for Summer dinner parties, but actually very simple to make.

Oat and Raisin Muffins

– makes 6

150g Plain flour

1 1/2 tsp Baking powder

1 tsp Cinnamon

125g Jordans Crunchy Oat Granola with Raisins and Almonds

100ml Vegetable oil

125g Light brown sugar

75ml Whole milk

2 Large eggs

1 tsp Vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 180C fan and line a muffin pan with six paper wrappers.

In a large bowl mix the flour, baking powder and cinnamon together. Add the Jordans granola, breaking up any large clusters with your fingers, mix to combine.

In another bowl add the oil, sugar, milk, eggs and vanilla extract and whisk until fully combined. Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Using a spatula or wooden spoon gently mix the ingredients together, don’t worry if there are a few lumps because you want avoid over mixing the batter which can result in tougher muffins.

Divide the batter between the paper cases and place the muffin pan into the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until golden and risen. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before placing on a wire rack to cool completely.

Strawberry Cheesecake Tart

– serves 12

Tart Base

250g Jordans Strawberry Country Crisp

125g Unsalted butter, melted and cooled

Cheesecake Filling

250g Cream cheese

70g Caster sugar

1 tsp Vanilla bean paste

150ml Double cream

Strawberry Topping

500g Strawberries, hulled and halved

30g Caster sugar

Juice of 1/2 lemon

Place the Jordans Country Crisp in the bowl of a food processor and blend until fine. Add the butter and process to combine evenly. Lightly grease a tart tin with a removable base and line the base with a disc of parchment paper (this helps to remove the tart later on). Press the crisp mixture firmly into the base and sides of the tin, make sure to press firmly so the tart base is solid. Place in the refrigerator for an hour to set.

To make the cheesecake filling place the cream cheese, caster sugar and vanilla into a large bowl and using an electric mixer or wooden spoon beat together for a few minutes until smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl whisk the cream until it has soft peaks. Add a third of the cream to the cream cheese and beat to combine. Add the remaining cream and fold together until fully combined. Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly across the base of the tart shell and pop back in the fridge whilst you make the topping.

For the strawberries place the berries, sugar and lemon juice into a medium saucepan and cook over medium/low heat for about 5 minutes until the sugar has dissolved and the fruit has released some juice. Remove the strawberries from the pan, leaving behind all the juice. Increase the heat to medium/high and cook for a couple of minutes or until the juice has reduced and is syrupy in consistency, remove from the heat and allow to cool.

To serve, carefully remove the tart from the tin and place onto a serving plate, top with the strawberries and drizzle over the syrup, serve immediately.

Honey Nut Granola Bars

– makes 8

300g Super Nutty Granola

125g Clear honey

50g Unsalted butter

25g Light brown sugar

A pinch of salt

Preheat the oven to 160C and grease and line an 8 inch square tin (preferably with a loose base) with parchment paper.

Place the granola into a large bowl and break up any clusters with your fingers, set aside. In a small saucepan add the honey, butter, sugar and salt and cook over low heat until fully melted. Pour this mixture over the granola and mix thoroughly. Press into the prepared pan making sure to press in firmly, this will help the bars hold together once baked. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until lightly golden. Allow to cool for around half an hour before carefully removing and allow to cool completely in the fridge (this helps to dip the bars later).

When ready to dip the bars place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and place over a pan of gently simmering water. Once the chocolate is melted, remove from the heat and carefully dip the bars in the chocolate, coating half of the bar. Set onto a parchment lined baking tray and place in the fridge to set.

Paloma said

‘I am thrilled to be able to exhibit these artworks. The photographers involved are all amazing and I am so proud to have worked with them. I am extremely hands-on with my visuals, and collaborate very closely with photographers to achieve the final image.

‘In an age where we are all downloading music, it’s wonderful to be able to appreciate fully the work that goes into creating the beautiful imagery surrounding an album.’

Do_You_Want_the_Truth_or_Something_Beautiful

In the video above Paloma Faith discusses her efforts to create spectacular album art in the digital age, and her experiences with the “poetic and sensitive” David Standish compared with the “dynamic and physical” Finlay MacKay and Saul who Paloma has known since she was 18 and who she can trust to get her “right angles, which are the bane of a woman’s life.”

Top VMA 2013 Performances Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, N’Sync

THAT controversial Miley Cyrus performance. Made worse with the duet after with Robin Thicke. If you listen to the ‘Blurred Lines’ lyrics and watch the video it will make you very uncomfortable watching Cyrus twerk on the 36-year-old married father-of-one. And the tongue and the crotch grabbing? If she wanted attention, she got it. Rather awkwardly, her father was in the front row.

N’Sync Return.

Will Smith and Family React to Miley Cyrus Twerking – This is pretty funny.

The Tomas Doncker Band | Music Profile

tomas doncker band, howlin wolf, ep, music, music profile, soulFor this music profile I am bringing you a band I really think are brilliant: The Tomas Doncker Band, they have a great soulful vibe and make stunning music. They sound like proper old soul music with a modern touch and you can now catch their new album: “Power of the Trinity…A Slight Return”

Fresh on the heels of his June 2013 release “Howlin Wolf EP”, which The Huffington Post said “definitely conveys the original emotion of dark brooding — the raw elements and power of the bluesman”, The Tomas Doncker Band are back with a new release entitled “Power of the Trinity…A Slight Return” (The GLOBAL SOUL Mixtape Volume 1), to be released through Doncker’s own True Groove Records.

“Power of the Trinity…A Slight Return”, Tomás’s latest release, is a Global-Soul meditation on the legacy of Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie. It features contributions from legendary bassist/producer Bill Laswell, Ethiopian singers Ejigayehu “Gigi” Shibabaw and Mahmoud Ahmed, legendary Ethiopian guitar hero Selam Woldemariam (who also served as production consultant for the project), saxophonist Peter Apfelbaum, trumpet and horn arrangements by Steven Bernstein, international Avant-Funk Super star Joseph Bowie, and a host of New York’s finest jazz, funk and rock musicians.

Doncker’s describes his definition of global soul as “The sound of our collective conscience. The unified rhythm of heart beats creating a positive, spiritually uplifting force for good. Musically speaking it is not genre specific, but in fact genre inclusive. It is the best of what we have to offer to each other, from Brooklyn to Ethiopia, and everywhere in between.”

The EP is being released in support of The Studio Samuel Foundation’s 1Hundred Girls Impact Plan (www.studiosamuel.org), a charity that supports young women in Ethopia.

“We must become members of a new race, overcoming petty prejudice, owing our ultimate allegiance not to nations, but to our fellow men within the human community.”
