BRAVE TV PRESENTER KATIE PIPER GIVES HER FIRST INTERVIEW SINCE ANNOUNCING HER PREGNANCY IN THIS SUNDAY’S FABULOUS MAG

In this week’s Fabulous magazine’s special Inspiration Issue, acid attack survivor, Katie Piper opens up about her pregnancy joy: “I just feel very blessed. It’s incredible really. When I go into hospital to have the baby, it’ll be the first time I’ve been there for something nice.”

In the exclusive interview, which is accompanied by a photoshoot by legendary photographer, David Bailey, the 29-year-old presenter and model says she finds it strange when people say she’s inspired them: “I was put in a situation and had to decide whether to sink or swim, and I think most people would fight and get through it. It’s not until we get tested that we know how strong we are.”

Katie, whose baby is due in the Spring, also opens up about the moment she found out she was pregnant and the morning sickness she’s been suffering from ever since.

Also in this week’s edition, brave Michelle Heaton opens up about her decision to have a double mastectomy after she was told she had an 80 per cent chance of contracting breast cancer, while award-winning Sky News foreign correspondent Alex Crawford reveals what it’s like reporting from some of the world’s most dangerous war zones.

What To Eat When You’re Pregnant And Vegetarian | Book Review

The phrase, ‘You are what you eat’, is never truer than when pregnant. In fact, both you and your baby are what you eat. If you are vegetarian, or just want to cut down on meat, then this book calls itself the ‘complete guide to healthy eating’. We put it to the test.

This book is an excellent guide. It has a handy reference of vegetarian-safe food and drink, checklists for pregnancy and post-conception, guidelines on caffeine and alcohol, tips on handling morning sickness, how to achieve a healthy weight, and then lose it again, advice on getting enough nutrients, advice on allergy-proofing your baby, food that affects a babies development and what you should eat when breastfeeding. Phew. That is quite a lot of information.

With its menu plans and tips for planning meals, the wealth of information in this book is vast. It even has graphs of how much you should weigh and what food you should eat, it makes a complicated time easy, at least when it comes to nutrition. I also thought the chapter on getting enough iron and avoiding anaemia is great for any mother-to-be. The common complaints during pregnancy and how to deal with them is great too. It covers most health complaints that occur in pregnancy.

What to Eat When You’re Pregnant and Vegetarian: The Complete Guide to Healthy Eating is a great book. A must buy if you are planning to get pregnant or already are.

Lauren Smith – fashion gold

After Graduate Fashion Week in June, Lauren Smith was the name on everybody’s lips as the young Scottish designer walked away with the coveted George Gold award. After recently graduating from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA in Fashion, Smith is now set to complete an MA in Textiles back in Edinburgh.

Yesterday, Frost caught up with Smith while showcasing her collection at the Graduate Showcase for Vauxhall’s Fashion Scout.

The 3 pieces you have on show today were taken from your graduate collection, what were your inspirations behind this?

My collection has been heavily inspired by the work of Dieter Roth. Two of his collections, “Diaries” and “Work Tables” are specifically important. I am intrigued by what we leave behind i.e. our thoughts, workings and secrets. As seen in his collection “work tables”, Roth discovered that what was left behind on our desks etc was actually sometimes more interesting than the final works. The sketches, scribbles and notes left aside aren’t planned or organised and it is this aspect I wanted to bring into the garments.

Roland Mouret described your collection as ’emotional’ – do you find that your personality comes into play a lot when you’re designing?

I always like to make my work personal, I feel like it’s the best way to introduce myself and work to the industry. I am so pleased Roland Mouret picked up on it with my graduate collection!

What materials did you use for your collection? Were these easy enough to come-by or did you struggle to source them?

I used a number of materials in the collection including leather, cotton canvas and cotton panama. The main focus of my collection was the manipulation and embellishments and so the materials weren’t particularly complex.

You won gold at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week – congratulations! – what are your plans now?

I have just started my MA in Textiles at ECA and am really looking forward to exploring a combination of textiles and fashion.

Where do you want to take your designs in the future?

I haven’t got a set plan for the future but I want to keep exploring and creating work that combines fashion textiles and illustration.

Food design trio Blanch and Shock have created an amazing supper club menu offering that was served directly onto tables on Wednesday afternoon (11th of September)

With 24 carat gold on our lips as part of the dessert experience.

