The gorgeous Mila Kunis has taken some time out from looking after her new baby to make her return to the red carpet. Gemfields’ global brand ambassador made her return to the red carpet last night for the world premiere of her new movie ‘Jupiter Ascending’ in Los Angeles.

To mark the much-anticipated arrival of Gemfields’ Mozambican rubies, Kunis wore ruby jewellery by Miiori and Marina B, featuring Gemfields fine Mozambican rubies: Kunis said: “It’s a privilege to represent a company like Gemfields. The biggest mistake people make on dates is that they try to be someone that they’re not and they try to sort of over perform and then they start to set expectations for relationships which they can’t keep up with over time, so I would say the best thing you can probably do is sort of be yourself and have enough self-humility to drive whatever car you have and go to whatever restaurant you can afford to go to and then just sort of depend on you, because you’re probably good enough.

You know what’s surprising about the best food, is that it’s surprising where you find the best what; like the best Dim Sum I’ve ever had is in London, which is like weird right? I’ve been to Bejing – you’d think oh boy, they’re gonna have great Dim Sum? The best Dim Sum is in London; that’s like a weird thing. I love Italian food so Italy kind of has my heart there, I would say like the best overall cuisine, French in France has the best overall cuisine. The greatest variety of good food; I would say is in the United States of America.

Well you know I’ll tell you my favourite British food is fish and chips done well, and if it’s done well its exceptional and I’ve seen like a lot of variations on fish and chips that I think are interesting, but bad fish and chips…break up. It can be nasty.

Films to watch this Easter weekend

With the Easter break coming up, you might be looking for something fun to do over the long bank holiday weekend. A trip to the cinema is a great idea if the weather isn’t so good, and there is plenty to see at the moment.

If you’re after a funny film, I Give It a Year is a fantastic and funny British romantic comedy which looks at the pitfalls of rushing into marriage too fast. It has lots of moments that couples all over the country will recognise and cringe at! From getting annoyed with your partner for constantly singing the wrong lyrics to songs, to wishing your other half would get off their backside and take the bin out without you having to pester them. It’s a real and funny look at the ups and downs of everyday relationships and well worth a watch.

Another top film to check out this Easter weekend is Oz the Great and Powerful, a visually stunning prequel to timeless classic The Wizard of Oz which is suitable for all ages and well worth watching in 3D. James Franco, of 127 Hours and the Spider Man franchise fame, stars alongside Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams in this fun and entertaining film that will keep the whole family entertained.

Franco plays magician Oz, master of sleight of hand and misdirection but not someone you’d want to go and see for a genuine psychic clairvoyant reading as the good witch Glinda knows all too well. To put it another way, Oz is about as adept at reading tarot or doing real magic as a monkey is at tying his shoelaces: he’s a bit of a fraud. However, the Land of Oz is expecting a saviour and they believe Oz is with them to fulfil the prophecy. Will he come through for the munchkins and their fellow Oz inhabitants? Watch the film and find out!

 

90% of Brits saying being "Friends with Benefits" ruined Friendship.

90% OF BRITONS IN THEIR EARLY TWENTIES WHO’VE HAD A ‘FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS’ RELATIONSHIP SAID IT RUINED THEIR FRIENDSHIP

The results of a recent survey, asking single people about their views on ‘friends with benefits’ relationships, have revealed that 90% of Britons in their early twenties who have had a relationship with a friend said it ended up ruining their friendship.

The poll of over 15,000 men and women was carried out by mysinglefriend in association with the DVD release of FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS (out now on Blu-ray and DVD).

Overall results show that of those UK singletons who had embarked on a relationship with a friend, 58% now think it was never a good idea as it always ends in tears. Only 1 in 20 of those surveyed think a ‘friends with benefits’ arrangement can work for men but not for women.

“It’s fascinating to find that so many people have at some point dated a friend, and in the vast majority of cases this hasn’t worked out. I’d say we’ve found that it’s best to avoid practising on your friends – most friendships won’t survive!” Said Sarah Beeney, founder of mysinglefriend.

75% of 31-40 year olds won’t admit to ever having had a relationship with a friend
Of the 38% of over 40’s who have had a ‘friends with benefits’ relationship, 73% managed to remain friends after the relationship fizzled out

Despite 90% of those in their early twenties admitting they ruined their friendships, 60% still believe the arrangement can still work in some circumstances

Only 7% of resilient 20-30 year olds ended up getting hurt by having a relationship with a friend

Can “Friends With Benefits” really be the start of something beautiful?

In the eponymous Hollywood film, Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake are FWB, ‘friends with benefits’ – they like each other, they definitely fancy each other, but they’re just not ready for a romantic relationship. But off screen, can two people really have a non-committed relationship without one person getting hurt?

According to relationship scientists from eHarmony.co.uk, studies show that people who choose to become ‘friends with benefits’ are not ready for a committed long-term relationship and find that sticking with this type of casual set-up works better for them than moving it on.

This is particularly true of men. A new study (2011)[1] found that men were more likely to desire casual sex without the need for a monogamous relationship whilst women were more likely to crave a deeper emotional connection, hoping for it to develop into a full blown relationship. So, if casual fling evolves into committed relationship, how likely is it to be a happy one?

A study by Paik (2010)[2] investigated how different sexual encounters could predict relationship satisfaction. By surveying married or cohabiting couples, Paik found that relationships that began as sexual encounters, such as casual dating or non-romantic (friends with benefits), were significantly less satisfied with their relationship than couples whose first sexual encounter was in a serious committed relationship.

So relationship science says “be warned”. Whilst an intimate encounter with an old buddy may seem like a good idea at the time – and makes a great Hollywood script – in reality there could be tears later on.

The September issue of Vogue is out and the advertisers have made the issue heavy enough to use as a dumbbell. No complaints from me.

It is the International Collections special and there are lots of clothes to fawn over, Labels and trends to be urban cool, and accessories that make a difference in Vogue’s Big Fashion Issue.

There is a brilliant article on the history of Gucci, Paloma Picasso revisits Venice and talks about her journey to becoming a jewellery designer, Dries Van Noten gives a guide to his Antwerp, up-coming actress, producer and writer Brit Marling is interviewed (Frost loves her), Rifat Ozbek is doing Robin Birley’s new club, Ruperts; Good two page article.
