First Person Lover Avatars On Runway In Björn Borg Show at Fashion Week Stockholm

In impressive caves on an island in Stockholm, Swedish Fashion Brand Björn Borg, in collaboration with Creative Show Director Bea Åkerlund, treated the Fashion Week audience to an extravagant game-inspired runway show. Celebrating individuality, love and fashion in a digital era, the show served as a teaser for the Björn Borg ”First Person Lover” (not shooter!) computer game, releasing worldwide in January 2015 together with the brand’s SS15 collection.

Around 400 gathered to enjoy the brand’s first show on their home market in six years. Eurovision Song contest winner Conchita Wurst flew in to Stockholm to see the show, wearing a custom made Björn Borg body as she entered the show arena.

The Björn Borg SS15 show and collection were inspired by fictional worlds where sport and fashion intertwine in a confident and edgy, yet playful, way. Creative Show Director Be a Åkerlund had First Person Lover inspired projections as a backdrop and all models were wearing masks looking like the avatars of the upcoming game.

“Gaming and digital animation has a great impact on fashion today and we wanted to pick up on this in the collection and show. Bea Åkerlund has caught the idea of our game, to create some more love in the world, in a fantastic way. We are really excited to show a teaser of the collection and the game to the fashion world” said Björn Borg Head of Design James Lee.

The Björn Borg First Person Lover computer game will launch in January 2015 along with the Björn Borg Spring-Summer 2015 collection.

Ripped Jeans

Personally I love the ripped jeans look. It’s edgy, fun and can easily be pulled off with a simple tee or an oversized jumper. It says “I’m causal and carefree” but can also create a chic and stylish ensemble.
Worn with hightop trainers, classic pumps or statement stilettos, the ripped look can turn around that plain old boring outfit of jeans and a vest and give it an effortlessly laid-back yet high fashion twist.

What I particularly admire about ripped jeans is the versatility of accessorise that can be worn with them. A necklace – chunky or quaint. A handbag – clutch or shoulder. Shoes – flats or killer heels, the list goes on! Either way these jeans can make both a grungy hardcore look, or a sleek and polished one.

Like me, if you’re struggling to find that perfect pair, you can easily create your own by slicing and dicing an old pair that are maybe losing their fit or have faded on the knees – or maybe you can’t wait until pay day! This fast and effective way can bring that old pair of skinny jeans that you have fallen out of love with into the cool, chilled and fashionable pair you’ve been searching the stores for.

The One Earring Trend

Is this new trend of only wearing one earring likely to stick around? Or will it have the same effect as the ‘one sleeve rolled up’ trend that Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing has unsuccessfully tried to create which is try hard and quite frankly uninspiring.
Although stars like Emma Watson have adopted the new asymmetrical look, personally I think its all a bit bland.
Brands like Topshop and Zara have embraced the trend by stocking statement, dangly jewels to hang from just one lobe. However I have a hunch that this tacky way of accessorising will soon fade out and hopefully be replaced by something much more elegant!

Emma WatsonEmma Watson

To me it looks as if the poor girl has lost an earring, or maybe forgot to put the other one in .. either way if this bizarre trend starts showing itself in my local area I will be very amused. At least if you do unfortunately happen to lose an earring or embarrassingly forget to put the matching one in, you can pretend it’s intentional! Maybe that’s how ‘the one earring trend’ started!

American Pop Culture & Fast Food Fashion Leaves Brits Hungry For More

Have a crazing for some fast food? Well, what about some fast fashion: The fash pack’s tastes for food-inspired fashion, sees a super-size demand for delicious designs on eBay

Since Andy Warhol transformed a Campbell’s Soup can and boxes of Brillo soap pads into Pop Art in the 1960s, artists and fashion designers alike, have looked to everyday domestic products and beloved food brands for inspiration. This season has seen an explosion of Brits favourite ‘food on the move’ brands translated into must-have clothing and accessories, like never before.

From Rita Ora modelling the McDonald’s ‘Golden Arches’ around London, to Vanessa Hudgens gracing the cover of super cool US magazine NYLON, swathed in Coca-Cola sequins, us Brits can’t get enough of all things kitsch and delicious – with sales of similar women’s apparel rising on eBay.co.uk 119%* over the summer months.