Capturing exciting flavour varieties and taste notes that combined are rarely seen, Wednesday’s supper club will comprise a wild pescatarian starter, garnished with flowers, samphire and pea shoots, and a meaty main. To finish the plate-less feast, a selection of cakes that perfectly accompany Baileys Chocolat Luxe will tantalize tastebuds.

The main meal is served directly on the plate. It was amazing.

Dessert. Yummy. We put 24 carat gold on our lips to start. Then we had a Baileys Chocolat Luxe and helped ourselves.

The Bar Chocolat experience celebrates the beauty of food and culinary delights. It sees creatives including Bompas & Parr, Tabitha Denholm, Amelia Rope, Petra Storrs and Lou Hayter coming together to create a part immersive, part exhibition journey into the multi-sensory experience of chocolate.

We had an amazing three course meal and the exhibition was amazing too. Opening the door to smell chocolate. Tabitha’s film, the chocolate dessert, the food and experience. The starter was served on a platter of ice and the main was served directly onto the table. Dessert involved putting real 24 carat gold onto our lips. . Amazing, just amazing. We had a brilliant time.

The temporary immersive exhibition and supper club space in Covent Garden saw Pixie Geldof, Henry Holland, Lou Hayter, Gizzi Erskine, Arlissa, Charli XCX, Camilla Rutherford, Tabitha Denholm and Bompas & Parr party into the night to celebrate the nationwide release of Baileys Chocolat Luxe.

Erskine, Denholm, Hayter and Pixie and Ashley Williams took to the decks as guests took in the immersive multi-sensory experience space dedicated to the pleasure of chocolate.

Pixie Geldof used last night’s launch of Baileys Chocolat Luxe to announce that she will following the in the footsteps of friend Alexa Chung in launching her new venture with fashion designer Ashley William called Funky Offish launching soon.

Pixie said:

“Funky Offish is short for funky official – it is our take on smart casual – half funky and half official. We are so excited to announce at tonight’s Baileys Chocolat Luxe night that it will be coming very soon, I think all the chocolate might have made me too euphoric.

“At the moment we are only planning to do womenswear, but who knows what the future holds. the main thing with Funky Offish is that it is not just a label, it is a way of life and I can’t keep it in anymore.”

Other names attending the event last night included: songstress Gabriella Cilmi, PPQ’s Amy Moyneaux and Percy Parker, Game of Thrones’ Gethin Anthony, models Morwenna Lytton-Cobbald, Olivia Inge and Lilah Parsons and comedian Tom Davis.

Baileys Chocolat Luxe Launches Bar Chocolat

The highlight of the night was the Baileys Chocolat Luxe drink that saw the crowd get into a chocolate-fuelled frenzy. The Bompas & Parr Cabinet Luxe installation proved a big high with the young female singers especially, the beautiful trio of Arlissa, Gabriella Cilmi and Charli XCX spent most of their time inhaling the enhanced chocolate vapour form the experimental jellymongers.

Lisa Snowdon Talks Boyfriends, Marriage And Babies

In an exclusive interview and photoshoot with Fabulous magazine on Sunday September 8, Capital FM presenter, Lisa Snowdon, opened up about the future and reveals that she’s not that fussed about the whole ‘marriage and babies thing’.

The 41-year-old breakfast show host and former model says: “I’m definitely not planning to have a baby. I have so much respect for mummies, but you have to give everything to your children and I guess I’m not that kind of girl. Your hips stretch out and I see friends with their nipples falling off.”

She says, though, that she’s not ruling out marriage in the future: “I want the amazing party at the end of it. But that’s probably the wrong reason… I’ve never been that close to sharing my life with someone.”

Poppy Delevigne, Jade Jagger, Dita Von Teese Attend Launch of Karstadt “Feel London” Campaign

A host of celebrities including Poppy Delevigne, Jade Jagger and Dita Von Teese gathered last night (4th September) to launch the Karstadt “Feel London” campaign at the recently renewed Karstadt Dusseldorf store.

Feel London, Karstadt’s fall marketing campaign, will launch nationwide in all 83 Karstadt stores.

At the launch event there were numerous in-store activities including tee-shirt printing, lessons on how to walk in high heels, styling advice, activities by Sebastian Conran Food Design, and performances by “busking bands” such as the Watling Band imported from London – all designed to turn Karstadt Dusseldorf into the vibrant metropolis of London for the evening. Approximately 1,900 celebrities and guests attended.