Most recently model and red carpet regular Cara Delevingne was seen taking the trend to another level. Whilst journeying home from her wild birthday celebrations she was snapped wearing an outfit inspired by what’s inside your fast food wrappers and rocking a pepperoni pizza patterned onesie. Across the pond, Katy Perry was spotted the week before wearing a similar all-in-one to The Philadelphia Museum of Art.

So where did this tasty trend begin?

British designer Ashish sent models down the runway for Spring Summer ’14 drenched in Coca-Cola t-shirts and vests, emblazoned with the brand’s unforgettable logo in his signature sequins. Not forgetting his UK roots, looks were complete with sequin shopping bags reminiscent of designs by superbrands ‘Tesco’ and ‘M&S’.

Autumn Winter ‘14 saw Moschino Creative Director, Jeremy Scott, showcase the chicest of McDonald’s uniforms, perfectly paired with ‘french fries’ iPhone cases and handbags, sparking a craze on eBay.co.uk with over 50** types of fast food phone cases available to buy instantly. Not just for ‘McFashion’ fans, Scott also created show-stopping silk dresses with prints taken from beloved food products including: Fruit Loops cereal, Hershey chocolate and Cheetos chips.

Whilst over in Paris, Lagerfeld’s Chanel runway was converted into a high-end luxury supermarket, with grocery aisles constructed in the iconic Grand Palais. Models including new face Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne and pal Rihanna, shopped the aisles with Chanel wire baskets and trolleys, and sported a range of tongue in cheek grocery ‘accessories’, from Chanel egg tray clutches to Chanel milk carton shoulder bags.

alexandraburke alexandraburkegetthelook

Former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke chose to wear jewellery by award-winning designer Myriam Soseilos for  her performance at the Charity Event, which recently took place at the grounds of the real Downton Abbey. The inspiring event commemorated the 100th anniversary of the First World War and raise money for various armed forces charities as well as humanitarian causes.

The songstress kept it stylish and edgy in a silver and black bodycon dress accessorised with MyriamSOS white and black earrings and paired with the Loop Ring in white gold and white diamonds and beautiful bracelets in white gold, all from the Naked Square Collection by designer Myriam Soseilos. The pieces chosen by Alexandra are in line with the current  season’s monochromatic craze and white gold trend, as jewellery in white gold is the hottest trend for this summer.

“Seeing Alexandra wear my jewellery pieces and have fun with them is a great pride for me. I am most inspired by strong women worldwide. My collections were “born” out of my desire to create contemporary pieces that would appeal to women with busy lifestyles and that could be both elegant and versatile. The thought of creating beautiful accessories for women with hectic lives is a continuous source of inspiration. It’s essential to me that women can have fun with my jewellery”, said Myriam.

Myriam Soseilos is without doubt one to watch in the UK and has chosen to lead the industry to new heights with her two stunning, avant-garde collections.

Recently shortlisted for the ‘New Designer of the Year’ Retail Jeweller award, and winner of the ‘Treasure Designer of the Year 2013’, the Cypriot jewellery designer’s visionary brand MyriamSOSfeatures a range of avant-garde statement pieces. Sophisticated, simple and stunning, her exquisitely crafted artistry is an emblem of style and contemporary elegance.

You can recreate Alexandra’s style by choosing the beautifully minimalistic and avant-garde pieces in black and white gold and diamonds from her Naked Square Collection.

The Naked Square Collection, currently stocked at Wolf & Badger in Mayfair, is a celebration of diamond jewellery and is characterised by age-old, handcrafted techniques and unique designs. This collection is based upon geometry and the ‘grammar of shapes’. Myriam finds her inspiration in the ‘square’, in an effort to discover its inner, deeper meaning, across a voyage over the centuries. By creating dark toned pieces in silver and gold, the designer has given a fresh and modern twist to diamond jewellery making the pieces relevant for women today, while capturing the classic and timeless elegance of diamonds.

Myriam’s art is constantly evolving. Guided by her innate talent and her adventurous spirit, the designer has created stunning collections characterised by clean lines and high-quality materials which re-define the concepts of  versatility and individuality. From romantic designs to minimalistic statement pieces, her creations reflect her love for beautiful objects and colours.
